Gunnery Posted 1 December, 2016 Posted 1 December, 2016  Very good. It was....that was my hidden point, well spotted lickierambert!!
Sheaf Saint Posted 1 December, 2016 Posted 1 December, 2016 Given how we don't really have a first 11 any more, and how Puel manages to utilise the whole squad to field a team capable of competing against whoever we are playing, isn't it about time we renamed these build-up threads to the "see who can make the closest guess as to the starting 11 sweepstake" threads?
Andy Durman Posted 1 December, 2016 Posted 1 December, 2016 The side for Saturday will be:- FF Cedric, Fonte, VVD, Bertrand Romeu Højbjerg JWP Redmond, Austin, JayRod You herd it here folks
SuperSAINT Posted 1 December, 2016 Posted 1 December, 2016 Palace have shipped 17 goals in last 5 matches?! https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/dec/01/alan-pardew-january-transfer-plans-doubts-future-crystal-palace?CMP=share_btn_tw
VectisSaint Posted 1 December, 2016 Posted 1 December, 2016 The side for Saturday will be:- FF Cedric, Fonte, VVD, Bertrand Romeu Højbjerg JWP Redmond, Austin, JayRod You herd it here folks Nope, Davis for JWP. Hopefully Boufal for Redmond as well, but doubt it, seems like Redmond has a contract to play even when he is crap.
shurlock Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 Nope, Davis for JWP. Hopefully Boufal for Redmond as well, but doubt it, seems like Redmond has a contract to play even when he is crap. Is it modelled on the famous Guly contract? #corteseout
Gunnery Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 Is it modelled on the famous Guly contract? #corteseout And sponsored by Jermaine Wright !
GarrettIvo Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 The side for Saturday will be:- FF Cedric, Fonte, VVD, Bertrand Romeu Højbjerg JWP Redmond, Austin, JayRod You herd it here folks We can all flock together on this?
PeteCampbell Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 The side for Saturday will be:- FF Cedric, Fonte, VVD, Bertrand Romeu Højbjerg JWP Redmond, Austin, JayRod You herd it here folks How confident are you of this?
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 The side for Saturday will be:- FF Cedric, Fonte, VVD, Bertrand Romeu Højbjerg JWP Redmond, Austin, JayRod You herd it here folks Hope Jrod doesn't start tbh. Would rather see Sims up there. Hoping the fact that Boufal came off earlyish at Arsenal means he might start here too.
Convict Colony Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 Would swap in Davis and Boufal if they are recovered enough FF Cedric, Fonte, VVD, Bertrand Romeu Højbjerg Davis Redmond, Austin, Boufal
CB Fry Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 The side for Saturday will be:- FF Cedric, Fonte, VVD, Bertrand Romeu Højbjerg JWP Redmond, Austin, JayRod You herd it here folks Jay Rod seems an entirely pointless selection when the options of Bouf or Sims infinitely more appealing and Jesus Christ how tired can they be FFS etc.
SO16_Saint01 Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 We've been threatening to give someone a right good seeing to for a while now. If we continue to have all the chances, it's only a matter of time that we convert them. I'm hoping that tomorrow is the day, at Dellhurst Park. Palace 0 - 6 Saints [emoji1303]
Pamplemousse Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 According to the Palace forums, Redmond ALWAYS seems to play a blinder against them
SuperSAINT Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 PARDEW ON INJURIES Connor Wickham suffered a cruciate ligament injury in the 5-4 defeat to Swansea last weekend, to add to the growing list of injuries at Palace...with Pape Souare admitting he is not sure he will play football again. There's more bad news around Steve Mandanda too... "We've got a couple of problems in the squad. Connor's is a massive problem for us. "The injury Pape's had is so unique to football. There aren't many situations where someone in the game has had this. "That makes it tough to put a time on the recovery. He's in great spirits, has a positive personality. We love Pape. "Steve Mandanda's going to have an operation on his knee this week. We think he's out for 6 weeks. His knee locked up in training."
Pamplemousse Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 That Mandanda injury is a huge blow for them.
skintsaint Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 That Mandanda injury is a huge blow for them. Hennessey I remember having a blinder against us before though..
disconnect Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 Hennessey I remember having a blinder against us before though.. Hennessey is generally pretty poor, but yes, seemed to have his best ever game against us last(?) season. As I'm fairly local, have made it to a few games, and he's not great, but the real weak point is Martin Kelly at left back who is nowhere near good enough / comfortable on the left. Similar to when we used to play Yoshida at full back (but worse)...
salisbury saints1 Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 That's made me really optimistic about this one!
