Window Cleaner Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 Sky said Saints had more possession in the centre, but no impact in the final third of the field - (until the 75th minute) Doesn't matter, Gerd Muller was one of the laziest players known to football. Scored 2.80 goals every 3 games though.
Ian the Red Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 (edited) Let us enjoy the game we are Saints fans at least most of us. wE WON NOT lOWEY. Your man Lowey out. COYR hAPPY nEW yEAR iAN. And a very Happy New Year to you Ottery!! Be positive can't be doin with all the negativity on this site, hence the lack of postings!! But just luv it when we win!! Saints thro and thro! Come on you Reds Edited 10 January, 2009 by Ian the Red
offix Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 Hi offix...certainly beats watching us lose 3-0 to Man Utd in the Crown & Anchor! Very true! But the food is better in the Crown & Anchor than in any stadium! Hope you had a good flight back?
Saint Billy Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 Hopefully we are learning to grind out results instead of relying on the pretty stuff. Well done the lads. Please please please keep it going back at home. If we don't win at home we are still doomed.
Jesus Reigned Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 That's what having an experienced centre-back who's prepared to put their head in where it hurts can do for you. Sounded relatively comfortable after we scored too. The silence when we scored on Solent was deafening; look forward to hearing from the hardy souls on their return from Yorkshire tonight!
Give it to Ron Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 Marvelous result, just what was needed. It must be depressing for all the doom merchants, 10 days in, no players sold, one defender brought in and Saints win. Think there might be a few jumping off the bridge tonight!!! Come on you Reds! OH why dont you **** off there is not one fan on here that wants to see us in this desperate situation. Every true fan of Saints wants us to be back in the Prem and winning again and above the Skates. What has happened to this club in the last 3 years is criminal and Lowe, Wilde and Crouch have a lot to answer for but tonite lets all celebrate 3 points as we havnt had the chance to do that much. To gloat and bicker when we have battled and got 3 points is meaninless and stupid. Well done JP I am one of your biggest critics but sounds like the team selection and subs worked well done.
Thedelldays Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 i could not give a ****e how we win...never have..only morons prefered the tippy tappy stuff to make themselves feel better.. all i can say is...well done saints..
Marino Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 Brill boys, well done. Is this team going to break the club record for away wins ? If they could only translate their away form into home wins we would be comfortable. Time for the hypnotists ?
Thedelldays Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 oh...and we simply have to win the next home game to make this count even more..
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 Well done, the 3 points is ALL that matters... 3 more next week please.
um pahars Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 Brill boys, well done. Is this team going to break the club record for away wins ? If they could only translate their away form into home wins we would be comfortable. Time for the hypnotists ? Before today, our away form is ranked 14th, which as you say would make us comfortable. Either replicate this form, or perhaps maybe look to change how we play at home and we could get out of this.
Professor Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 Fantastic three points! Well done you Mighty Saints! According to the bloke on Sky Sports News, Barnsley were all over us for the whole game and it was only down to Kelvin that we won! Just shows that they can do it! Mighty proud of them... UP THE SAINTS!!! Another reason to ignore anything you hear on Sky! I listened to Solent for the 1st Half and even negative Dave Merrington had to admit Saints were doing OK. 2nd Half on Radio Hampshire - very positive, and predicting the win. David Armstrong always very sensible.

graymalkin33 Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 The doom merchants will say we didnt deserve it. Indeed we may not have BUT Barnsley didnt deserve to win at SMS earlier this season so I think that evens things out. Well done guys.
corsacar saint Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 Winning is all that counts[ especially when at the bottom], so who cares whether we were lucky or not. We must beat Doncaster next week, or it will count for absolutely nothing. Anyway well done Saints on the three points.
Give it to Ron Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 The doom merchants will say we didnt deserve it. Indeed we may not have BUT Barnsley didnt deserve to win at SMS earlier this season so I think that evens things out. Well done guys. They didnt it was 0-0 suggest you get your facts right befor having a pop.

That's it in a nut shell.... I do not want to see Saints in this desparate situation but all the crap that people post, all the negative ****e is simply derogatory, sense less and will get us nowhere. The pratts in charge will not leave, live with it, support the team, not the board, get behind the players, go to home matches and support the team!! So why dont you **** off Ron!!
BadgerBadger Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 Please don't let this be another 'false dawn' Centre back sounds like a usefull find. Get in - 3 points mo fo's
Viking Warrior Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 It was a brilliant result. I was a tad concerned, with the changes to the side injuries, Peirce and Cork leaving, Skacel out Paterson Suspended. that that the team might struggle to play as a cohesive unit. But its clear Tim's optomism has paid off. Sounds like the new guys have fitted in well, plus the return of Saga have added a lot lot more aggression to the team. Well done lads. Onwards and upwards
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 The doom merchants will say we didnt deserve it. Indeed we may not have BUT Barnsley didnt deserve to win at SMS earlier this season so I think that evens things out. Well done guys. No us "doom" merchants, as you call them will say.. A win is a win and no more so let`s not get too carried away unless we continue winning.
Wildgoose Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 Really pleased! This is something we've not done for a long time, grind out a result, keep a clean sheet and Nick the goal towards the end. It normally happens to us......well done lads.
ottery st mary Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 The doom merchants will say we didnt deserve it. Indeed we may not have BUT Barnsley didnt deserve to win at SMS earlier this season so I think that evens things out. Well done guys. Matey grow up..The reason your on here now.Only one(Lowey) your only one that is....why do you come on here against all the Saints fans...WE are enjoying our win....What you enjoying...LOWEY out. COYR.
hypochondriac Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 Jan on Hampshire sounds worried that we didn't play good football. Why does that matter?

