magnet Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Southampton U23 v Man Utd U23 is being show live on MUTV so I suspect they'll be a dodgy stream or two available.
disconnect Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 What time's the game? Be interesting to see which 'senior' players play.
SuperSAINT Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Southampton U23 v Man Utd U23 is being show live on MUTV so I suspect they'll be a dodgy stream or two available. No need for a dodgy stream. It's on the our YouTube channel later.
Matthew Le God Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 It'll be on MUTV on youtube. That isn't MUTV, it is the Southampton Youtube Channel. Live here, kickoff 7:00pm tonight...
Lets B Avenue Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 That isn't MUTV, it is the Southampton Youtube Channel. Live here, kickoff 7:00pm tonight... I watched Friday night's game on Sky Sports 1, but it transpired that it had been taken over by MUTV. They will probably do the same to our You-Tube channel.
sambosa75 Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Anyone got hold of the match day squad for this as yet?
The Cat Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Also free entry if anyone fancies heading down to St Mary's.
Heisenberg Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 (edited) Fonte and Jrod both to start....? Edited 22 August, 2016 by Heisenberg
Mowgli Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Good to see Reed rewarded with there captaincy. Back in the fold I think.
SuperSAINT Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Curious to see if we play a diamond as Sims & Johnson are both wingers, I believe.
trousers Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Marcus Barnes injured? Or perhaps now in contention for 1st team squad...?
SuperSAINT Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Marcus Barnes injured? Or perhaps now in contention for 1st team squad...? Good spot. Would be a shame if he's injured. Didn't Johnson only play on Saturday for the U18's? Scored a fantastic winner.
saint77 Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Marcus Barnes injured? Or perhaps now in contention for 1st team squad...? Replacement for jay rod
trousers Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Replacement for jay rod Did cross my mind. Barnes looks like a great prospect from what I've seen.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Interesting - no diamond being played and the players look SO much better for it. Olomola looks the business...why the hell is he not in the 1st team?

AllSorts Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Marcus Barnes is sitting on the bench with the subs. He may be injured?
AllSorts Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Man Utd should be 2-1 up. Johnson (7) best player so far for Saints.

Olomola looks the business...why the hell is he not in the 1st team? I think he'll be the first to break through. Must start practising his name. ? Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
SuperSAINT Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Man Utd should be 2-1 up. Johnson (7) best player so far for Saints. Just played an unreal cross to Olomola who shot over.
SuperSAINT Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 The future's bright... Actually quite interested to see some of this lot in the EFL Cup. They've been impressive tonight.
VectisSaint Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 We should be 4 or 5 up by now. Very one-sided game (I missed first 10 minutes).
SuperSAINT Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 We should be 4 or 5 up by now. Very one-sided game (I missed first 10 minutes). Claude's watching too.
trousers Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Btw, Ryan Seager (co-commentator) said earlier that he's not due back from injury until Christmas.
SuperSAINT Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Btw, Ryan Seager (co-commentator) said earlier that he's not due back from injury until Christmas. Yeah, he had a nasty one. I think he's been excellent on commentary.
S-Clarke Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Yeah, he had a nasty one. I think he's been excellent on commentary. Yeah I was thinking exactly the same, sounds a natural co-commentator! I think he's found his post football career.
SuperSAINT Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Yeah I was thinking exactly the same, sounds a natural co-commentator! I think he's found his post football career. Yeah, exceptional. Really, really good insights into the club, the players and what's happening on the pitch.
Fabrice29 Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Hesketh is class. He'll be in the first team by the end of the season.
ScepticalStan Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Yeah interesting to hear I'm not the only one to be impressed with Seager's commentary! Very well-spoken and eloquent for a 20-year old footballer!
SuperSAINT Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Honourable mention to Johnson. Coming up to a 2nd 90 mins in 3 days.
S-Clarke Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 I have been generally impressed by what i've seen to be honest. In total control against Utd, great passing and rention. In the last few years, you've looked at these games and not really seen anyone to get you excited - but there are a few in this setup now who look players - Valery, Fella, Jones, Hesketh and Reed seem to have come on as well. I expect to see these guys in and around the group in the cup games.

Good pressing, lots of hard work and good combinations. Really impressed with what I've seen. Could (& should) of had more goals.
Give it to Ron Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 No square pegs in round holes tonight. Everyone playing in their right position. Good pressing, lots of hard work and good combinations. Really impressed with what I've seen. Could (& should) of had more goals. The u18s have a few good ones coming through too. Slattery , Harlem, Wood, Big Dan reminds me of Welbeck. Promising. It's There Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 What impressed me was the ball retention and Stephens at the back-showing his experience...as well as the ones mentioned above
Chalkboy Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Honourable mention to Johnson. Coming up to a 2nd 90 mins in 3 days. Yep, was quite impressed with him too. Thought we looked a different class to Utd. Like that Olomola fella, looks a unit. Hesketh had a good game too. Great all-round performance from the whole team. Wonder what Claude made of it.
positivepete Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Yeah, exceptional. Really, really good insights into the club, the players and what's happening on the pitch. Concur with that. Ryan Seager also mentioned Jake Flannigan has been injured for 2 years. How heartbreaking for a young lad trying to make his way in the game. Very enjoyable watch and listen. Can see why we bought Harry Lewis, very assured, and a good presence in goal.

How heartbreaking for a young lad trying to make his way in the game. Very enjoyable watch and listen. Can see why we bought Harry Lewis, very assured, and a good presence in goal. Talked with Jake tonight. Said he hoped to be back training in 2 weeks. No square pegs in round holes tonight. Everyone playing in their right position. Good pressing, lots of hard work and good combinations. Really impressed with what I've seen. Could (& should) of had more goals. McQueen was comfortable at left back but then put up to striker at the end and still looked comfortable. He is a very versatile player that deserves a chance in the cup or Europa games.
davefizzy14 Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Does anyone know whether the under 23's played a diamond tonight?
SuperSAINT Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Does anyone know whether the under 23's played a diamond tonight? Nope they didn't. 4-2-3-1 -------------------Lewis------------------- Valery---Stephens---Jones---McQueen -------------Reed---O'Connor------------- ---Johnson----Hesketh-----Sims--- ----------------Olomola----------------
davefizzy14 Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Ok thanks SuperSaint. Very interesting that, I know its early days with the diamond formation but would love to see us revert back to this formation (4-2-3-1) on Saturday.
doggface Posted 22 August, 2016 Posted 22 August, 2016 Encouraging win, good to see some good young prospects full of confidence. Will be giving Claude something to think about. Find it totally bizzare that they are playing 4231 rather than the diamond mind. They need to be ready to step into the 1st team and be familiar with the shape Claude plays.
