The striker debate has raged on for sometime now - From pre-season all the way through to now. Austin is rumoured to be out for 3 to 4 months and we are amongst the lowest scorers in the league.

 

Discussion has ranged from the need for a Pelle-type to a Mané-type striker.

Austin for 1 if he is outfor 3-4months, for all the nonsense that we replaced Pelle when we signed Austin, we always needed another forward

If we bring back Gallagher and he does well Reed will be blamed for loaning him out in the first place. If we bring back Gallagher and he does badly, Reed will be blamed for using a cheap option for our striking problems. If we bring back Gallagher and sign someone else as well Reed will be blamed for staling the progress Gallagher was making at Blackburn by not getting enough game time.

I'm hoping the rumours of us being interested in Daniel Sturridge are true. If he stays fit he'd be the class of forward we've needed since we came up and established ourselves.

What is it with the obsession with Haller, have any of you seen him play? He is utter junk. I swear some of you would put a lamp post in a saints shirt up front for the sake of having a "focal point" and "hold up play".

We need another Mané not another Pellè.

Klopp has said Sturridge won't be leaving in January. We were very close to signing Haller in August but pulled the plug on the deal at the last minute. Expect to see us go back for him.

Someone the Manager rates and trusts (he is obviously not sure on Long).

 

A player with better movement than Austin, better technique/composure than Long and more confidence than Jay Rod.

 

Probably no such player exists on loan.

 

Hopefully we get someone for the long term though rather than a stop gap. Austin isnt what we need as a first choice striker anyway. Good season for someone to settle in as pressure will be off most likely from Feb onwards.

Icardi yes please, but not a hope in hell, Murphys a midfielder and always liked gayle but prob not value any more, despite his form/fitness if the price was right I'd have berahinho in a shot
