ART Posted 29 September, 2016 Posted 29 September, 2016 He has been retained by England so why should he be disappointed?
Noodles34 Posted 29 September, 2016 Posted 29 September, 2016 Yeah, either way he is going to be paid for the next two years, big disappointment
david in sweden Posted 29 September, 2016 Posted 29 September, 2016 Yeah, either way he is going to be paid for the next two years, big disappointment Sammy has been involved in the England set-up (periodically) on and off for the last 10-15 years (?)..not sure exactly. He must know the England set-up pretty well. If he's under contract ......there's no reason to kick him out just because Big Sam has gone, and surely neither Gareth Southgate or Dave Watson is a stranger to him.

david in sweden Posted 30 September, 2016 Posted 30 September, 2016 Dave Watson left his England role in the summer. Martyn Margetson is now the England goalkeeper coach, I stand corrected.
Wimborne_saint Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/sammy-lee-relieved-england-duties-9377965 - Sammy Lee relieved of England duties as Gareth Southgate reshuffles backroom staff Feel bad for sammy!
Micky Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 I'm pretty sure that Sammy would've been half expecting it. He's been in the game long enough to know how it works. Besides, can't see him being out of work for long - infectious character with a lot of experience - somebody will snap him up. Would be happy to see him back here - but highly unlikely.
Dusic Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 Not sure why everyone thinks the sun shines out of Sammy's backside?
Fan The Flames Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 Maybe he could give Brighton a bell to see if there is a slot there. He seems a decent bloke, I used to like him celebrating a goal.
a1ex2001 Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 Not sure why everyone thinks the sun shines out of Sammy's backside? I'm not sure anyone does I think most just think he's a nice bloke and a decent coach which is hard to disagree with. He won't be unemployed for long and I'm sure he will have received a payout from England for terminating his contract.
Dark Munster Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 Not sure why everyone thinks the sun shines out of Sammy's backside? His placement of cones is second to none.
SuperSAINT Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 Perfect fit to rejoin Rafa @ Newcastle if Ian Cathro goes to Hearts.
CB Fry Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 He won't be out of work for long. If nothing else, big Sam will be somewhere soon anyway.
Kingsland Red Posted 2 December, 2016 Posted 2 December, 2016 His placement of cones is second to none. Nonsense, it is second to the King of the Cones- Dennis Rofe
Dark Munster Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Nonsense, it is second to the King of the Cones- Dennis Rofe I stand corrected.
rooney Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Maybe he could give Brighton a bell to see if there is a slot there. . Thus would be difficult as he accepted Asst.Managers job there and then came to us after 5 mins.
CB Fry Posted 3 December, 2016 Posted 3 December, 2016 Thus would be difficult as he accepted Asst.Managers job there and then came to us after 5 mins. I think that was the joke.
Greenridge Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 I see he has left Crystal Palace with the appointment of Hodgson and Lewington.
Pamplemousse Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 How long before someone claims we should bring him back?
Toomer Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 How long before someone claims we should bring him back? We should bring him back or let him hang around till fat Sam decides to take another job.
Badger Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 We should bring him back or let him hang around till fat Sam decides to take another job. Just hope it's not with us....
Saint Billy Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 How long before someone claims we should bring him back? Now, just do it!. At the moment our bench looks as motivated as a sloth on anti depressants.
Dusic Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 The obsession with Sammy Lee has to be the most bizarre thing on here, just ahead of the reverse opinion of Eric Black.
Heisenberg Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 The obsession with Sammy Lee has to be the most bizarre thing on here, just ahead of the reverse opinion of Eric Black. Not sure there is evidence of any obsessions anywhere? Possibly more to do with Sammy being reminiscent of fast, exciting and attacking football. While Blacks arrival seemed to coincide with the drab guff weve witnessed and been subjected to since last summer? If we had got the appointments right last summer and the "southampton way" hadn't become so lifeless nobody would be reminiscing about Sammy?
CB Fry Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Sammy was a superb appointment by Les Reed.
Bad Wolf Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Black out, Lee in IMO. Him and MP are friends aren't they?
Matthew Le God Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Black out, Lee in IMO. I'd rather have Sammy than Eric. Can either of you provide some good evidence as to why Sammy Lee is a better coach than Eric Black?
Saint Fan CaM Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Can either of you provide some good evidence as to why Sammy Lee is a better coach than Eric Black? Because Sammy was around at a time when Saints were playing more attractive football?

Matthew Le God Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Because Sammy was around at a time when Saints were playing more attractive football? That isn't good evidence, neither are/were the manager. They aren't as coaches ultimately responsible for the style of play.
