Puel out

I could understand not being thrilled at Monk but surely, if we appointed him there wouldn't be many that would be absolutely gutted? At worst it's "Meh".

It would be an utter clusterfu ck of an appointment. I'd take Puel all day over Monk who has basically done eff all as a manager - a glorified honeymoon period with another managers team at Swansea and then failure at Leeds.

He played a handful of matches for us and that seems to make some people think he has some kind of spiritual home here.

Would be a dreadful appointment. Bizarre people slagging Puel are getting wet for a failed Championship level manager.

I'd be gutted that would be a total step back. If the club are going to replace Puel its needs to be with someone better than Monk/Moyes/Pellegrini/Howe now if they could get (and pretty doubtful they could) a Tuchel/Unai Emery/Laurent Blanc type signing than they should go for it.

I am not in the know... Ever.

However, these 2 bits of info came to me today. Can't openly reveal source, but it comes from inside the club.

1. Dusan's falling out with CP is widely reported even amongst the tabloids. However what is not openly reported is a number of players 'silent protest' of CP. This protest includes turning their backs on him in the dressing room, as well as non-communication with him.

2. A meeting has been called tomorrow to formally decide/declare CP's future.

Believe it or not as you will, but this is my 3rd post today, so I can't comment more till tomorrow.

we shall see

Which time were we lucky to play them? I suppose Koeman was unlucky to play them in the quarter final the year before. We played them 4 times spread over the whole season & they didn't beat us once, not only that but they didn't score a single goal (boring, Klopp out). They finished 4th & along the way battered a couple of sides. What is your obsession with doing Puel down over everything. It shows a lack of class to make out everything was poor or lucky.

Liverpool were massively out of form during the time we played them in the cup .

Yes or no ?

Pellegrini should not be amongst that lot.

just my opinion but at 63 hardly one for the future plus you have to question the drive and enthusiasm for the game of any manager(or player) prepared to go to China (where he finished 7th in a 16team league last Chinese season)

Wouldn't go for Pelligrini as he's not a tracksuit manager. Saints have a young squad and want a manager who will improve the players, something that Puel has done by and large. Where Puel seems to have fallen short is in his tactics and motivation as well as the general style of football we've been playing.

I laughed whenI saw the same people who criticised our football as being boring jump on the Silva bandwagon. He is Known for parking the bus, very effectively but much more boring than Puel.

I can see both sides of the argument regarding Puel but am edging towards the Puel Outcamp, not because Ibelieve some of the cobblers written on here but because I'm not sure he has it within him to turn the current situation around and get us where we want to be.

Also there is a currently available manager who would suit us perfectly. He's very attacking, high energy and his team's press high up the field. Think MoPo or Klopp, probably more the latter than the former as his Achilles heal is the goals conceded column. He got sacked this season even though his team beat Spurs away and only got knocked out of the Champions League by Athletico. His teams play a high pressing 4 2 2 2 style and he encourages them to get a shot in on goal within 7 seconds of winning the ball.

His name is Roger Schmidt and he made Leverkusen one of the most exciting teams in Europe.

If we could get him I'd be happy to see Puel go, otherwise I'm not so sure.

I remember that someone on this forum mentioned that Fonte and Bertand were acting up during Puel's speech at (I think) the club's xmas function. It all reflects poorly on the players, but it also reflects badly on the manager's leadership skills if relations and respect deteriorated to that level.

I've been telling people this for weeks, but it still doesn't stop certain posters from the Puel in camp ignoring the facts and continue to argue 'he got us to 8th and a cup final, what more do you want?'

No you didn't tell us that. You told us the players where un happy with the way nasty Claude was treating them. You didn't tell us the players acted like unprofessional ****s..

Was referring to the fact he's iost the dressing room and that bit is news to me to be honest. If true, then totally out of order. I know a number of players lost all respect for him, and had a number of fall outs, but if they've taken the **** (openly) and turned there back in him, then they should face some sort of punishment. Although it's probably too late now.

Unfortunately, it just demonstrates player power at pretty much all clubs these days and confirms exactly why Puel needs to go, which I'm still confident he will.

I have heard exactly the same plus some were openly taking the **** out of Puel on team bus.

They sound like an under 13s side. I'm no Puel fan, but this is not on.

Puel may well go but I wouldn't be surprised if the players involved get moved out to. It makes no footballing sense to get rid of Bertrand but if he has been a problem in the dressing room I wouldn't be surprised if Les gets rid of him. Looks more than likely why Fonte was moved on.

Yep I think I posted that. Fonte, Bertrand and Redmond were mocking Puel during his speech at the Christmas dinner.

When we created the link between player and management role for SKD, I bet he didn't think he'd be this busy!

Wouldn't believe anything at the moment. Lots of damning rumours flying around.

Maybe having the SKD role has caused the problem.

When you become the middle person you almost distance the players from the boss.

Do we have any proof that Tadic or Bertrand are or were a bad influence?

Did this all start from a rumour and has now become fact?

I get the impression it started with Fonte (him being the ringleader) and a number of others followed, in terms of loss of respect.

I've not officially been told that, just putting 2+2 together fromwhat ive been told.

Fonte was definitely a bad influence since coming back from euros.

No, it says that Puel has lost the respect of the players and no authority. It's like naughty kids playing up in front of a poor teacher.

Except they aren't naughty school kids they are highly paid adult professionals doing lots of peoples dream job and should know better.

We all do it... We are demotivated and mess about a poor boss, and work our nadgers off for a good one. Human nature I suppose.

Ref. Rockingham Arms, in reply to a previous post from yesterday, I can't now be bothered to find.

I frequented the place late 70's early 80's, but have only been back once since, and that was about 5 years ago. Nothing to do with our common resident.

You would like to think so, but just like in the classroom, you always have the stupid ones who are sadly lacking in brains, so spend their time acting the fool instead.

But a poor teacher doesn't stamp down on it and put a line in the sand. Remember koeman dropped Mane for his lateness, sets the standard.

Just looked Wikipedia.

Swiss second division?

What a tragic waste of such beautiful hair.

Why do all the must hipster must appointment managers end up doing spectacularly badly? yakin in the Swiss league 2 and last years favourite Paco Jemez sacked after a handful of games in his next job and now managing in mexico somewhere

Not really if you're a decent level professional.

Its funny, fans go on about the importance of loyalty. About not necessarily minding the quality of player, as long as they give 100%. Now we've got a manager giving 100% versus players on £50k a week acting like kids and many fans side with the players and want the manager sacked, with no time for loyalty?

Strange.

Neither are they cattle to be herded by whips. There are plenty of books on how to manage people to get the best out of them. It could be that Puel just doesn't have what it takes.

Haha, Paco Jemez's failings are spectacular, Granada's worst start in 70 years and lasted just six games ?

Maybe he isn't a very good manager but that does not, in any way, justify open hostility of unprofessional behaviour at public events, like the awards dinner.

If they hate Puel and want to leave then good for them but in the meantime they can do their ****ing job properly and show some respect.

The people saying, "we all act like ****s if we don't like our boss" are just showing themselves up, to be honest.
