Monk Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Michael Stensgaard - I was brought the really dodgy blue and yellow goalkeeper kit as a kid remember him being my first panini sticker for Saints.. Never saw the bloke play and that he doesn't go anywhere near ironing boards now. Mario Licka - Always thought he was underrated and under used. Looked okay, as for his missus WOW. Agustin Delgado - I remember being at the evening Ipswich game he was presented at, always tried to sign him on Championship Manager and even had him on the back of a shirt!
Disco Stu Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Guly Do Prado and Tadanari Lee will always be my favourites

He actually got on the bench for us on one occasion - I have a photo!!!!
SuperSAINT Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 The 1st person that came to mind: Jhon Viafara Honorable mention to Tomasz Hajto for his long cross-field passes.
mrfahaji Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Luis Boa Morte. Was one of my favourite non-Saints players, and then he signed for us. Always thought he was dangerous when he came on, but Hoddle would restrict that to the last 10 minutes of games. Obviously he went on to be pretty good at Fulham. Edit: Maybe he wasn't "crap", but he was hardly used by Saints.
benjii Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Mickey Evans. Basically, crap, but scored some vital goals for us, looked like a wurzel and headed the post.
Mallagroth Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 (edited) Shane Long (Edit: Winky Smiley added just to accentuate I'm just joking for the trigger happy warriors) Edited 4 January, 2017 by Mallagroth
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Shane Long Well there are idiots and idiots.... i suppose
Mallagroth Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Well there are idiots and idiots.... i suppose Just an attempt at humour, no need to get your knickers in a twist.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Just an attempt at humour, no need to get your knickers in a twist. No Knickers twised here but looks like yours are giving you a squeeze....
Mallagroth Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 No Knickers twised here but looks like yours are giving you a squeeze.... I don't have a clue what this means but okay... you win.
Crab Lungs Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Loads of people had a fascination for Leandre Griffit. Never thought he was any good but I did rate Yoann Folly
Batman Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Cosimo Sarli. only because I watched him score a few at Staplewood.
ErwinK1961 Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Loads of people had a fascination for Leandre Griffit. Never thought he was any good but I did rate Yoann Folly Remember watching Folly in that game against Bayern Munich, thought he was mustard and would be brilliant for us!
mrfahaji Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Shane Long (Edit: Winky Smiley added just to accentuate I'm just joking for the trigger happy warriors) Made me laugh in it's original form. Now it's anodyne, don't bow to the pressure!
mrfahaji Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Cosimo Sarli. only because I watched him score a few at Staplewood. Got his autograph, convinced he was going to be great!
ericb Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Tommy "widow" Widdrington, for no other reason than he was sh*t and scored a goal off his ar*e. Not sure if he counts as sh*t but OOOOH Terry Hurlock was a favourite of mine, mainly for disguising GBH as a tackle (and being an absolute maniac in general).
SuperSAINT Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Got his autograph, convinced he was going to be great! He's had some clubs since us... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosimo_Sarli
Heisenberg Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Andrew Davies https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Davies_(footballer)
mrfahaji Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 He's had some clubs since us... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosimo_Sarli 2006 - 2009. I was right all along. Can't believe we got rid of him.
redkeith Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Folly for me. Looked brilliant as a holding midfielder. Then the next Season Sturrock tried to make him into a box to box player, and he was never the same.
Colinjb Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Paul Telfer. A cog in Strachan's machine. Richard Chaplow. Even got his name on the back of my original sash shirt.

mrfahaji Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Was that 3-2? I recall us losing to them the year they finished bottom and had Nordin Wooter playing for them. That name makes me think we shouldn't be restricted to Saints players
dello Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Frankie Bennett! I was there for his solitary, albeit brilliant, goal vs Chelsea!!

That name makes me think we shouldn't be restricted to Saints players That's how I remember it. 28th December 1999 apparently. Starting lineup: Goalkeeper Paul Jones Defender/Right backJason Dodd Defender Francis Benali Defender/Centre back Claus Lundekvam Defender/Centre back Dean Richards Midfielder Trond Egil Soltvedt Midfielder Jo Tessem Midfielder/Forward Luis Boa Morte Midfielder/Forward Matt Le Tissier Forward Kevin Davies Forward Mark Hughes http://www.11v11.com/matches/watford-v-southampton-28-december-1999-338/
beatlesaint Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Keith Cassells Neil Heaney Lee Powell Jim Brennan
percy windham Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 The 1st person that came to mind: Jhon Viafara Honorable mention to Tomasz Hajto for his long cross-field passes.
IronCitySaint Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Frankie Bennett! I was there for his solitary, albeit brilliant, goal vs Chelsea!! Frankie for me as well. I was at training at the Dell on the Monday before that game where he scored and none of the players could get near him he was so fast. Ken Monkou in particular was enthralled by his pace, making motorbike sounds as he ran past. He was rubbish with the ball thought!
CB Fry Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Mickey Evans. Basically, crap, but scored some vital goals for us, looked like a wurzel and headed the post. We need him now.
beatlesaint Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Steve de ridder hahaha oh yes, Sttteeeeevvvvvvveeeeeeeee
saintoaks Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Chicken George for me - used to get dogs abuse but took it on the chin and actually played a few good games for us.
Katalinic Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Ulrich Van Gobbel and Jelle Van Damme. I thought they were ok but most people thought they were useless.
Batman Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Steve de ridder we have the English version now in Redmond.......
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 we have the English version now in Redmond....... This thread is about players thought to be crap but liked not about players you have an obsessive agenda about, like you did with Pelle until he went, be the same if Redmond left you would tells us how we miss him True hypocrisy
Colinjb Posted 4 January, 2017 Posted 4 January, 2017 Steve de ridder Had the pleasure of meeting his father while on the way to Milan. Bumped into him at Brussels airport. Lovely chap.
