Anyone else planning to go to this?

Should be a decent game and the squad features three of our lads with James Ward-Prowse as captain, Nathan Redmond and Jack Stephens. Shame Targett is still injured, I'm surprised McQueen was not called up instead based on recent form.

Ticket sales are currently low, Saints have opened the Itchen, Chapel and Northam stands, cheap tickets, think I might go to this instead of the Crawley game. Guess we've had a lot of matches recently and have been spoilt for "cheap" football this season but still a good chance to take in a game at affordable prices, family ticket 2 adults and 2 kids just £20.

Game is also live on BT Sport.

Yep, taking our under 12 team, FA & Saints given clubs the chance to claim 15 free tickets.

I often wondered if he'd make the cut at Chelsea (he's had about 6 loan moves). But he seems to have stepped up a gear this season.

He was the other one (with Redmond and JWP) who trained with the senior team. Looks like we've probably missed the boat on him. Depends if Conte puts more trust in youngsters than some of the previous managers. What's Loftus-Cheek upto these days? Seems to have a bit of an attitude, but always looked pretty good too. Doubt he's getting many games at Chelsea?

Really enjoyed the game and what a prospect our No 4 Nathaniel Chalobah is very impressed with him, would love to see him as a Saint.

He tackled and ran well but his passing was awful so I'm not sure he's enough of an all-round player for the very top level. The best player by far on the night and the only one who looked ready to step straight into a top Premier League team and the full England team, was Demarai Gray. Will Hughes of Derby was good too but he's another one of those attacking midfield players who can't shoot and we've got enough of them already. On a couple of occasions he was a few yards in front of goal and passed the ball out wide away from the danger area when it would have been easier for him to score. I was expecting Redmond to really stand out at this level. He didn't. He just lacks that bit of pace and sharp reaction to really make an impact even at this level. He still looks like he's not developing into much more than a fairly average midfield player and is nowhere near being a Premier League striker. Although Stephens scored the winning goal, he was very dodgy in defence. The Italian team reminded me a bit of Inter Milan: they showed a lot of individual skill but poor team work. However, they had players who were sharp up front and were always ready to take any chance they got.

It was a very entertaining game though and it's a pity there weren't more fans there to see it. I'm not sure the FA will award St Mary's another England game after that poor attendance.

Attendance is about as expected, 3rd highest so far in the group stages, I.e. Not the best, not the worst. More than 5x what they had in the last home game. They will come back again.

The whole style of play looked very Saints-esque to me and just think if Targett had been fit... are we the only club in England with a decent Academy or is it that we are the only club focused on English talent?

Just a question probably rhetorical but when ever will JWP actually be able to tackle a player staying on his feet and simply taking the ball off him without committing a clumsy foul? What is wrong with the lad, surely it cannot be that difficult when even Sam McQueen can do that after 3 games. How many games is it now James 170-odd?

Loftus-Cheek is another with huge potential. Chelsea run more of a farm than an academy. They have SO many players. Solanke, Baker, Abraham etc.

OK attendance on a cold night for an U21 'friendly' that was also live on TV. Surprised SFC agreed to host the fixture this season knowing the 2-game-a-week schedule the club and fans are currently coping with.
