Great ref, no cards, tried to keep the game flowing.

Couple of small decisions wrong, but far better than anything else we've had (bar Europa games).

Decent for once. A couple of times he stopped play when he could have let the advantage go but he kept control well. The players made it reasonably easy for him with no bad tackles or controversial penalty shouts to decide.

think it was last season or season before that against Everton which was still one of the worst refereeing displays I've seen at SMS.

Only thing that sticks in the mind is giving a foul by Austin when Williams grabbed him round the head. Not sure what that was for as they were both just going for an aerial ball before that.

Potentially got the penalty for Everton wrong when VVD tackled Lukaku.. Still can't work out if it's foul, VVD got the ball but kinda missed it first time. Reckon some refs could have given a penalty for missing the ball first time. Maybe

Not Saints related but for me the best refs are all those who have sent Mourinho to the stands. Too many to count, lol

Best ref we've had all season, to be honest - with the exception of a couple of dodgy corner/throw-in decisions where there were deflections he got all the important stuff right apart from not giving a blatant penalty for Van Dijk's shirt being held practically over his head for a couple of seconds in the box.

 

No completely nonsense calling back advantages an age later either a la Clattenburg.