Behave yourselves you pair of kids. We got three points, any true Saints fan is happy with that. We may have got lucky, we may have deserved it, who cares, we've got three points in the bag.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 Jan on Hampshire sounds worried that we didn't play good football. Why does that matter? The man is a clown and prefers good football to wins... Get rid of him...
Thedelldays Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 The man is a clown and prefers good football to wins... Get rid of him... im sick of people like that..proper football snob...this place used to be full of them until around november time
sun of spain Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 Great result, but meaningless if we can't beat Doncaster next game. Enough of all that for now, let's enjoy this win and give credit where it's deserved. Whatever the majority think about Rupert,we are all fans and only want the Saints to succeed.
um pahars Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 Jan on Hampshire sounds worried that we didn't play good football. Why does that matter? Maybe he's just trying to be a perfectionist and I can't knock him for that. Maybe he's atuned to thinking when you win you need to win well, whereas I would argue most of us don't give a fcckuk how we win (particularly given our current circumstances) as long as we get three points in the bag.

The pratts in charge will not leave, live with it, support the team, not the board, get behind the players, go to home matches and support the team!! So why dont you **** off Ron!! So what is your priority then the team winning and celebrating 3 desperate points or having a pop at other fans that are not as happy clappy as you. This is a message board that allows us an outlet to vent our frustrations at the inadequacy of how we are run and have been. Just because some are happy to sit and accept all the crap and bull**** spun by Lowe and his band of cronies doesnt mean we dont care about the team and by the way my 2 ST's mean I do go and support the team.
Under Weststand Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 What a vital win, well done Saints. We must win against Donny at SMS next week. Looks like Norwich are on the slide also so 2 more wins on the trot please.
hypochondriac Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 The man is a clown and prefers good football to wins... Get rid of him... Very harsh after a win. Perhaps his English means that he doesn't communicate as effectively as he could.

Certainly nicer to win and win well.
Legod Third Coming Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 Jan on Hampshire sounds worried that we didn't play good football. Why does that matter? Because we got lucky and he wants to rule luck out I would guess. I like people who can find fault when we win AND when we lose. That's the only way to get better. Would you prefer he said: "That wash lucky but tell you what my little friend, it dosh not matter. Becosh my idea is jusht to be lucky every week..." Rolls eyes, goes back to not knowing how to feel after a win. How many points do we get for a win? I've forgotten...

Maybe he's atuned to thinking when you win you need to win well, whereas I would argue most of us don't give a fcckuk how we win (particularly given our current circumstances) as long as we get three points in the bag.I dont care how we win....If I dont have to watch it.Sitting at home listening is all about the result, getting off my #### and going to watrch it ,then the football becomes important as well. Saying that the odd game like that at home and leaving with a win does feel good ,but Im greedy and want both.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 Very harsh after a win. Perhaps his English means that he doesn't communicate as effectively as he could. Win or not, i believe he is not up to the job...sorry just my opinion.
um pahars Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 Certainly nicer to win and win well. Something about "choosers" and "beggars"????? Let's just get some points on the board before we worry too much about playing "totale voetball"!!!!!!!!!
Faz Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 The man is a clown and prefers good football to wins... Get rid of him... If you reach for the stars.................

Yes but it does often sound like people on here have very extreme views. We haven't been great but then we are not the worst in the division either. We have to take the positives when we can so today I'm hoping for a wave of positivity on here!
hypochondriac Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 Win or not, i believe he is not up to the job...sorry just my opinion. If we stay up that's a success in my book.

Viking Warrior Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 Just Listeneing to Sies on radio He only trained with the side yesterday, which makes his perfomance and our win today even more remarkable. Sounds like a good lad
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 If we stay up that's a success in my book. i desperately want us to stay up but i fear we won`t with Mr Portvliet..
Legod Third Coming Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 interesting that with spiderman and holmes back we win again...

Weston Saint Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 Excellent win but it we are going to get out of this mess we must do it more often against teams around us. Let's hope we can beat Doncaster next week to cement this win. Then we need to beat Norwich at their place. Not a wish......a need. Let's hope this is a start in our recovery and not a blip and another false dawn For tonight I am very very happy.
jawillwill Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 We might even get some good coverage on the Championship in the morning with all the postponments. Fantastic.
hypochondriac Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 i desperately want us to stay up but i fear we won`t with Mr Portvliet.. Well today is a good start. Well done to Jan and Wotte for getting size. It sounds like they identified exactly what was needed ad used their football knowledge to get it!
Thedelldays Posted 10 January, 2009 Posted 10 January, 2009 Well today is a good start. Well done to Jan and Wotte for getting size.
