For not paying minium wage. Though according to the article they don't have to because its a casual position.

Looks like a politician saw a chance for a bit of publicity. Though having said that PL clubs have no excuse not to pay a decent wage to employees Imo.

We are a family and community club and sure this was just an administrator error. Saying that perhaps those cost savings we insist on are from top to bottom.

Not sure why we don't outsource this stuff anyway - ticket master for example

1/10.

What a busy old git. So we were complying with wage regs anyway.

He's absolutely right to ask the question, but perhaps not with such inflammatory language in public. If the advert was simply '£6.50 an hour' without the age stipulations mentioned in the club statement, that appears questionable. If not, perhaps Pope's gone a little overboard, but it's good to see the civic duty being fulfilled.

The turnover of staff at the club nowadays seems to be phenomenal as they are constantly advertising for new staff in all departments.

For goodness sake. And punters pay their exorbitant fees?

staff turnover is mainly down to the poor management at lower levels ,

HR within the club is poor,

jumped up low level managers with no people skills just lose staff who can get paid more in other similar level jobs and are mainly there because they want to be part of the club, that soon loses its attraction,

and yes I do have personal experience

I'm a bit lost in all the beaurocracy. So, what is the current minimum wage for a snot-faced kid at the moment?

If I had my way, a hearty slap and a total ban on jeans that don't fit properly. (And because I'm a complete git I'd also insist on the jeans being properly ironed with creases down the front)

That councillor's an clueless moron. He posts regularly on the Southampton Heritage Photos Group on facebook. Where he seems to advocate closing Sea City Museum, Scraping the Guildhall Square Arts Quarter, delisting and demolishing grade II listed Wyndham Court....

Ironed creases in the front? Jesus fella, do you wear loafers with them too? I'm assuming you're a fairly badly dressed man from that.

In fairness we had Clyne on the books for 10k a week - that is basically criminal and a long way below the minimum wage of most england internationals....

How does Pope promote the best interests of his City by going public with an issue that he could have asked the club about? From what's been said, would have got a perfectly good reply because minimum wage changes over time and is different for young people. The advert is immaterial as long as the person appointed was paid a legal wage. There is no evidence in that press article that they were not but this looks like a politician more interested in publicity than in the truth.
