Weird ex-Saint tangent

I see Saints legend (put him on the banner) Iago Falque scored for Torino today in their 2-1 defeat to Atalanta, in which Joe Hart made his Torino debut and contrived to make a mistake to gift Atalanta the equaliser.

Anyway, after his one game for Saints in 2012 in which we lost 2-0 at home to Leicester in the Championship promotion season, he went on loan to Almeria and Rayo Vallecano, before Spurs sold him to Genoa, who sold him to Roma, who have loaned him to Torino.

Are there any other Saints rejects who've ended up being alright after all?

Whatever happened to Nicholas Bignall, Thomas Pekhart and Romain Gasmi? I can't be bothered to Google, so...

Pekhart is at AEK Athens after spells at FC Nürnburg and Ingolstadt. Gasmi dropped pretty far down the French pyramid, and has been over in Thailand for the last few years.

Jelle Van Damme is doing OK with LA Galaxy.

Having seen him for us I was amazed at how long Anderlecht picked him for, especially with them in the Champions League so much.

When we bought him I spoke to some Dutch (Ajax) fans at Euro 2004 and the nicest thing they said was that he was "clumsy" and that Ajax sold him because Maxwell was better than him. Which he was.

Dennis Wise, who went on to play 322 games for Chelsea and 21 for England. I don't know if we could call Mikhail Antonio a reject as he was only here on loan but how we could do with him now. Boruc hasn't done badly at Bournemouth either.

Had a chat with my Strasbourg aquaintance today. Apparently Gasmi is playing in Thailand. Has been so for about 4 years now. I suppose a pro footballer who really wants to play can find a game anywhere nowadays.

Unless your name is Anthony Pulis?

I cannot help but feel sorry for Jamie White now at Blackfield and Langley, when he must think about Lallana and Bale and what they have done? Not saying he would have reached their heights but could have made a decent living from the Pro game if it was not for injury!

The match the OP is on about was ruined by that ex skate Nugent scoring and playing up!

My god.... didn't realise it was that bad. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Pulis

When you see some of the nippers who have looked capable yet never making it at Saints, you wonder if his career would have actually made it to 32 had it not been for a sprinkling of Nepotism to nudge him along.

I know he was a free transfer, and we only had buttons in our pockets, but how ,or why,did we manage to sign such an inert player.

............... then I suppose if we got sold the Emporers new clothes with Tommy Forecast, I might have answered my own question!!!

Always found it bizarre with Tommy Forecast, that he was offered a contract with Gillingham after his loan spell there and he rejected it!

Employed by two clubs where his dad was the manager, offloaded to Saints in the heated corpse recruitment drive of 2008, loaned by us to three clubs which lost their football league status and then signed by another one, signed for Orlando City before they became an MLS franchise and rapidly shunted out to manage the B team when still in his early 30s when they did.

I am SO glad I went to the trouble of watching the reserves in 2008. I actually saw him play, once. :o

In an unrelated note which absolutely has nothing to do with any of the messages above, testing positive for banned substances is probably something you don't want to be worrying about when you're already loaded from stealing a living for 6 years.

On 11 August 2013, Forecast signed for Chelmsford City who play in Conference South.

He joined Dartford on loan for one month from 24 October.

Too sh01te for Conference South.

He's not setting the world on fire, but ex-Saint academy player Gboly Ariyibi is doing a nice job getting some attention, which is good to see.
