dronskisaint Posted 15 December, 2016 Share Posted 15 December, 2016 Excellent - seemed to wobble a bit on his progress but that might have been to do with the Lying Dutchman - well pleased - South Coast boy too!
Gunnery Posted 15 December, 2016 Share Posted 15 December, 2016 At the risk of being cynical, why is everyone so excited about two players who never play for us anyway?

doddisalegend Posted 15 December, 2016 Share Posted 15 December, 2016 (edited) I'm assuming we will start to see more of Reed now then (starting against Bournemouth I guess) Edited 15 December, 2016 by doddisalegend

Well said that man. Who wouldn't be happy that 2 of our young players are deemed good enough to get new contracts.
Gunnery Posted 15 December, 2016 Share Posted 15 December, 2016 Don't get me wrong, it's great news (for them) I just can't see them making a starting spot their own any time soon.

austsaint Posted 15 December, 2016 Share Posted 15 December, 2016 Good player, in my opinion he should get more game time. Yes, I know he has had to bide his time behind the Wanyamas, Morgans and Romeus, but I've always seen a player in this lad. Also think he has a few more technical/expansive skills than Koeman's famous quote ever gave him credit for.

Globetrotter Posted 15 December, 2016 Share Posted 15 December, 2016 Would actually like to see him play more alongside Romeu with the latter further advanced, given that he seems better at driving forward than Prowsey et al Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
davefizzy14 Posted 15 December, 2016 Share Posted 15 December, 2016 Good News. Reed is another top talent - always been hugely impressed when he has played.

Charlie Wayman Posted 16 December, 2016 Share Posted 16 December, 2016 These things used to happen routinely in the background without all the fuss and razzmatazz surrounding recent contract renewals of Academy grads so Gunnery is perfectly right to be a little cynical about what is really going on up there. Smokescreen for sure. Good to see that Les Reed is still alive, he has been so invisible of late that some may have feared he had disappeared for good. Now let's have a photo op for the missing chairman who's name escapes me just at the moment.
John Boy Saint Posted 17 December, 2016 Share Posted 17 December, 2016 Would like to see him played more, personally I think he offers more than Clasie for starters. Always remember MP bringing him on v Citeh it was like a Jack Russell let loose in a field of Postmen, he only fancied a nip of one: Aguero. After being harried (no pun intended) for about the 3rd time Aguero just gave the ball away with a look of "will you leave me alone!!". This season v Sunderland in the cup, playing in the Romeu position he was up against a wardrobe and an American fridge freezer in their front line, he couldn't give two hoots about the size differential, more "Give me the ball" "bye boys". He commented recently that Claude had a word with him, about his temperament, seems, as he said himself, to have taken that on board and is now pushing his way right back into the frame. austsaint Posted 17 December, 2016 Share Posted 17 December, 2016 I wouldn't argue with your assessment that Reed can offer as much or more than Clasie. I'd go further and say he offers more than JWP can in central defensive midfield roles - and Hesketh or Sims offer more in attacking areas than JWP when he's played in more advanced attacking roles as he was against Stoke. Sunday against Bournmouth is a great time to throw Reed in for Romeu and start to test these theories out.
Charlie Wayman Posted 17 December, 2016 Share Posted 17 December, 2016 Koeman's criticism of Reed was always that he was not decisive enough, quickly enough when receiving the ball, that he needed too much time on the ball before deciding on his next pass and so was often caught in possession. Koeman clearly thought that receiving and passing the ball should flow in one movement instinctively and probably he was right. There is no time in the Premier league for thinking when on the ball, we saw much the same with Jorde Clasie when he arrived here but he has of course learned to read the game much better now at PL pace and is a much better player for it. Reed is a youngish player and hopefully will improve with time but he needs match time to speed up his mental and physical co-ordination.

Gemmel Posted 18 December, 2016 Share Posted 18 December, 2016 Harrison Reed is a decent player, but today he was dog sh!ite. The half time substitution would have brought him back down to earth from his contract signing week.

IMO the substitution was more tactical than to do with Reed's performance.

I thought Harry was better than Hoj fist half, but to be fair Hoj pulled his socks up after the break. I though Clasie put in a pretty decent shift all game. The half time substitution would have brought him back down to earth from his contract signing week. The stats put him on 89% passing completion and one turnover. 2 tackles, an interception, 2 clearances. Clasie had 1 tackle in the entire match and that was his only defensive contribution statistically. What's dog****e is your assessment of the game and your entire post. ESPN Verdict; MF Harrison Reed, 4 -- Woefully inadequate before being hauled off at half-time. I guess Puel agreed with me as well. I also note that you were suggesting that Mcqueen should start above Bertrand ::scared:
SuperSAINT Posted 3 January, 2017 Author Share Posted 3 January, 2017 Is it fair to say that after Romeu played 3 games in 6 days, Puel doesn't rate Harrison Reed?
