MLG you were a huge fan on Koeman? Are you now saying he's a duff?

Nope, I liked Koeman. This thread is to highlight to people like you that Puel really isn't doing a bad job.

Ok, we'll have occasional setbacks in the season, but that isn't the time for the endless negative drivel. Look at the bigger picture and we remain with a good chance of finishing top of the "best of the rest" outside the top 6 rich clubs.

Scoring more goals would of course be nice, but it is points/league positions that matter and Puel so far is performing well.

Amen to that :)

Good stat. I was in the Puel camp anyway, but it's reassuring to see that stat if only to calm my already shattered nerves. Having said that, I just took a look at the table, and I saw that everyone above is has a right to be there, and we are in a position that is a fraction above where we should expect to be. From here on in, the rest of the season will be about showing character and trying to sneak a couple of places above our weakest "superiors" in this division.

Apart from a few games our play under Koeman was generally poor.I never understood why we mocked West Ham for their hoofball when we were pretty much the most hoofball team in the league. Winning games clouds the judgement on how we performed.

That's not something I've heard leveled at us since coming back to the premier league , We've generally been known as a good footballing side who play it "the right way" what ever that is !?

Let's not forget that Koeman had Mane. If we had Mane in our side all season we would have a lot more points in the league and still be in Europe.

Yes, Koeman had Mane last season but was also out of Europe and 5 places below where we are now at this stage of the season. Mane only really started firing on all cylinders in the second half of the season. From what I've seen of Boufal thus far, it wouldn't surprise me if he had a similar impact this season.

What point are you tring to make ?

I would like to have seen a little deeper analysis, like goals scored and conceeded. Without it, I perceive we are tighter at the back, but havent got a Scooby's about how to win games.

After 17 games:

2015 Relentless Koeman winning machine = 5 wins.

2016 Claude Puel without a Scooby how to win games = 6 wins.

Koeman started last season terribly and was 2 games from being sacked? Yet starting very similar shows us all how great Puel is?

2016/17 P17 W6 D6 L5

2015/16 P17 W5 D6 L6

Koeman was almost sacked for his start yet Puels start is celebrated?

Not celebrated what the this shows isn't we haven't got substantially worse despite what you an others have tried to make out.

We lost a manager, some good players, had to play far more games than previous seasons all in a league arguably harder than last seasons and yet we are pretty much maintaining our level good news I'd say.

I wouldn't say it's a harder league this year? 24 points at this stage last season and we would be 10th. Top 5 are stronger but the mid and lower end are weaker imho

As for far more games - it's 3! 3 more games (270 minutes) more than this time last season

Well Puel has played a lot more fixtures and has rotated the squad brilliantly and given the academy players a chance. I thought Koeman was a good manager too, by the way.

Happy to stand corrected if you can point out some of the fixtures that I've missed or counted twice.

I still think that Puel is a good manager, as was Koeman.

Its clear to all sensible fans that whilst things can always improve we are absolutley nowhere near as bad as

the "doom posse" are making out but the desperation they are showing to avoid giving any credit to the club this season is a bit pathetic.

We all knew RK and the players who left were decent but is has not become dooms day and our abilty to move forward

should be respected.

At this stage of last season, Koeman's first 24 games were over a duration of 142 days, which equates to a game every 5.9 days on average.

At this stage of this season, Puel's 26 games have been over a duration of 127 days, which equates to a game played every 4.9 days on average.

So, on average, Puel has had a day less preparation for each game and is in a slightly better position than Koeman's team as things stand.

Not bad.

That's a gross over simplification as last seasons Europa games were all out of the way in the first couple of weeks of the season....but you knew that any way.

Well summarised, trousers!

Of course, I'd say it's not all about results - style of football & chances given to academy players should also be considered - but if we are only looking at results here it's worth bearing in mind that what made last season so successful was our performance from January onwards (even if we did seem a bit lucky at times).

Would any of the forum bellends like to comment on Claude Puels apparent lack of passion....assuming you saw his reaction to Jay Rods third yesterday?

As usual, ridiculous levels of early doors mattress swamping !

LOL. It was class he went ****ing chicken oriental!!!

But but but, his interviews are so boring so the players get bored and play boring football...

I live in Quebec and have to speak french 3-4 times a day and even though I can mostly be understood, I can only converse with very simple French and the hardest thing is to put inflection into the correct parts of words/sentences. I probably sound boring too, but that doesn't make me clueless or passionless.

Maybe he is doing a MP. I can't imagine any manager likes doing media duties. Make yourself as boring as possible, and maybe they leave you alone. MP decided to do it differently via his translator.
