Matthew Le God Posted 10 December, 2016 Posted 10 December, 2016 was it bloating the squad when we signed Austin last January? I'm lost as to your point... as Austin was signed as a pre-emptive replacement for Pelle's departure.
Batman Posted 10 December, 2016 Posted 10 December, 2016 I'm lost as to your point... as Austin was signed as a pre-emptive replacement for Pelle's departure. says who? but was the squad bloated? having Pelle and Austin ensured we finished 6th
saint77 Posted 10 December, 2016 Posted 10 December, 2016 says who? but was the squad bloated? having Pelle and Austin ensured we finished 6th Exactly
SuperSAINT Posted 10 December, 2016 Posted 10 December, 2016 Austins out for 3 months Squad looking like it will be rotated again tomorrow Expect a striker in on Loan, possibly 2 players arriving in Jan. Is that a striker on loan PLUS 2 players?
Lighthouse Posted 10 December, 2016 Posted 10 December, 2016 says who? but was the squad bloated? having Pelle and Austin ensured we finished 6th It's fairly obviously the case. We have the same number of attacking players as we've had the last couple of seasons. The problem is some of them just aren't good enough, namely Long and J Rod. If they, and Boufal, were playing consistently well we wouldn't be having this conversation. Is that a striker on loan PLUS 2 players? If you are expecting more than one striker in, you are likely to be disappointed.
Charlie Wayman Posted 10 December, 2016 Posted 10 December, 2016 I'm sick of hearing people calling JWP a dead ball 'speacialist' he simply isn't!! If you take that away from him what's left to justify a place in the team? There's nothing else on offer.
Batman Posted 10 December, 2016 Posted 10 December, 2016 if the squad will be 'rotated' again... Forster Cedric Fonte VvD Bertrand Romeu JwP Clasie Boufal Long Tadic I reckon Sooner or later, this mass-rotation will have to ease up
Pamplemousse Posted 10 December, 2016 Posted 10 December, 2016 if the squad will be 'rotated' again... Forster Cedric Fonte VvD Bertrand Romeu JwP Clasie Boufal Long Tadic I reckon Sooner or later, this mass-rotation will have to ease up Now there's no European football, then yes. But with it being the Christmas period and there being lots of games, rotation will be the best way to go.
Batman Posted 10 December, 2016 Posted 10 December, 2016 Now there's no European football, then yes. But with it being the Christmas period and there being lots of games, rotation will be the best way to go. 6 or 7 players every time? really?
SuperSAINT Posted 10 December, 2016 Posted 10 December, 2016 6 or 7 players every time? really? When we play on a weekend after a Mid-week game then I expect us to rotate still.
Batman Posted 10 December, 2016 Posted 10 December, 2016 When we play on a weekend after a Mid-week game then I expect us to rotate still. 2 - 3 or 6 - 7?
vivasadio Posted 10 December, 2016 Posted 10 December, 2016 how do we know austin is out for 3 months?
Pamplemousse Posted 10 December, 2016 Posted 10 December, 2016 Apparently Gaston didn't even travel down here with the rest of the squad. Seems that our old friend David Nugent might play.
SuperSAINT Posted 10 December, 2016 Posted 10 December, 2016 Apparently Gaston didn't even travel down here with the rest of the squad Would be a huge plus. (Then again, I thought that about Cabaye/Wickham/Remy missing for Palace against us & look how that turned out!)
Sour Mash Posted 10 December, 2016 Posted 10 December, 2016 Dembele from Celtic Surprised we didn't go for him in the summer. Unattainable unless we pay a ridiculous amount of money now.
Yorkshire Saint Posted 10 December, 2016 Posted 10 December, 2016 how do we know austin is out for 3 months? LeG above ... reliable ITK
benjii Posted 10 December, 2016 Posted 10 December, 2016 It is effectively to cover for Austin's injury, if we signed a striker on a perm it would be bloating the squad. Austin is the first choice striker, other strikers are his back-up so when Austin is fit in March what do you propose we do with a perm striker you want to sign on a 4 or 5 year deal? Sign someone better than the very average Austin, would be good.
Dark Munster Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 We should have sorted this in the summer.
Chris27687 Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 Sign someone better than the very average Austin, would be good. Unless we get Aubemeyang I will be outraged!
Gunnery Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 Sad thing is, we don't really have anyone else. Oops...quoted wrong post
Gunnery Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 Just sign berahinio already. 4 games, 0 goals, 0 assists, 6 shots He'd fit in well....
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 Don't think I have ever woken up feeling so underwhelmed about a game of football. Just can't see us scoring. The memory of us chasing two goals in 10 minutes only to bring on Ward-Prowse will haunt me for a long time. But I am going to get behind the team for the duration of the game even if it takes some effort.
wild-saint Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 says who? but was the squad bloated? having Pelle and Austin ensured we finished 6th i agree totally but it does make me laught that you think PELLE and austin ensured we finished 6th when you *****ed relentlessly about pelle being shyte. apologies if it want you but cant be arsed to check back ??

