suewhistle Posted 2 August, 2021 Posted 2 August, 2021 (edited) I suppose it gets him playing, he can regroup and presumably he's established in the area and will be happy outside of 'work'. Edit: I hadn't seen that.. Edited 2 August, 2021 by suewhistle

I like what he's done. Really good player if he can stay fit. Hopefully he'll progress up through the levels soon.
egg Posted 2 August, 2021 Posted 2 August, 2021 He's playing well below himself there, but he'll make a living and get regular football at last. Hopefully he can stay fit, get games, and move up to a better level.

petermcpete Posted 21 December, 2021 Posted 21 December, 2021 I was at the Eastleigh - Enfield game at the weekend, and he was excellent. Was on the periphery to begin with but grew into the game and looked very confident. Scored a hattrick (albeit third was tenuous) and could have had more. Also created numerous chances. Got to do it now in the league I guess. Looked a class above everyone else on the field.

I thought Harper and Whelan were far better than Hesketh. Can only be good for him and Eastleigh if he comes good, he did look far better than when I saw Oscar Gobern play for Eastleigh couldn’t believe how bad he had become. Enfield were terrible though 🙂
ApprenticeBillionaire Posted March 31 Posted March 31 Sorry to drag this old one. But just reading the SportsRepublic thread that's gone right off topic I didn't want to derail it further. But there was lots of discussion about former young talent and I thought of Jake Hesketh. Fuck me that lads had some fall from grace. Released by us, signed by Eastleigh. They released him. Signed by Sholing in 2023 and according to Wikipedia hasn't played a single fucking game. 29 years old now. He was always too lightweight for my liking but bloody Sholing??

Expand I think the problem he had was he stayed at saints till his was 25! I think signing a 4 and half year deal with us was a mistake. I get it, good money and would help him set up a good base for financial security in the future, but the chances of making it with us was so slim. Should have signed for an EFL club and carve out a career at that level getting plenty of games under his belt. He had 4 seasons of consecutive season long loans. I get the first couple but by the time of the 3rd he should have moved on but the money/contract probably kept him at the club rather than asking for a move.

LGTL Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Fairly sure he took a ‘sports scholarship’ with JP Morgan, so he’s carving out a career in banking. Good luck to him.

CSA96 Posted April 1 Posted April 1 I'm pretty sure nobody is likely to be updating the Sholing FC wikipedia with blow-by-blow updates of each week's player stats Yeah, he plays all the time and is the captain. Jake Flannigan is also at Sholing, as is Matt Targett's brother Brad 1
