kitch Posted 14 September, 2016 Posted 14 September, 2016 Deserved? I think so. We're noticeably better if he's on the pitch. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/20160914-pierre-emile-hojbjerg-player-of-the-month-august-3307422.aspx
Saint Garrett Posted 14 September, 2016 Posted 14 September, 2016 Very bright player, looks a real prospect with a really intelligent head on him too. Can't have been many others with a chance of winning it bearing in mind our start, maybe VVD.
Heisenberg Posted 14 September, 2016 Posted 14 September, 2016 Probably the best of a bad bunch so far. He's averaged 60 mind per game so far, not the bright start he was looking for I'm sure He will probably feel slightly embarrassed to win it given how poor we've been as a team thus far.

TBH You should be totally embarrassed about 95% of the posts you make, but i guess you will do anything for attention

buctootim Posted 14 September, 2016 Posted 14 September, 2016 Nice trophy too. Barclays could learn a thing from them about their hideous manager and player of the month trophies, apparently made from recycled coffee stirrers.
Saint in NZ Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 What about VVD? He's consistently a colossus and would be welcomed into any PL defence.

You've won the award for this month. 2/10.
Andy Durman Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 Somewhat surprising as VVD has been the stand out player. Ow well can't give it to VVD every month.
PeteCampbell Posted 16 September, 2016 Posted 16 September, 2016 Romeu has been more impressive than Hojbjerg but both have been a positive for us
VivaElTri Posted 16 September, 2016 Posted 16 September, 2016 Romeu has been more impressive than Hojbjerg but both have been a positive for us Romeu was pretty bad vs Watford and was out vs United. Hojbjerg was great in just about every game he played
Ohio Saint Posted 16 September, 2016 Posted 16 September, 2016 And he has only just come into the team.......his future is bright, I just hope it stays red and white for more than two seasons.
jamesfp1 Posted 16 September, 2016 Posted 16 September, 2016 And he has only just come into the team.......his future is bright, I just hope it stays red and white for more than two seasons. Hope all you want but he's too good for us to keep, unfortunately.
austsaint Posted 16 September, 2016 Posted 16 September, 2016 It's clear to me that Hojbjerg, along with VVD and presumably Boufal, if he lives up to reputation, are the next three players at risk of being prised away by the you-know-who Clubs as early as next season.

austsaint Posted 17 September, 2016 Posted 17 September, 2016 Total funcrsher. Do you disagree? Or do you think we should just ignore the likelihood of those three leaving in a season or two and enjoy them while they are here. Probably not a bad way to think about it.

VVD might go next season but the other two will do two. We wouldn't sell Boufal for less than Mane and it's highly unlikely he's going to prove to be worth that in the 28 odd games he going to play for us this season. He'll need another one. Hojberg similar, he's not going to get to a level in season one where he's worth so much that a bigger club would be offering silly money next summer. We've easily got two seasons out of those two.

You're probably right; two seasons for Hojbjerg and Boufal - another one for Virgil. It's vaguely depressing to think about the exits of these guys but at least there's the enjoyment of watching top class players develop.