I didn't rate pelle but let's not pretend he didn't score some goals

But I am going to get behind the team for the duration of the game even if it takes some effort. That sub made sense. They couldn't defend crosses. We should have done that earlier. In fact, wasn't he involved in the creation of the Yoshida header that should have won us the match?
northam soul Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 All I need from Puel is to finally recognise what he believes is his best side. Never before have I heard a manager say on several occasions that I don't know my best team. Well now is the time to Claude to sort that out.
wild-saint Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 I didn't rate pelle but let's not pretend he didn't score some goals of course he did but it make me laugh at the irony. maybe you look back at what we had with clearer eyes
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 Apparently Gaston didn't even travel down here with the rest of the squad. Good old Gaston. Frequently injured when he was here & now even injured when he is due to play here against us. #consistent
The Cat Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 I heard a Boro fan on the radio yesterday saying how they spend most of the time passing sideways and backwards. If true this has all the makings of an utterly riveting match.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 I didn't rate pelle but let's not pretend he didn't score some goals You slagged him off daily when he was here and now tell us how much we have missed him ... Hypocrite
Heisenberg Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 After Thursdays pathetic efforts you'd normally expect a HUGE reaction - a performance full of passion and 100% commitment - an apology performance to all Saints fans for that absolute **** show Thursday Will we get an apology performance? Does this current mob/manager even have any passion? Guess we will find out in a few hours

LuckyNumber7 Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 If ever a game had 0-0 written all over it, it's this one. So will probably finish 3-3.
sadoldgit Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 says who? but was the squad bloated? having Pelle and Austin ensured we finished 6th Yep and who would have thought that given how crap you kept saying Pelle was at every opportunity.
DT Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 I'm going to do my 'avoiding match at all costs' thing today in a bid to try and give the team some good luck and three points. Will tune in at full time. Glad to be of service
BILLY Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 Leicester managed it yesterday but not confident we will. Puel has no passion. Most dour and boring manager ever.
suewhistle Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 Southern Railways and their staff doing their thing hence a substitute bus service which is to be avoided. Pre-match anaesthesia is hereby suspended as I'll be driving. Hopefully I can rush home to celebrate...
St.JonB Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 Going to need to start drinking early today to help numb the pain. We need to show some urgency and play with pace otherwise the atmosphere will be terrible.
Bridge Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 I wonder what sh!te they will serve up today for us to see...I have never been so underwhelmed by a Saints team! Final third is abysmal.
Guernsey guy Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 Please no Redmond after his horror show Thursday, How he didn't get subbed off is shocking
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 I wonder what sh!te they will serve up today for us to see...I have never been so underwhelmed by a Saints team! Final third is abysmal. You must either be a new fan or have a bad memory then.

Pamplemousse Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 First 15 minutes I really hope we go for it and try and get an early lead. Middlesbrough will come here and play for a point, especially with key players out injured

Pass the Dutchie Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 I'm really hoping for a Shane Long goal and a Tadic goal today.
Dusic Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 I'm really hoping for a Shane Long goal and a Tadic goal today. Lets just hope for a goal. Although we really need Long to start scoring otherwise he is a big problem on big money for another 3 and a half seasons.

Although we really need Long to start scoring otherwise he is a big problem on big money for another 3 and a half seasons. I'll be overjoyed with any goal of course, but a Long goal would feel like a double.
SuperSAINT Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 I'm really hoping for a Shane Long goal and a Tadic goal today. Vardy scored after going 300 games without scoring yesterday so let's hope the same happens for Shane.
VectisSaint Posted 11 December, 2016 Posted 11 December, 2016 Vardy scored after going 300 games without scoring yesterday so let's hope the same happens for Shane. Hope not, he has a few games to go if that's the case
