But not Saints related and there's already a thread in The Lounge.

Technically correct, but as football fans... and human beings who can empathise with those who will be going through hell. This is surely on topic.

Thoughts to everyone associated with Chapecoense. What a horrifying tragedy.

It's on The Lounge, which is where it's meant to be. But yeah, all that stuff.

Perhaps forum moderation isn't the biggest concern right now? :mcinnes:

Perhaps we shouldn't just ignore the forum rules when someone feels like it? Or are we going to move the thread about the Terrorist Attacks, Donald Trump and Jimmy Savile onto the Main Board too, because, you know, they're tragic things that happened to people who go to football.

Incidentally, it is perfectly possible to have deep empathy with those affected and think people on here are lazy tossers at the same time. Anyway, for the lazies, here's the original thread, posted 3 hours before this one.

since when did this forum have rules...

whilst not strictly saints related, this is a massive tragedy for football, so can see why its on here.

RIP to those who sadly passed away, some very nice gestures from other football clubs too.

i cant even imagine what family members and the players went through, sad day indeed.

Here's a little video of a news report from their promotion. Really likable club that came from nowhere to compete in the top flight and make their first forays into continental-level football. There are a fair few parallels with us.

Terrible to think that some of the players who were interviewed after the game are no longer with us. Bruno Rangel, their Rickie Lambert, was among the dead.

Seeing as we took football to Brazil, it is very much on topic.

I see that many Brazilian teams have offered players at no cost and requested they be exempt from relegation for 3 years. Also that the team they were playing has offered a walk over in the final - and for their fans to turn up as normal to the final wearing white.

RJ85 British four engine aircraft. Not particularly long range. The standard RJ85 has a max fuel range of 1600 nm but at its Max take off weight the range is only 1150 nm.Their were rumours reported on the news, bad weather/mountains, Mayday quoting electrical problems and a comment from the area about running out of fuel. Medellin was the destination from Santa Cruz in Bolivia presumably a tech stop, a distance of over 1600 nm more than the fuel range of a standard RJ85. It may have been a combination of all three. Speculation but the quoted electrical problem could have been related to fuel starvation and loss of generators resulting in the crash. The Mayday may have been stating the lesser of the two evils, Wouldn't be the first time that aircraft have run out of fuel. A South American 707 holding for Kennedy crashed rather than declare lack of fuel, A DC8 crashed at Portland and a Concorde ran out of fuel on landing at LHR, pressed on rather than diverted. Just a couple of instances. This one just doesn't seem straight forward.

Give it a rest...

Draw some football kits or something.

International football community should mark this terrible tragedy.

God help their families.

FWIW I've given up caring where this thread sits now and have never suggested anything other than what you said in the third sentence.

I'm surprised MLG isn't all over your God comment though.

Derry. Santa Cruz wasn't a stopover. The team changed flights completely there. They had taken a commercial flight from Brazil to Santa Cruz because the charter operators did not have authority for flights from Brazil to Colombia according to the Anac. Apparently same plane used last week for the Argentine national team.

Thanks, another piece of the Jigsaw. I once had to hold over Colombia whilst an entry clearance to Peru was found. Sounds like the wrong aircraft for the flight unless it had long range tanks.
