Dalek2003 Posted 17 September, 2016 Share Posted 17 September, 2016 Great start to the season for Everton. 11 points ahead of us already Koeman is a great manager, no doubt about it. He was worth paying £5 million a year even if for just one more season. Saints board have made a very bad judgement in letting him go. Dare I say it, on a par with appointing Sturrock instead of Hoddle in 2004.

5string Posted 18 September, 2016 Share Posted 18 September, 2016 Just watched MotD. Lots of bad refereeing which affected the scorelines (though debatable whether the overall results were affected). Common theme this season, and not just for us it seems. Hope the refereeing is good for our match v Swansea today...

Ok the penalty was a little harsh but he was generally good.

Mallagroth Posted 18 September, 2016 Share Posted 18 September, 2016 As i've said on another thread, I don't get the 3 week memory mentality most current prem fans have. I also don't understand why so many expert and pundits appear to be completely incapable of realistic analysis. Everton are going to be champions league and top 4 contenders because they have 11 points? This is whats currently being peddled as near enough a fact in the media and many are lapping it up. In context: Everton have beaten middlesborough, stoke, sunderland(A) and West Brom (A), Everton should be winning those games so it's hardly a revelation of Koeman being the next messiah. He could still come good and they may be excellent over the season, but to talk of them like they are world beaters is stupid when they haven't really been tested. And yes i think we would all agree we should be taking more from watford and especially Sunderland but sometimes you can lose games like this. This is my whole point. If we similarly don't apply context to the situation Saints are in and we blanket make judgements on 4 or 5 games, then yes we are going to be relegated and we cant score goals. But this is a stupid assumption to make when the evidence says we have many international quality players who have been capable of getting into Europe 2 seasons on the bounce, there is a whole season still ahead of us and we are currently learning a new system which has already looked good. Likewise writing off Puel, the diamond or Redmond as a striker etc. because there haven't been a snapping of fingers and immediacy of result is another indicator of someone too easily suckered in by headlines, bad punditry and the sycophantic drama peddled by the Prem circus team. The minute people use their heads remember last season and the season before and stop listening to the headlines you can stop being so bloody worried, there is a long way to go and we are slow off the blocks but it's a marathon not a sprint etc. The other one that still shocks me is that keep hearing how magnificent Jose Mourinho is... well I could be missing something but I thought last season he spectacularly imploded at Chelsea after their worst start for years with a lot of rumours suggesting that he has problems with ego clashes with players. Some very well paid people are constantly spouting on that Man Utd are going to win title... recent evidence suggests that they may have bought some world class players but their manager is likely to fall out with them sooner rather than later and the core of the team has a habit of choking it in big games. Batman Posted 18 September, 2016 Share Posted 18 September, 2016 game over 3-1 to watford. Deeney (pen) Rooney, Felaini and Pogba were terrible Rooney needs to be dropped and push Pogba further forward would make a huge difference Morgan and Herrera in the middle would be a better fit I reckon
