for_heaven's_Saint Posted 22 October, 2016 Posted 22 October, 2016 Hopefully we can frustrate them then catch them on the counter. Would certainly take a draw now, but can't see us conceding a hatful.

InvictaSaint Posted 22 October, 2016 Posted 22 October, 2016 First one of the season I'm missing (not counting Checkatrade stuff) - I'm at Twickenham for NFL at the same time. Pretty poor if you ask me. Why can't you be in two places at once? B&Q must do a home cloning kit. Call yourself a real fan? Come on, up your game!! [emoji6][emoji6]
david in sweden Posted 22 October, 2016 Posted 22 October, 2016 considering the bad luck / poor shooting? in Milan....and the 34 shots v. Burnley which yielded ....just 3 goals, it makes you think that one day soon .....we may really hammer someone .....if our guys change their footwear a bit more often....

Strangely the Man city fans are saying something similar about their team on their forum maybe its going to a goal fest tomorrow....
Bad Wolf Posted 22 October, 2016 Posted 22 October, 2016 Anyone know what the situation is on Bertrand and Redmond? I'd like to see: Forster, Martina, Fonte, VVD, Bertrand, Classie, Oriol, Davis, Austin, Redmond, Tadic. J Rod and McQueen in for the two afore mentioned players if they're not fit.
sammysaint Posted 22 October, 2016 Posted 22 October, 2016 Can not see anything other than maybe a draw at best, City will want to thump someone after they had their pants pulled down at camp nou, our chances increase with having Bertrand fit and Austin starting and having Long Boufal and Jay Rod coming from the bench.

Agreed, I think a 0-0 is our best hope. Not a massive game, most teams will get beat here this season. More concerned about the Sunderland and Inter games. We are doing better than I expected this season, but there's little chance of us finishing top 7. Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk

Saint_clark Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 If we move the ball quickly with one touch passing through the middle like we have at times, rather than just side to side and try to get down the wings, we can play round their press and maybe cause problems. Big if though. Boufal starting *could* be a masterstroke if it happens.
WALK DMC Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 A 3-0 (or 4-2) victory will take us above Koeman ....... We just need a strong performance, improved finishing and a heck of a lot of luck .......

Their defence can be all over show at times but can also tear us apart going forward. Their defence might be all over the place, but on the basis we are converting about 1 in every 10 chances, I can't see us scoring. And as you say they can rip us apart going forward. Think it will be 2-0 City (Sterling , Aguero ) Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk

Plastic Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 I know Lawro is always comedy, but I thought this was quite funny... Man City vs Southampton Southampton look very solid at the back and do not seem to make too many mistakes. At the other end, Charlie Austin is going through the sort of spell where he cannot miss. His prediction? 2-0 to City. Not saying I expect a win, but an odd prediction following those comments
meatball Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 Agree with this. I'd have preferred it if we'd started the Milan game with our strongest team (Fonte and Austin starting)and been prepared to 'sacrifice' City away. Had that been done, most would have criticised Puel for lack of ambition. The team put out at Inter was clearly more than good enough to win the game. The team that will face City is good enough to at least have a chance to win it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Saint Matty 76 Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 Weird team from City, remarkably attacking. Could be effective with Redmond on the counter and then eventually Boufal.
The Saint Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 Great line up for Saints. What a week for Sam McQueen....!!
Heisenberg Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 Great line up for Saints. What a week for Sam McQueen....!! Early days but McQueen looks v.good Big test today but I have no worries about him CoYs
St.Jeweller Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 Kompany starts...............Limps off after 20 mins ???
saint lard Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 However much I'm warming to Puel.....he's really surprised me I might add.....his interview on Sky then was bloody hard to understand. I know it's not a major factor....but it was painful to watch. As long as he gets it right in the pitch that's the main thing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
USA SaintsFan Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 ****ing NBCSN won't stop talking about United and Mourinho. There is another match first for ****s sake!
doddisalegend Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 Kompany starts...............Limps off after 20 mins ??? Hopefully after colliding with KDB and Aguero so that all three have to be taken off
angelman Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 Weird team from City, remarkably attacking. Could be effective with Redmond on the counter and then eventually Boufal. Seem to be going all out for it.
Mallagroth Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 Up to now had a funny feeling we'd win this one... Now i'm sat here praying we don't get battered as I look at lineups.

Nordic Saint Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 Man City's defence has looked poor since Stones joined them. He is still a work in progress prone to lapses. Austin should get the better of him. So, they are playing an attacking side in order to outscore us. Pity Aguero was rested midweek. He'll be really fired up for this one.
Dr. Kucho Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 http://www.totalsportek.com/manchester-united-live-stream/ Great quality stream, COYR
igsey Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 Dreading the customary dodgy back pass from us today, this side will punish us for it. Looking comfortable so far, their defence is vulnerable.
5string Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 (edited) Early exchanges, we're slightly 2nd best, but City seem nervous of our attacking ability. Aguero looking strong. Redmond quite tricky for us. Edited 23 October, 2016 by 5string too many looks!
Saint_clark Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 F*ck sake Clasie...I'm a fan but you need to do better than that.
Saint_clark Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 Nothing makes me angrier than a goal kick going straight out of play. If you can't kick it accurately enough to do that, just kick it down the middle.
5string Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 Sane is the City player I'm most worried about. I think he'll set up chances for them.
SonicBoom Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 Atmosphere is pathetic. These big stadiums are nearly always morgues.
verlaine1979 Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 Pep not exactly showing our attack a lot of respect by only picking three defenders.
angelman Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 Nothing makes me angrier than a goal kick going straight out of play. If you can't kick it accurately enough to do that, just kick it down the middle. Nah, corners not beating the 1st man is even worse.
Plastic Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 Atmosphere is pathetic. These big stadiums are nearly always morgues. I think you're right. Whisper quiet. Where are the saints songs?
Saint_clark Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 Nah, corners not beating the 1st man is even worse. Near post corners statistically result in the most goals so I can always understand going for that. Pep not exactly showing our attack a lot of respect by only picking three defenders. I think it's tactically smart actually. Extra forward player means our weakened fullback positions won't be able to get forward as much, leaving our 3 attackers to get past 2 DM and 3 CBs.
SonicBoom Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 We do seem to be sitting off which must be the tactic. Does seem very risky though to allow City to dominate the ball under no pressure. They are more than good enough to make chances.
angelman Posted 23 October, 2016 Posted 23 October, 2016 Unlucky Jordie, have a shot next time. You reckon that was a cross
