St Chalet Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Bad day at the office. We need a bit of consistency. We struggle if we concede first. I predict a riot....
jamesfp1 Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 There are bad days at the office. And then there are days when you arrive late to the office only to find out the company has gone into liquidation. You get home after having to stand for the whole journey because there were no seats on the train, which was delayed. On arrival at your front door you realise you've forgotten your keys. You've then scaled the conservatory and gone through the bathroom window, only to find your best mate hanging out the back of your wife.
Heisenberg Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Is this worse than the Hull, Sunderland, Prague "performances"? For me yes - this is/was a Palace side without a league clean sheet in 8 months and just lost 6 in a row They conceded 5 last week to Swansea FFS We managed 2 shots on target all game - embarrassing
OttawaSaint Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Took our eyes off the ball today, maybe the Be'er game is a distraction. Huge huge game that.
OldNick Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 we didnt do enough business in the summer to be able to fight on 3 fronts. If we get through on Thursday in the Europa all things will lokk rosy again and we can stop doing quite so much rotation
striker Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Silver lining: at least we're not Swansea. Or Leicester
Window Cleaner Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Mid-table side, mid-table results, win some, lose some.
OttawaSaint Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Is this worse than the Hull, Sunderland, Prague "performances"? obelisk Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Three tap ins from a couple of yards out. Looks like the defence is now as bad as the attack.
Pamplemousse Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Fonte needs to be sold. He's a liability. Yoshida has played better than him this season.
Edmonton Saint Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Keeper that by and large doesn't save shots, and a powderpuff attack that doesn't score goals. Recipe for disaster, we're going to be in a relegation scrap whether we care to admit it or not.
Dark Munster Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Or Leicester I love the way they put all their eggs in one basket.
Charlie Wayman Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Just get rid of Redmond, Austin and Ward Prowse. Simple really. Total Shambles. Only Cedric played with any credit and Bertie who started before being knackered.
Sheaf Saint Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Palace have what we don't have - fast attacking players who know where the goal is. I didnt see the first half but from what I did see it wasn't an overall awful performance. It's just that the utter lack of quality in the final 3rd is really starting to hurt us now. Genuine question here - when was the last time we even scored after conceding first? I can't remember. It seems that as soon as we give the opposition a lead to protect, we just know we won't penetrate their defence. Losing away from home and needing a goal, and relying on Shane Sunday-League Long from the bench is never, ever going to produce the required result.
Dalek2003 Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 we didnt do enough business in the summer to be able to fight on 3 fronts. If we get through on Thursday in the Europa all things will lokk rosy again and we can stop doing quite so much rotation In that case, we better get out of Europe and the EFL Cup and concentrate on the Premier league. I've said this all along.
simo Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Oh well the least important of our current block of games to win , hopefully we've used up a chunk of our calamities for the next year or so but you could argue on paper that was our strongest team !
Pamplemousse Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Keeper that by and large doesn't save shots, and a powderpuff attack that doesn't score goals. Recipe for disaster, we're going to be in a relegation scrap whether we care to admit it or not. Behave. There are many teams that are worse than us. We'll finish mid table and at the start of the season I would've been happy with that.
Plumstead_Saint Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Meh. I'll take that if it comes with beating Arsenal and a win next Thursday. Didn't really want to be the team that got Pardew sacked anyway. Palace looked cr@p and devoid of confidence until Forster handed them a goal on a plate. Most embarrassing moment of Fraser's career [better had be!]. Despite the result, thought Redmond was good, some nice skills [but no finishing] from Boufal and Cedric MOTM for me.
Katalinic Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Palace have what we don't have - fast attacking players who know where the goal is. That had **** all to do with the defeat today. All our own doing.
OttawaSaint Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 I love the way they put all their eggs in one basket. But they only made 2 changes so they must be leading the prem...

Losing away from home and needing a goal, and relying on Shane Sunday-League Long from the bench is never, ever going to produce the required result. To be fair to Long, he did more than Austin.
badgerx16 Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 (edited) For all our attacking free kicks and corners, not a single effort on goal resulted. Our crossing is generally poor, and if we do manage to get in a good one there isn't anybody in the box to get on the end of it. Let's hope the team discover some pride and passion before Thursday's kick off. Edited 3 December, 2016 by badgerx16
bpsaint Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Each time it feels like we've turned a corner we serve up ****e like that. This was a poor poor Palace side we were going up against and we made them look a class above. Poor performances and bad tactics cost us massively today. Redmond is the new Jermaine Wright, JWP is back to his average best, and Fonte looks a shade of his usual self, he's having a laugh if he thinks he'll be getting that move to United. Thoroughly ****ed off now, sublime to ridiculous in 3 days FFS.
Ohio Saint Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 I still think this result was a bit of an anomaly started by the Forster blooper. However, it is way too close to the hull result. I'm sure we will finish mid table, time to make our best efforts in the cup games. We can still come out of this season with some silver.
Dalek2003 Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Keeper that by and large doesn't save shots, and a powderpuff attack that doesn't score goals. Recipe for disaster, we're going to be in a relegation scrap whether we care to admit it or not. I fear you are right. I called this at the start of the season and was lambasted for such comments. I warned about the fact that we had not invested in the summer to be involved in Europe and was ridiculed. We need to hope we can get to 40 points or we will be in the Championship next year.
verlaine1979 Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Mid-table side, mid-table results, win some, lose some. Not scoring mid-table numbers of goals though. 13 goals in 14 games equates to 35 over the course of the season. That has a distinctly dicey feel to it, particularly as we haven't looked remotely like putting three past anyone since those West Ham and Burnley games.
