washsaint Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 yes we are in the semis of the LC and 8th in the Prem. But, my god - the style of football we have been subjected to this season (couple of games aside) has been truly awful. Dull, boring and no threat to the opposition. Like playing for a 0 - 0 against Hapoel (home and away). I am truly bored to tears watching Saints this season. Really don't know if Puel is the man for us or not. His style of play and defensive setup has us so predictable and certainly no fun to watch. I hope 2nd half of the season he has an epiphany and looks to play a far more expansive attacking brand of football
Batman Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 Dont rate him at all Think Liverpool will embarrass us in the cup but boring, defensive football
niceandfriendly Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 In. He's fine. We were desperately unlucky tonight.
Dalek2003 Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 If he keeps us up the Board will be happy.
Edmonton Saint Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 Out. Every week is struggling to create any chances, and score. Boring , dull, lifeless charicature of clown manager. And then Forster who can't make any saves whatsoever. Recipe for disaster.
Convict Colony Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 In. He's fine. We were desperately unlucky tonight. In, but not sure this reflects tonights game they were just a lot better than us and clinical
trousers Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 I think we should start a thread like this every time we lose but never after a win.
Unbelievable Jeff Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 In. Don't know what people expect - we're in 8th FFS.
Unbelievable Jeff Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 Out. Every week is struggling to create any chances, and score. Boring , dull, lifeless charicature of clown manager. And then Forster who can't make any saves whatsoever. Recipe for disaster. What makes him a clown?
Pamplemousse Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 Can someone remind me what position we finished in when Pochettino left? And someone remind me what position we're in now?
icehagman Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 In, but not sure this reflects tonights game they were just a lot better than us and clinical To me we were better as long as we put pressure on their defenders. After 20 minutes we suddenly parked our bus in our penalty area and let Spurs rule the game. in my eyes, and watching most of the games this season that is how Puel want us to play. (Rely on counter attacks). So boring to watch, and no wonder we have major difficulties scoring goals.
Wiggles31 Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 Shall we sack him and bring back the mighty Pardew. Jesus wept the utter thicko's on here.
Unbelievable Jeff Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 Can someone remind me what position we finished in when Pochettino left? And someone remind me what position we're in now? We are in the bottom 3 TBF... Oh hang on, that's right, we're not.
adrian lord Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 If Puel can make us play like the first 20 mins tonight for 94 mins then we would all be purring.
Viking Saint Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 In. He's fine. We were desperately unlucky tonight. Tonight was nothing whatsoever to do with bad luck. We create very very little and the first way the players look to move the ball is backwards. It could've been 1-6 and it wouldn't have been unfair.
shurlock Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 (edited) Washsaint going schizo again? Spends half the season castigating others for voicing concerns, then spends the other half well and truly shîting the bed. Puel out? Don't be a moron. Edited 28 December, 2016 by shurlock
washsaint Posted 28 December, 2016 Author Posted 28 December, 2016 To me we were better as long as we put pressure on their defenders. (Rely on counter attacks). So boring to watch, and no wonder we have major difficulties scoring goals. Spot on. And that is what makes us so dull - 11 men behind the ball and wait for a counter. We looked really good pressing and attacking and then, as you say, decided to sit really deep and invite Spurs on to us. Madness, utter madness. Not quite sure how, with all this bloody rotation, Redmond (who has been abysmal) seems to start every game.
Dig Dig Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 Ridiculous for anyone to call for Puel to go. He is doing a decent enough job to with the poorest team we have had for 3 seasons now. His main mistake this eve was picking JWP but other than that, he has poor options up front and a liability keeper in goal.
Disco Stu Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 I'd give him at least this season. If we get some quality firepower in this January then I think our system will work fine. At the moment we're too toothless to win these important games. Having said that, failure to improve this January will be down to our board and not the manager.
Pamplemousse Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 Tottenham are a good side, that's why they're above us. If we play like that on Saturday, then I think fans' anger will be justified. But we are where we are in the table because we're better than most teams in this division and that dominance will show against West Brom. They play in the complete opposite manner than Spurs, and we will get more chances and we will win easily.
the boy from saints Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 Knee jerk reaction thread. Before this game we were in a better position than we were last season, despite having played more games with a new managerial team and a stronger league.
