Shane Long southampton song

Whoever thought of the idea should be sacked. Whoever recruited that person at the club should be sacked.

There are some real tools involved in football these days, Vardy masks, Gundogan t-shirts, fcking hastags on seats

It was the players idea. The same players you go and watch every week because you claim to be a Saints fan. The players that want to improve the atmosphere at the games because the fans spend so much time moaning that no one has time to cheer them on.

Claim to be a saints fan. Where have I made that claim?

And I am normally having a p1ss when it is on not reading the programme and tucking into my sandwiches getting all knowledgeable about it's creation.

Poor little snowflakes!!

Still just because it was their idea, doesn't make it a good one. Maybe from within their bubble they think it is. It isn't.

There's a reason players make **** songs. They are footballers

Please make them stop

It's not that bad... there's worse out there. The **** that they play at Goodison for example.

I agree. Sounds a lot better in the stadium that it does on the speakers of your phone/computer.

It's not perfect, the lyrics could do with tweaking and needs re-recording with someone that doesn't have a lisp, but it ain't the embarrassment people make it out to be.

If it had been released last season we'd have all been belting it out. Just unfortunate it's coincided with our worst run of results and dullest performances for years.

True story - Shane Long was meant to sing the song himself... turned up to record it and the rest of the team turned up to 'support' him. Lost his bottle and chickened out singing in front of everybody. That's why a lot of the team were in the video when it was released. The song was later recorded by a session singer instead.

Armstrong's version of OWTS was played at the end yesterday.

The Shane long song is fine, maybe our embarrassed fans should spend more effort to try and get fans singing than worrying about 1 minute's worth of music that the players have put together.

More embarrassing for me is that SMS is a generally quiet and couldnt intimidate a group of 6 year old majorettes and that loads of people leave matches really early. Those are bigger fish to fry in terms of atmosphere!

Do you not think that with a bit of a more up tempo song before games might help create a bit of an atmosphere? I've no issue with them playing the song itself but as a piece of music to whip up the crowd just as the teams come out it's not very good. Obviously would be great if the fans themselves just belted out a song before games but at 12am on a Sunday sometimes they need a bit of a hand!

I know. I cringe every time I go to Anfield

The obvious difference there being that You'll Never Walk Alone isn't a song written specifically for Liverpool FC. Nor is Glad All Over at Palace for example.

Ours on the other hand is a song which we have adapted the lyrics to and have a player singing it.

We already have a perfectly good uptempo song when the players come out. Only now we've decided to cut short The Saints Are Coming to replace it with the dirge of this new song.