Sheaf Saint Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Fonte needs to be sold. He's a liability. Yoshida has played better than him this season. Agreed. Fonte left Benteke completely unmarked for the third goal. Schoolboy stuff.
Pamplemousse Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 I think the midfield three of Romeu, Hojbjerg and JWP doesn't work. Steven Davis should've played in hindsight. Two home games next up, hopefully two wins.
Edmonton Saint Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Our home form is far far too good for relegation ffs. I agree with everything else. we’ve failed to beat three out of the current bottom four so far this season(before todays game..lol) how good are we really?
Pamplemousse Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 we’ve failed to beat three out of the current bottom four so far this season, how good are we really? Acutally, on the current league table, we've beaten 2 of the bottom 4.
Baird of the land Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Well that was terrible. Not terrible as in completely terrible football but just too toothless and switched off defensively. Forster with a comedy error to give them a boost when their crowd was nervy as anything. Then refuse to defend either of their corners properly. That made it even more annoying that we only had one decent chance from a set piece despite having multiple more than them. Outside of that shambles we really missed some good opportunities to get back into the game, Hojberg's on the stroke of halftime, Boufal's just after halftime and Fonte's with about 10 minutes to go. There seems to be a group on Redmond's back but i thought he was ok, especially in 2nd half.Thought austin was awful today, don't know why we waited till 75 minute to replace him with long who looked good in his cameo. I'd have had him on at ht or at latest 60 mins. Boufal flattered to deceive. Some wonderful skill first half but second half he was really poor. Sims when he came on gave the ball away and fluffed a half decent chance. It was really annoying as palace were there for the taking if Saints could actually he ruthless and clinical. Only bright spark is i thought this might happen and brought benteke into my fantasy side.
Plastic Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Took our eyes off the ball today, maybe the Be'er game is a distraction. Huge huge game that. I think so
Ohio Saint Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 we’ve failed to beat three out of the current bottom four so far this season(before todays game..lol) how good are we really? Probably better than you think!

If we were 4 points clear at the top of the table you would still trot out the same tired b0ll0x.
doggface Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 We are bang average this season and negative. We won't go down, will be midtable been pitiful away from home this season. Unprofessional performance against a poor side. Similar game to Hull. So many poor performances today. Special shout to Forster and Hojberg who has been generally poor since the 1st month. 3 goals as poor as you will see. Boufal one of the only bright sparks. Cedric good going forward. Can only think golden boy Redmond is blowing Puel.
Roger Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Fonte needs to be sold. He's a liability. Yoshida has played better than him this season. He's been excellent recently.
St Marco Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Great performance by us. Puel was the tactical genius against the most inform team in the country. We kept Palace under control the whole game and the selection was spot on. Redmond and Prowse were threats everytime they got the ball. Their defence couldnt handle them! Sure we lost but boy we are awesome! We might have the second worst goals for in the league but it doesnt reflect how great we are. You can't blame the attackers when their defenders and keepers pull off those amazing blocks and last gasp saves every game! All in all there is nothing to be negative about! On to the must win game in Europe next week. If we play like we have over the past 5 league games where we have 4 points from 15 we should cruise to a 20-0 win! (disclosure - not saying anything negative incase cb fry and co start crying and say i enjoy watching us lose. So only positive comments!)
Saint-Fred Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Our away form is terrible. The lack of goals (home and away) just 13 in the league- is really bad and that includes 3 at West Ham. It's a bit disappointing really.
Toomer Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Who loaded the gun that we used to shoot ourselves in the foot today, letting our better players go who knew where the back of the net was has caught up with us.
davefoggy Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Sorry everyone its my fault, after the win in midweek i said on here that its great to be a Saints fan right now GRrrrrrrrrrr hate football. We really really need a new keeper in January, Forster is barely a league one keeper. Too ****ing big, not agile enough, slow, lacks conventration, doesn't command his area, nevers comes off his line, never hear him communicating/shouting at his defence. Hes not a keeper
Katalinic Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Please stop quoting all of the annoying ****s - thanks.
Plumstead_Saint Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Keeper that by and large doesn't save shots, and a powderpuff attack that doesn't score goals. You two really are pathetic and don't deserve the title of supporter. Get a grip FFS. For all our attacking free kicks and corners, not a single effort on goal resulted. Our crossing is generally poor, and if we do manage to get in a good one there isn't anybody in the box to get on the end of it. Let's hope the team discover some pride and passio before Thursday's kick off. Get over yourself. The facts say we had 18 shots with 4 blocked, 3 on target, and 1 that hit the woodwork. We had more possession [58%], more accurate passes than Palarse and a higher pass success rate. Yes we lost. That was in large measure down to Forster's mistake. Now cheer up and focus on the next game.
Saint Pete Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 The poor goals we gave away will take the headlines today, but the more worrying issue is the way the goals have dried up at the other end in the league. Only 3 goals scored in the last 6 league games, not good enough by a long way. Change of tactics/formation required?
S-Clarke Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 That was pretty rubbish, although I'm somewhat not surprised. Everything was lined up for a Palace win today, and added to by the fact that our away form is horrific this year. Not much more worth saying.
Saints foreva Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Awful performance from everyone. Lol@people who think Forster is England's number 1. He's not even number 3.
Pamplemousse Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35014153 Look at where we were last December when we lost at Palace. And look at where they were! Same thing will happen this season. We'll find our form, and teams out of place like Watford and West Brom will slowly move down the table. We will finish in the top half, no problems.
