Only a rumour, but it would be nice...........

I think it's good that all the ITK's have gone from the site. It got past a joke how certain mods etc were raising expectations.

Talking of rumours, and because I can't start a fred, could someone put this on The Lounge or TMS for the rest to see.

Basically it's The preacher of all that is true (The Daily Mirror) saying that Newcastle want Nigel Quashie to save them from relegation :smt044

If we were ahem in a relegation battle he'd be the last person I'd want given his track record ;). About as welcome as a pork pie in a synagogue :D

No. the membership elects the Football Committee at the AGM. Then, the football committee appoints the Manager etc.

Edit: and the Football Committee numbers the Club Captain as an ex-officio member. The Club Captain is appointed by suffrage of the membership of the club; candidates for the post must be player-members. That way the playing squad has a way to voice their concerns over the appointment of the Manager and there is a channel of communication between the player-members and the wider membership.

So a players have a say as to who is their boss? - Sorry, unworkable. The players need to have respect for the authority of the manager/coaches etc.... and would fans want other 'fans' steering the ship along their ingrained political ideology? Fair enough clubs were formed that way, but they did not stay that way for a reason - the times changed - football is now big buiness and if you want to be part of that you have to run a club with that in mind, or go and support Havent and Waterlooville.

That's what we need, two real minnow teams coming down that would make promotion so much easier for us next season!!

I dont rate Quashie -but the fact you can buy him for only £500,000 and Joey Barton for £2m shows how much values have fallen. Cant see us getting anything like £2.5m for Surman or Lallana.

Quashie is **** and West Ham are in massive financial trouble.

Newcastle rejected the 2m bid for Barton.

As for values falling just look at Defoe, Diarra, Beattie, Etherington etc

……….Southampton FC will be bought by a team of Middle Eastern Businessmen for 21 pence per share, next week.

Source is a bloke who knows the guy brokering the deal, an ex-Spurs player, now “moneyman” .

it would be funny if someone with a low post count came on here and posted a takeover rumour and it turned out to be true.

the thing I never really understood is why, even at 20p a share, the share price has remained so high.

given the debt, the poor results on the pitch, the global financial climate why have share values not dropped further?

I am just hoping that ManCity don't complete the Kaka deal before the weekend, leaving us free to trump whatever offer they make ACMilan....

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel a small tinge of resentment that ManCity could contemplate spending that much money, when £91m would clear our total debt and leave plenty left over to spend on improving the team??!

Given that the rest of the economy is in such a mess I can't understand why anyone would spend so much on one player. It is just plain stupid. The thing that I regret is that transfers like this will perpetuate the myth that football clubs can continue to spend money they haven't got on player transfers and wages. With the decline in the spending power of Chelsea, I had hoped that clubs would start to see sense. Oh well.

Nothing to do with resentment more to do with stupidity. It will knock back clubs like ourselves even further unless we can find someone with similar dosh. That clearly isn't going to happen, we can't find anyone with a few million let alone £91million.

It sort of is starting to rebound a bit, instead of everyone going "wow that Man City Brand is really impressive and making Abu Dhabi respected around the world" they are getting the reaction - "what a bunch of f**wits let's get down there and rip them off as well"..

Difficult game using football as a brand, we here in Dubai just find it wrong to spend money and not create something sustainable in the current climate

God what could saints do with 100 Million , It would restructure everything .

On another note I feel so sorry for Gareth Bale , Harry is using him in as a make weight in the Adriano deal with Bale going the other way.

Bale must have a fair amount of contract left. Surely the deal has to suit him too?

Poor Gareth Bale...the opportunity to go and play for Inter Milan under Jose Mourinho as they romp to the Seria A title must be overwhelmingly sh:t for him. The poor lamb would have to live in Milan whilst raking the cash in...

Mind you with Jose likely to be there no more than 2 full seasons (1 if Man C come running with 15mil a year, no doubt young GB would enjoy spending 3 years of his no doubt lucrative contract attending fashion shows and shopping as he wouldn't get many games when a new man came in after his performances for Spuds of late!

hang on how do you sign up!??!!

I know nothing about this rumour and doubt it's veracity to be honest.

I have to be totally truthful here but I do in fact know Steady Eddy and have known him since the age of around 14 or so - I'm 46 now - he is a full on over 30 year Saints fan and up until recently a season-ticket holder and not a Pimpey-Mole or a troll.

Ah...the classic "get another plant to back up the ruse of another plant by claiming they are both Life Long Saints fans" manoeuvre.

Nice try ;)

Everyone knows that anyone with a sub-100 post count with a join date of May 2007 is a bonefide plant....FACT

Somebody may need to check, but doesn't 1) Yeung own shares in Birmingham and 2) some sort of stories about him not paying or owing David Gold about 25mil?

Wouldn't hold my breath over the weekend guys..

BTW Steve M was commentating on the Man U game my lad saw him.

He does still have shares but if you read the above he could still offload them, which he states.

This would happen if he had interests in taking a stake in another club.

Apparently, according to the piece he has had contact from third parties representing other clubs.

Could the delay in any movement in this matter be to do with Yeung having to offload shares in Brum....?..no, didn't think so.

Memo to self, stop having a beer before dinner.

God I hope we see the end of Lowe and this criminal mismanagement of our club soon.

Roll on the takeover... but please make it soon to give the new manager a chance in Jan to buy some men and get us out of this relegation certainty.

Ok so where are we?

It's been so long I lost track.

Are Saturdays the new Fridays? Are Fridays now Thursday (except in Kuwait where it is probably Sunday) or are we back to Monday's now. Or is all being revealed today as a nostalgic trip back to the good old days when Friday was just well, Friday

Larry Ellison - that is funny - thats even better than Paul Allan....

Hah! I will call Larry, I work for him, well me and 80,000 other people around the world do. I will put in a good word for Saints. Sure he will take my call. We could become the Oracle Saints, playing at the Oracle Stadium.

That is very true about the America's Cup, it is all falling into place! It is true that he has expressed interest in an NFL team. Oracle has the naming rights to the Warriors arena in Oakland. But as for Saints...not holding my breath.
