thesaint sfc Posted 2 September, 2016 Posted 2 September, 2016 I feel like we're still paying for this w*nker. If we hadn't signed him and Gaston, or if they had worked out to both be decent signings, I wonder how much more frivolous Kat would be with her cheque book? I feel like she's a very dilligent woman who takes a lot of convincing and these two signings set us back a few years.

It doesn't matter who's in charge, in any business any losses you make somehwere have to be compensated by the gains.

Gaston was worth the risk and it was a shame it didn't work out.
Lighthouse Posted 2 September, 2016 Posted 2 September, 2016 Osvaldo was and is a complete côck and shouldn't have been signed. Gaston was worth the risk and it was a shame it didn't work out. This basically. They can't all be Lovren/Mané/Lambert triple your money signings.
eurosaint Posted 2 September, 2016 Posted 2 September, 2016 It was a mistake and Pochettino must surely take most of the blame as he had worked with him before and no doubt pushed the deal through ! I can't believe for a moment that he was a 'black box' purchase !
Gunnery Posted 2 September, 2016 Posted 2 September, 2016 He was a massive bellend but that goal v Man City when he put Kompany on his arris was A1 !
UpweySaint Posted 2 September, 2016 Posted 2 September, 2016 He was a massive bellend but that goal v Man City when he put Kompany on his arris was A1 ! That was a peach, did think bloody hell we might have something here ... alas all we had was a prize A d**khead!
davefoggy Posted 2 September, 2016 Posted 2 September, 2016 Dani Osvaldo, scorer of the greatest goal by a Saints player at St Marys
Heisenberg Posted 2 September, 2016 Posted 2 September, 2016 This is the problem with our approach - buy low, sell high. Just takes a dud or two like Osvaldo and Gaston Ramieriz and boooom you've lost £50 million just like that!!
Whitey Grandad Posted 2 September, 2016 Posted 2 September, 2016 Dani Osvaldo, scorer of the greatest goal by a Saints player at St Marys Plenty better, Cuco for example.
Batman Posted 2 September, 2016 Posted 2 September, 2016 Plenty better, Cuco for example. what else? Delap was a corker
Lighthouse Posted 2 September, 2016 Posted 2 September, 2016 what else? Delap was a corker Baird vs. Cardiff. Vignal vs. Leicester Pelle vs. QPR Lallana vs. Hull Lallana vs. Newcastle Beattie vs. Arsenal Skacel vs. Yeovil Thomas vs. Ipswich Tadanari vs. Derby Plus any number of Lambert and Bale free kicks.

Osvaldo was an utterly bizarre episode. The blame has to lie with Cortese, doesn't it? Seems like it was his thing.

Walcott v Luton was a beauty too
Lighthouse Posted 2 September, 2016 Posted 2 September, 2016 Walcott v Luton was a beauty too Good shout. Think Guly scored a corker against Blackpool in the cup once. Vergini has to be up there for the Lolz I think.
angelman Posted 2 September, 2016 Posted 2 September, 2016 I wouldn't go as far to say that it annoys me, but it is somewhat irksome that someone with obvious talent and the world at his feet just pîsses it away with a really crap attitude.
um pahars Posted 2 September, 2016 Posted 2 September, 2016 It was a mistake and Pochettino must surely take most of the blame as he had worked with him before and no doubt pushed the deal through ! I can't believe for a moment that he was a 'black box' purchase ! He was most certainly not a black box signing, this one was 100% down to Cortese.
VectisSaint Posted 2 September, 2016 Posted 2 September, 2016 He was most certainly not a black box signing, this one was 100% down to Cortese. FFS. Some people really need.to ****ing grow up and stop believing the crap that is spouted by Turkish. If it was anything it was a Poch signimg, but in the end it was just as much a Les Reed signing as any other. Some times the Board got it wrong, though to be fair Osvaldo was still a very good player, just that he was a complete nutjob. Hooefully one day some.people will open their eyes and see that Uncke Les is just as capable of cocking.up.

Suhari Posted 2 September, 2016 Posted 2 September, 2016 We are good at rewriting history. There were plenty on here talking about how much they wanted to sign him, and many saying how amazing it was when we did. 2020 hindsight. Not all signings work out. If Juanmi had chinned Gape in training, would we be hating him?

If Juanmi had chinned Gape in training, would we be hating him? Yep. I was absolutely buzzing when we got him. Really thought he'd be a top signing because he'd worked with poch before. Sadly, nutting someone on the training ground never goes down well.
Gemmel Posted 2 September, 2016 Author Posted 2 September, 2016 He was most certainly not a black box signing, this one was 100% down to Cortese. Indeed - More black book, than black box
petts Posted 2 September, 2016 Posted 2 September, 2016 His career nosedived not long after he left saints. Further supposed bust ups. Either he's not bothered about his waste of talent and the way he acted towards others, or one day he'll have alot of regrets. Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk
S4INT Posted 3 September, 2016 Posted 3 September, 2016 As has been said, that Man City goal though *drools*. That's what football is about.
shurlock Posted 3 September, 2016 Posted 3 September, 2016 (edited) Osvaldo was a Poch signing; just as previous and subsequent managers have had a large say in player transfers. The simple-minded on here really need to get over the southampton way, black box propaganda. We mix as much tradition as we do innovation in our recruitment methods. As should be the case for every transfer is different and no single approach is perfect. Edited 3 September, 2016 by shurlock
