6 years ago today we were 22nd in League One with 4 points from 6 games. Tonight we play Sparta Prague at home in the UEFA Europa League Group Phase.

Thank you Alan, Nigel, Mauricio and Ronald, and thank you Markus.

PS - before MLG posts, I know Dean Wilkins was in charge for a very short time between Pardew and Adkins.

I love reminders like this. It's amazing to think how far we've come.

I tried to erase Dean Wilkins small but terrible tenure from my mind. People banging on about our games against Sunderland and Watford being awful ( worst they've ever seen according to some on here) clearly weren't there to see us smashed at home by Rochdale and Swindon.

Its amazing how far we've come since the take over. T in some ways its worked against the club who now seem to have loads of fans with massive expectations and zero patience.

Just think where we would be if we didn't have an incompetent board.... ;-)

It's such a massive achievement, yet people still moan, Leeds, both Sheffield Clubs, Forest etc have been trying to do half of what we we've done for nearly a decade and haven't been successful!

I see our management board as being shrewd, this is hard evidence of that, yet unfortunately for some it's still not enough

One thing that doesn't seem to have changed is our slow start to a season...

That 4 points from 6 in league one, through to 2 points from 4 this season (and similar last season)?

If we could bag a sharp start to a season it would be a such a pleasant surprise!

you can go back over the last 40 years, probably longer, and the number of good starts Southampton have made to a season are minimal.

This season is no different to the norm really.

Should merge this thread with the 'Losing Interest' one so certain people can get a f**king grip!

Indeed.

a Firmly established Premier League team. No relegation battles getting on for a decade. We welcome Sparta Prague at St Mary's in the group phase of European competition tonight. I am GAINING interest.

Now, where can I get a commemorative half-and-half scarf later ;)

Ive got to the stage in life , pearly fifties, I look back and think what have Saints given me. Several trips to Wembley, four European adventures, 2 FA Cup Finals, promotions, 2nd in the Old 1st Divsion. Some of the greatest players England has produced, constant bar a little blip dominance over people who claim to be our rivals.

Many fantastic nights at The Dell under lights, beating top teams at St Mary's. I've been lucky in having so many good friends so who support Saints and through supporting Saints met many more. 6 years ago or 46 years ago supporting Saints will never make me lose INTEREST, get annoyed yes but never lose INTEREST. Coming soon, San Siro and winter wonderland in Prague. We march on.
