My prediction FWIW:

Koeman will be booed for 10 cringey embarrassing minutes, it'll fizzle out after Everton score (against the run of play) Saints will dominate possession in the midfield and Redmond will run around a lot in front of them without actually doing anything. Austin will grow more and more frustrated at the lack of service and Shane Long will run very fast with the ball before screwing it wide or tripping over it. Our very own set piece specialist JWP will have a free kick and an opportunity to equalise...he will chip it tamely into the wall or the goalkeepers hands.....we will lose 0-1, Koeman will say what a great club we are, Puel will say that our strikers need to score more goals....

So much pessimism. Every football game is combo of two different team's formation, playing styles, tactics, energy/motivation levels, and luck. There have been so many times a team performs amazingly one week, then next time inexplicably less so. We've had plenty of evidence this season that this squad, and this formation, and this manager can produce truly thrilling football. Personally, I'm holding out for something special tomorrow. Koeman's arrival will energise, and I think we'll see a few players encouraged to try something different. (We'll miss Tadic for sure. Yes, would love to see Boufal come through. But I remember how angry this board was with Mane 6 or 8 months after his arrival whenever he had a game when he screwed up a few times. Give him time...)

Great football is not like a a giant manufacturing plant. You can't just switch it on and see it work the same way every time. It's much more like improvisational art. You can prepare for it, but stars need to align on the day for true magic to happen. Why not go into the game with at least a little excitement?!

I must admit you come across as someone who is absolutely brimming with fun and excitement....

I think Everton could win this quite comfortably, letting us pass it around in midfield until everyone is bored and then hit us on the break with some direct, accurate and purposeful attacking. Another 0-3.

Puel has the charisma of an empty shed.

Everton are hardly world beaters themselves. They only managed a 1-1 draw against a very, very poor Swansea team.

1 win in 8, their last 2 being an absolute spanking from Chelsea and a stoppage time equaliser at home to said Swansea team.

If we were heading to Goodison on the back of such form, this forum would be apocalyptic.

and we managed a 1-1 draw against a crap Sunderland team.

individual results mean nothing, they are 5 points ahead of us, and whilst recent form for them, and to an extent us, is poor, they are still a side capable of beating us, and tbh I think they will get something. Previous managers have done okay on our ground, e.g. Pochettino won here last season and drew 2-2 season before, Redknapp beat us here with his QPR side

That QPR game was horrific.

This one starts at 2:30am Monday morning here. It's not been chosen as an 'On Demand' game by Optus so I can't watch it recorded in the morning. So the choice is get up in the middle of the night or give it a miss. Nearly always do the former, but on this occasion, and repaying the clubs attitude on Thursday (when I did get up at 4am), this one is going into the long grass. I suspect it won't be a sell out at SMS for the same reason. It's not much fun under Puel at the moment. Hope I wake up to a 3-0 win and a revitalised season. Even then, if Puel doesn't follow it up with having a go at Arsenal in the cup, and playing the first team at home to Hapeol he can do one.

Today is the day that we rediscover our goal scoring mojo....3-0 Saints !

Yes, I'm feeling more positive today :D

Massive game. If we fail to win today and get knocked out Wednesday then things won't be looking good. Everton are in poor form too though. If VVD keeps Lukaku quiet, we should win this. Going to go for 2-0 Saints. Austin and Henry to score.

Can see Puel sticking to his guns and us losing 4 nil as Lukaku has a field day .

yes of course that would make sense because we have really struggled defensively. At least despite our leaky back four the goals have been flowing.

trollling muppet.

4-0 Saints feck it, its nearly Christmas!! COYS :)

Nearly Christmas, the time of year when Saints traditionally go on a very poor run. Lets hope we can buck the trend this year. Not overly confident though. 1-0.

Unless my memory is playing tricks, I have this image from last season's defeat by the dugouts of Lukaku giving Suarez a torrid time out on the flank. A complete mismatch. I wonder if Koeman will avoid VVD and Fonte and get Lukaku cutting in from the flanks or dragging one of them out of position for Barkely to fill the space. Lukaku and Barkely scored last season. Nonetheless, I'm expecting a reaction from Saints to the tepid performance in Prague and the fans reaction to it. If not, then the team lacks character and I think that's not the case, certainly not with Fonte and Romeu back in. Their leadership was sorely missed in Prague.

Actually our limp midfield puts our defence under alot of pressure . Our defence certainly don't look as comfortable as they have in the past .

Thanks for the insult though ?

It's showing on my Optus, I have it set to record!

Just hope we play with more urgency and purpose. What worries me is we seem very easy to set up against. If a team sit back we struggle to get behind their defence. If i had to put money on a result I would go for a draw.

Umm that makes no sense. I'm all for leaving the EU

I'm not surprised you didn't get it, you don't come across as the sharpest 'tool' in the box.

This is a big match, and I think we'll be ready to play today. At home, after a somewhat disappointing match away, fading a little in the PL table, I bet the players feel the urgency. 3-1 Saints.

Worried where the goals are going to come from. Don't know a lot about Sims. Although two years ago we put a terrible 11 out against them and won 3-0, so who knows

Koeman will park the bus and try and hit us on the counter attack. If we can score an early goal and actually take our chances, we will win.

Problem with that plan is that it involves actually scoring a goal.
