Polaroid Saint Posted 5 September, 2016 Share Posted 5 September, 2016 [h=2]Les than zero - How the FA has regressed since sacking Les Reed[/h] Informative and interesting article. mrfahaji Posted 5 September, 2016 Share Posted 5 September, 2016 Very interesting piece. It mentioned Jonathan Wilson's "Inverting the Pyramid", I would also recommend his "Anatomy of England" - I'm not a big fan of the national team by any stretch but I found it really interesting, and also shows how England's knack of being behind everyone else while thinking they are or deserve to be ahead has been happening pretty much from the day we invented the game! sadoldgit Posted 5 September, 2016 Share Posted 5 September, 2016 The FA's loss is our gain.
Colinjb Posted 5 September, 2016 Share Posted 5 September, 2016 It is perhaps telling that Reed, while explaining that Southampton’s academy teams play 4-3-3- has specifically said that they do so "not because it’s the winning formula", but because it encourages flexibility Which then allows for the flexibility of the first team to play in a different way. Like the Puel diamond.
Dangermouth Posted 5 September, 2016 Share Posted 5 September, 2016 Poorly-written, unresearched, biased, ignorant, illiterate article. Had a couple of interesting snippets, old news and jingoism in it. Tell the author to learn how to write and attempt a book and then we'll see if they're worth listening to. They're probably not. I'd tell you what I think of it, only I've not 'attempted' a book, so am not worth listening to.
Chris27687 Posted 5 September, 2016 Share Posted 5 September, 2016 I for one, am in favour of our benevolent overlord Uncle Les. Long may it continue!

Charlie Wayman Posted 5 September, 2016 Share Posted 5 September, 2016 Has anybody noticed that there has been no sign of Les on the OS since the window closed? Maybe he couldn't get those much rumoured deals over the line and is in bad odour upstairs.