Ashby Saint Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 In. Anything else is over reaction by a bunch of muppets.
geoffnut Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 Yes we have scored a bucketful of goals this season and now conceded 7 goals in two games against Palace and Spurs. This managers tactics are all wrong and not the style of play that our fans have been used to.
JRM Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 Out. The French c'nt can **** off. Could feel all the frustration from Europa league debacle coming out tonight.
Crab Lungs Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 We're not going anywhere under him but it's not entirely his fault. We stood still in terms of investment so blame lies with Reed too. That said, gimme a bit of Roger Schmidt or Marco Silva if the opportunity arises. In which case.... ...Prepare for Bob Bradley.
James Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 He's doing fine results wise but the style of play is shocking on the eye.
danjosaint Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 He's doing fine results wise but the style of play is shocking Is this a joke, Hull, Watford, Sunderland, palace, stoke, beer sheva .......
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 Out - He's shown nothing that makes me think we're heading in the right direction.
Heisenberg Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 The "football" under Puel is horrendous Koeman was almost sacked for his poor start last season - yet Puel matching his poor start is seen as a success!? We have fallen a long way behind the top 6 this season 3 home games against Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs and we managed just 1 shot on target for all 3 games combined We can fight to be best of the rest but really hiw much fun is that? Season hinges on the league cup now
saint77 Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 In but may decide not to renew my season ticket after 30 years cant watch that type of football
Batman Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 The football is shyte under puel, let's be honest We will change about 7 players around for WBA. Huff and puff then moan about lack of strikers after the result..
whelk Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 FFS you lot sure are predictable. We must have a higher proportion of mugs than any other club.
Hodgey Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 In - and re-look at the end of the season. Football is about entertainment and winning, we are definitely going backwards for the first, and jury is out for the second. Then again - how many players has he signed ? - clearly Boufal is one of his and you could argue that the jury is out on him - but Redmond / Hojberg etc... Still don't understand why we have brought in a coach who is clearly a different style than what has brought us so much success since Atkins appointment. I also really hope he isn't being told to play youth products unless he really believes they are good enough (why else would you play JWP against those brutes today when you already have a midfield of Redmond/Boufal/Davis ?)
Golac's Iron Gonads Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 in. Most games we are typically playing 3 players upfront that have barely played a dozen games together. It'll take time for the team to gel attacking wise. I'd give Puel at least until the midway point of next season and then see how we are doing (though, even then, he'll most likely be rebuilding the defence after the summer sales).
James Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 He's doing fine results wise but the style of play is shocking Is this a joke, Hull, Watford, Sunderland, palace, stoke, beer sheva ....... No. We are eighth in the table and in a cup semi.
Toomer Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 He was the best thing since sliced bread after the Bournemouth and Everton wins, he's not my cup of tea his voice drives me up the wall but who is there to replace him if the board had a knee jerk reaction Bob Bradley!
Manuel Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 In, but we need more strength and creativity from midfield and another striker. Puel's doing as well as he can with what we have.
View From The Top Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 He's going nowhere so best untwist your panties ladies.
dronskisaint Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 Moronic question by someone who obviously doesn't go to games - he's a good manager, we're building something here. Poster question reminds me of someone who'd prefer a w*nk to a woman for the instant gratification Yes I was there tonight

Poster question reminds me of someone who'd prefer a w*nk to a woman for the instant gratification Yes I was there tonight Genuine interest but what do you see us trying to build? I'm in favour of keeping Puel but only because I think he's done as expected results wise. His style of play and general philosophy of constantly changing the team are the things I don't like about him. I don't currently enjoy watching us play as the style is too defensive and very slow. Interested to hear an alternative view given you think he is building something.
Gunnery Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 In- But we seriously need a striker who knows where the goal is. Blaming a new manager for the boards failure to replace Mane and Pelle is world class f*ckwittery....
James Posted 28 December, 2016 Posted 28 December, 2016 In- But we seriously need a striker who knows where the goal is. Blaming a new manager for the boards failure to replace Mane and Pelle is world class f*ckwittery.... It's not just that though is it? If you actually read the thread most are concerned at the style of play being implemented. Even if we had Aguero up front he can't score if we don't make any chances. It's not like we create absolutely shed loads of chances that are missed is it? A new striker won't solve our problems. We don't move the ball forward quickly enough. For me, we need a centre mid that can actually carry the ball forward.