Charlie Wayman Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 We've been threatening to give someone a right good seeing to for a while now. If we continue to have all the chances, it's only a matter of time that we convert them. [emoji1303] Isn't that what we did on Wednesday night up at the Emirates?
saintant Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 I'd go with; FF Cedric, VVD, Fonte, Bertrand Romeu Davis, Hojbjerg Sims Long Boufal
Mattio Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 I'd go with; FF Cedric, VVD, Fonte, Bertrand Romeu Davis, Hojbjerg Sims Long Boufal Long?! He was terrible against Arsenal and also played the whole 90 so will surely not be starting anyway.
saintant Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 I don't think he was terrible against Arsenal - he caused them quite a few problems with his pace. Ok, he needs a goal or two but I believe away from home when we probably won't dominate possession he provides a good outlet. Charlie to come off the bench for me as his game is not so suited to away matches.
deadpanmatt Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 A mate if mine has two tickets for the game but can't go so he's ill. Send me a message if you're interested.

DT Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 The side for Saturday will be:- FF Cedric, Fonte, VVD, Bertrand Romeu Højbjerg JWP Redmond, Austin, JayRod You herd it here folks that's a shame. i was wondering what it was that made us so zippy against Arsenal and part of that i think was the absence of Redmond, sad to say
DT Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 Plus i was rather hoping that Jay Rod's performances of late would convince Puel not to play him again. Ho hum
austsaint Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 that's a shame. i was wondering what it was that made us so zippy against Arsenal and part of that i think was the absence of Redmond, sad to say Probably the absence of Austin and Ward-Prowse increased our zippiness too.
bpsaint Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 Palace are having a shocker at the moment, I'll be extremely disappointed and ****ed off if we don't get a point at the very minimum from this. A convincing win for us would probably spell the end of Pardew.
Heisenberg Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 No excuses for this one - palace have been rotten to the core Let's bag 3 points and get about WBA and Watford this weekend
Nordic Saint Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 Probably the absence of Austin and Ward-Prowse increased our zippiness too. More likely the absence of Redmond. He's slower than both of them.
Katalinic Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 No excuses for this one - palace have been rotten to the core Let's bag 3 points and get about WBA and Watford this weekend Admire your attitude, it's important you are positive after the disappointment of Wednesday - the forum felt for you that night.
Cheeky Monkey Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 We have 7 games in the next 28 days. It will catch up with us. The next 4 league games are crucial to get points on the board against teams we should beat or have a chance of beating
doddisalegend Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 We have 7 games in the next 28 days. It will catch up with us. The next 4 league games are crucial to get points on the board against teams we should beat or have a chance of beating Surely that's the point of Puel's constant squad rotation so it doesn't catch up with us.....
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 Palace are notoriously bad at defending set pieces this season so makes sense for JWP to play and someone like Austin or even VVD to head them in. I actually think some of Bertrand's deliveries recently have been just as good, if not better than JWP's. It's good to have a left and right footer to take them from different sides.
The Cat Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 Palace fans don't seem too confident. Some are hoping we win. https://www.holmesdale.net/page.php?id=106&tid=163871
Crab Lungs Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 More likely the absence of Redmond. He's slower than both of them. Terrible for £10m. Absolutely no left foot and predictable. Hopefully he'll get better, but he seems a bit 'Championship' to me.
Dusic Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Andy Durman had barely ever been right before so doubt he will be this time.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Terrible for £10m. Absolutely no left foot and predictable. Hopefully he'll get better, but he seems a bit 'Championship' to me. I wonder if Puel will persist with playing him as a 'striker' or might try him elsewhere soon. We have looked more like 4-3-3 recently so maybe he'll improve.
nta786 Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 I wonder if Puel will persist with playing him as a 'striker' or might try him elsewhere soon. We have looked more like 4-3-3 recently so maybe he'll improve. well if you compare Redmond to his actual replacement (Juanmi), then I'd argue hes been an okay buy. I wonder if Puel would have utilised Juanmi unlike Koeman- we never saw him and board clearly felt he was surplus to requirements and not good enough.
Dark Munster Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Palace have shipped 17 goals in last 5 matches?! https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/dec/01/alan-pardew-january-transfer-plans-doubts-future-crystal-palace?CMP=share_btn_tw That's why our friend Lawro is predicting they'll keep a clean sheet against us.
Saint Albert Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 According to the Telegraph, Palace have lined up Alardyce to replace Pardew if they lose this game.
Batman Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 That's why our friend Lawro is predicting they'll keep a clean sheet against us. to be fair, Hull were/are appalling defensively. They beat us and the goal they did concede was a penalty
SuperSAINT Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 to be fair, Hull were/are appalling defensively. They beat us and the goal they did concede was a penalty That game still haunts me.
St Marco Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Best possible time to play them away. They are shocking. 1 point from their last 21 on offer. 1 win at home all season. Letting in an average of 2 goals a game already! Possibly the worst defence there is right now. Add to that the manager under pressure and the crowd ****ed off. If we score early they will turn on the team and we could go on and score a ton of goals. I think even Jay and jwp could score against that lot! Obviously no games in the pl are gimmees but this one is as close to it as you will get. 0-4 to Saints!
danjosaint Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 I don't think it will be easy at all I think a scrappy 1v2
CB Fry Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Anything other than a comfortable victory and the meltdown train is back up and running. Sent from my HTC Desire 510 using Tapatalk
Mallagroth Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Based on this thread I'm predicting Redmond to score a brace one off each foot.
