Can any of the ITK' s who revealed that the club were taking a new direction this season elaborate on what this direction is please?

Do they have faith that it will pay off in the end or are they worried about where it is taking our club, can they also say who is responsible for issuing the instruction for the new direction?

Surely going down the league table is a new direction for us in this incarnation.

To re-establish the academy to first team pathway.

To keep finances within our means.

To build partnerships across the world.

Increase commercial revenue.

Of course many fans know what's best and how much money is available and have come out with a strategy of wanting more players for the first team which are affordable and willing to join the club. So understandably it is frustrating.

Because they're football fans and don't really give a toss about how much a supposed billionaire has left in her purse.

Anyway the writing has been on the wall for a few seasons now, an "if it's saleable sell it policy" and bugger the consequences.

It's early days yet so we'll have to see what comes to pass for the rest of the season.

I thought it may have been just to change manager & formation?

(& possibly to try and play more young players)

Hasn't that been our direction for a while now anyway? I think someone mentioned a new direction rather than a revamp of the existing?

I assumed it was to issue longer contracts than was previous policy, including offering new contracts to those who were only a year or two into existing ones. (as long as we had seen them already adding value) as opposed to the previous policy of wait until the last couple of years of the current contract to renegotiate where, inevitably, we ended up in a weak position and then had to sell.

Quiet, isn't it? Not much positive spin around at the moment.

To build partnerships around the world and increase commercial revenue means you have to attract fans. Floating fans will not be attracted to clubs who sell their prized assets year on year. It is disheartening for life time fans let alone fans who have a choice not based on where you were born.

I know that we will get 'you cant stop players leaving' etc etc but you can if they are on 2 year contracts or more.

That's as a result of the upward pressure on wages due to the new tv money, it hardly counts as a "new policy", the alternative to that would be having to sell the entire team to bottom half sides, rather than just the ones bigger clubs offer silly money for.

Bit busy preparing for matches I should think. Just booking match tickets and planning away trips is taking up a significant proportion of my life at the moment, can't imagine how hectic the club must be.

You'd do it a lot quicker if you didn't stop every five minutes to update Facebook about it.

I disagree. We had them under contract already and could have easily have waited until the last two years of their contract before negotiating again and saved a few quid. We did that with regularity before this season. We wouldn't need to sell to lower sides at all..especially as we already paid better wages than a lot of them.
