Rotation?

Rotation wasn't a problem when we were using the entire squad in the same way and regularly winning in three competitions (Prem, Europe and EFL Cup). It wasn't a problem when we gave academy players game time and they impressed, while leaving some of our 'best 11' on the bench. It's only a problem now our players are failing to perform and we're losing. The team we put out today were good enough to win, but individual errors and poor concentration failed us (again).

Rotation IS a problem when you change 3 of ur back 4 cannot get my head round how he thought that would work, the best back 4 are a settled back 4

Rotation is a major problem. You need a settled side. Players need to play week in week out to bed in. Keep making wholesale changes and it will result in the same old dross. Against West Brom we dropped our two best full backs - I bet Pullis was rubbing his hands. It is utter madness and all it achieves is us fielding a weakened side without justification. Give players a rest only if they are showing clear signs of being knackered. What is this obsession with professional footballers needing a rest every other week. If that's all they can offer then lets pay them 50% of their hugely inflated salaries. It's utter nonsense.

it's the new 'Southampton way'

not only do we sell the most number of first team players in a summer, we now rotate more than anyone else.

more so, international defenders.

the other clubs will follow suit soon enough. #wemarchon

Good post - the irony of our rotation policy is the two players who would most benefit from a rest after a busy schedule are Romeu and VVD who in fact have played practically every game. Three out of the back four was a risky gamble.
