The Croydon Advertiser report we are interested in Cabaye. Must be true as their 'sports' reporter also does the items For Sale adverts?

Hmmmm.... not someone I'd have expected us to have been linked with to be fair.

However, he is French, which is where Puel seems to be keeping his interests at present in terms of linked players.

Would welcome him if he came, however think we could be looking at better players than that!

We desperately need a striker - that is where I'd be instantly looking; then a centre back as cover for VVD and Fonte.

I'd be cashing in on J-Rod in January. He's looked a shadow of the player he used to be since returning from injury it saddens me to say.

How much exactly do people think we will get for a broken Jrod?

Unless a championship club is prepared to offer regular football and pay him silly money he will run his contract down with us and then retire, sad, but it happens.

Cash in on J-rod already is madness IMO, too early to write him off. He still hasn't had a consecutive run of matches. Maybe a loan out tho..

I rate Cabaye but think it's a train that already passed for us. Too old and high wages.

A former Puel player in France, I think (?)........no-one has suggested a 5 year contract - so why not ?

.......yes he is a surprise name, but at 30 he is younger than Steven Davis and would add extra strength to the squad.

Was Pardew's star player when at Newcastle...

Wasn't he signed on 100k/week or something?

No chance.

All of our signings from now on will be 20-24 with an international cap. Cheap & Driven.

You will he the occasional Austin style signing - someone slightly older for a good price, but they will be the exceptions rather than the rule.

As if he's going to retire when he knows he can get paid for at least two more contracts in football and probably another 7 years' worth just on what he's done so far. Despite a question mark about his fitness he'll attract interest from every Championship club and any bottom half Prem sides for his next deal, and unless he completely breaks down entirely and even if he's just "there" on and off he'd also get offers 4 years down the line from EFL clubs.

Nope, our mext transfers should look at upgrading Clasie/getting a better CM (not Cabaye though), competition for Romeu and for Fonte- and potentially loaning JayRod and getting another attacker.

If Clasie is wanted by some European side I'd sell for him for £15m.

Gardos- bar u23 games I have no idea if he will be Prem quality for us, must be over a year since he last played

When was the last time we signed a player over 30 for the first team? (Stuart Taylor doesn't count :D )

I think he'd be a good player for us but he just isn't a Les Reed type signing.

I was thinking a six month loan rather then a permanent signing. By then, Puel will know more of the U23 players and if they can move on up to the first team.

Meanwhile Crystal Palace are being linked with Schneiderlin. Imagine that.

It would make me gut-wretchingley sad to see such a talented player - and one of our own indeed - play for such an amateurish outfit as Palace. If he goes out on loan at all for heaven's sake (AND I AM LOOKING AT YOU LES REED) bring him back to St Mary's.

Would definitely take him as he's an upgrade to Clasie and arguably to Davis too. As others have said though, not really the kind of signing we make so I'd be surprised.

When he first signed for Palace I thought it was an excellent choice

However in recent times he seems to have regressed.

Would not be averse to him replacing Claisie dependent on cost to acquire and wages.

However would prefer a bit more height and physicality in midfield and the ability to score a goal or two
