USA SaintsFan Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 Pound for pound we are a much stronger side than Sparta. Doubt a single Sparta player would even get on our bench. The Czech league is compatible our league 2 and that might be insulting Portsmouth. Never underestimate your opponent but we should be brushing aside teams like this - European experience or not. Really? Well take a look at their results from last Europa campaign... http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/season=2016/clubs/club=50033/matches/index.html.' Two draws against Shalke, beat Lazio, and made it to the quarters. I agree we should beat them, but it is entirely likely that it won't be easy.
Dalek2003 Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 Are we likely to play our strongest team or give some of the players on the edge of the squad a chance ? I'm thinking about the vital match against Swansea coming up.
trousers Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 You are talking absolute rubbish. He knows. Textbook page #64
Chris27687 Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 Play the strongest team - Would like to see Austin come in for Long as he won't need to do much running and Tadic can set up a hattrick for him.
sfc4prem Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 Tough game tonight. Would be chuffed to bits with a win given our form in front of goal recently.
SO16_Saint Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 How early is too early to put the kids to bed so they don't bother me during the game [emoji23]
suewhistle Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 In that case I can see a PB tonight.:-) Currently in a 'spoons listening to rather flat Sparta singing.. The atmosphere is building...

New Forest Steve Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 Clasie trolling! ha ha! Shouldn't he be with the team, getting warmed up or something ?
Saint Billy Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 Hope Austin is given a full game tonight.
Wimborne_saint Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 Forster, Martina, Yoshida, VVD, Targett, Romeu, Hojbjerg, JWP, Tadic, Long, Austin
Saints foreva Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 We're not even playing our strongest team.
Batman Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 Team. Forster Martina Yoshida VvD Targett Rom Hoj JwP Tadic Austin Long 3rd round league cup team
DuncanRG Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 Disappointing that we aren't giving it more.
Pancake Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 Jesus wept. Thought we might at least try. Glad I didn't take the day off work to get down there for it.
Pamplemousse Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 To be fair, given that we play again on Sunday, there was no way we could possibly play our strongest XI
Berkshire Saint Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 No problem with that team really. Fonte's not been at his best so far and Cedric still looks poor. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
Batman Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 To be fair, given that we play again on Sunday, there was no way we could possibly play our strongest XI thought that was why we went away from a highly successful set up to this one. to cope with more games and not to put out a half arsed side
Batman Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 got win sooner or later. Still dont think Puel will be our manager in 12 months time.
niceandfriendly Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 We played our reserve team against Midgetland away and look how that turned out. Car crash of a defence, PLUS Prowse starting. At least we've all got our individual health and a roof over our heads.
LGTL Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 Well at least our two European Championship winners arent playing over Martina and Yoshida.
Pamplemousse Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 You have to assume (hope) that we will play a stronger team against Inter Milan
Holbury Saint Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 To be fair, given that we play again on Sunday, there was no way we could possibly play our strongest XI Why not??!! It drives me nuts that players are paid millions of pounds and fans think poor them they can't possibly play more than one game a week!!!!! Maybe I should only go to work one day a week!!!!!!

It drives me nuts that players are paid millions of pounds and fans think poor them they can't possibly play more than one game a week!!!!! Maybe I should only go to work one day a week!!!!!! They probably can, but our opponents Swansea aren't playing and therefore have a full week of recovery. We will only have three days before the next match so inevitably that will have an impact.
northam soul Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 To be fair, given that we play again on Sunday, there was no way we could possibly play our strongest XI Why not, this is no different to playing weds to sat which always used to happen. If this was a semi final and then another important game at the weekend we would field a strong team. Arsenal do this and then struggle to qualify for the latter stages of the CL Play your best eleven then worry about the next game then we might actually win one.

Greenridge Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 You have to assume (hope) that we will play a stronger team against Inter Milan What about your logic of saving the team for the next Prem game? Make your mind up.
saint lard Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 Why bother trying to qualify for Europe when we field a weakened side. Should've gone out and made the squad stronger to cope with it. Not weakened it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

trousers Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 At the game with my 16 year old son. He's happy with the starting 11. Maybe he should sign up to Saintsweb as he's obviously too optimistic and needs more exposure to manic depressives...

dronskisaint Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 That's not a bad team...jeez there's some wet farkers on here!!
Edmonton Saint Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 Canadian TV seem to be showing every Europa game apart from ours, so if anyone has a decent stream for the match they can recommend I'll be very appreciative.
OttawaSaint Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 What about your logic of saving the team for the next Prem game? Make your mind up. We need a strong team in the league so we can qualify for the Europ...hang on a sec...
Pamplemousse Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 What about your logic of saving the team for the next Prem game? Make your mind up. I personally think we should've named a stronger team but I can understand why Puel has done it. Every little thing is a crisis with our bed wetting fan base at the moment
Dalek2003 Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 We're not even playing our strongest team. Didn't think we would. This is a side show to the Premier League. We showed no intent in the summer at strengthening the squad. It was obvious we had no ambition for Europe.
CB Fry Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 OM Fecking G:mcinnes: Apart from Yoshida that is basically a pretty standard first 11 isn't it. Some distance away from a OMG team. Quite happy with Cuco over Cedric anyway.

Turkish Posted 15 September, 2016 Posted 15 September, 2016 Lots of players with intelligence but very light on pace and power by the looks of it.
