I'd have liked Snodgrass. Could have been just that little bit of creative spark from midfield that we lack.

Theyll lose Payet though so will be worse off. Jose could struggle too as West Hams midfield wont give him the protection hes had the last few years

Do we need another CB, can't they all just step up, Yoshida replaces Fonte and Stephens replaces Yoshida. That's how it's meant to work. We might need cover if VVD is out for a long time, otherwise lets put faith in our system.

If VVD is out for three months, as is being reported, we certainly need another CB. Behind Yoshida and Stephens we have Gardos who has barely played for two seasons if another CB gets injured we are in the ****. I'd be happy enough with a loan if they are half decent (ie not Steven Caulker)but we are short of numbers at CB.

Rafael Benitez doesn't want Tim Krul back at Newcastle now that he's recovered from injury during a loan spell at Ajax. We could do a lot worse for a back-up goalkeeper.

Be a good option.

As McCarthy doesn't seem to be in contention and no suggestion of a return date from injury I'd be surprised if we're not considering a GK option, otherwise its Lewis or Taylor. One inexperienced, the other, none of his previous clubs dare play him.

(Now watch Lewis perform heroics today).

Definitely need a CB. Gardos looked like he had never played football before.

Totally agree with this

Have to understand he has been out for around 2 years but he looked very poor today.

It would be a disaster if something happened to Yoshida and Gardos had to play alongside an inexperienced Jack Stephens for the rest of the season

Leo Ulloa has pretty much announced he's leaving Leicester. Wonder if we've been one of the "host of Premier League clubs" interested?

Hmmm "host of premier league clubs". I'm not sure what number constitutes a host but I'd like to think we are not in that number.

A misguided hope on my part perhaps.

But reinforces the need for an experienced and competent GK.

Doubt Crul will settle for a place on the bench. Whoever I have seen him he has looked too draw. Is he? We have invested a huge amount in Forster, so he will go no where, but I'd be tempted to trade.

We have other priorities lewis did ok today and Taylor has been alright throughout his career so plenty of cover until McCarthy is back. We definitely need a new cb with vvd seemingly out for a few months and a goal scorer as we simply don't have one beyond the glass Austin.

Same thing every year! Get used to it it's not about to change! Who has been purchased this window that would have fixed our problems?

No one signs much in January. Good point, but it depends what you regard as being the problems. Lightweight midfield and underperforming keeper are two issues for, example in addition to the CB and striker issues

I'm not trying to get regionised I really don't care. I just got told by a youth player at Colchester that we are in for Southampton we its 2 players. Idk who before you ask but my guess Is gabbiadini and Sakhalin. I'm sure they'll both do well

We want a Russian island loaded with oil & gas? Ambitious!

Agree we have priorities, but take issue with your comments on the GK's.

Lewis - looked a bit like a lamb facing the slaughter, not altogether his fault with a hapless defence in front of him, but that won't have done his confidence any good.

Taylor - has spent most of his career making the numbers up as a back up,there's a reason for that.

McCarthy - shame he's been injured as he might have given FF some much needed competition and possibly replaced him after his recent run of form. But as he doesn't feature anywhere at the moment I wouldn't include him within the options.

FF often looks as if he's playing in wellies, but he's our only option at the moment. Injury to him, on top of our CB issues, and we're in Sh1t Street.

All very true, but if we were to have goalkeeper injuries isn't an emergency load an option, even outside the transfer window?

Fair point of course, but wouldn't it be better to bring in someone we actually want, rather than desperately scrabbling around for someone who is available (or that another club is prepared to release) in the event of an injury.

If we're relying on favours we could end up with a Kasey Keller, or a Tommy Forecast.

SUN reporting West Ham are in for Harry Maguire for 9 million. Surely we can top that for a potentially long term center back to shore up our defence..

Is he out of contract in the summer? According his player page on Hull homepage he signed a 3-year contract in July 2014. That could make it a lot easier (and cheaper) to sign him.
