Well, after watching last night, and coming to the conclusion that:

a) We can't realistically expect Charlie Austin and J-Rod to be available all season...let's be honest, at least one of them will be injured by Xmas..

b) We still need a target man to refer to....

c) Club doesn't seem to want to splash too much on a Pelle replacement....

We splashed £4m on Pelle's replacement.

Despite popular belief he's been relatively injury free for his career so far... hope it continues.

Well..seeing as we signed him in January and lost him to injury for pretty much half the time he's been here.... http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/charlie-austin/verletzungen/spieler/129627

2009/10 - 36 games

2010/11 - 31 games

2011/12 - 46 games

2012/13 - 40 games

2013/14 - 37 games

2014/15 - 36 games

2015/16 - 23 games

So he had a hamstring injury last season and then picked up a knock to the knee. It's hardly a surprise that over 7 years, he's suffered an injury. Mané missed a whole handful of games because of a dodgy calf. Pelle missed half as many due to a knee injury. Shane Long has missed just as many games. Etc Etc.

Exactly, I wish people would do a bit of research before repeating this stuff. Before we bought him he was a player many want, now we have him he's the good enough.

Oh yeah, so this is made up is it? http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/qpr-update-charlie-austin-injured-10626977

Jeez.

Which is precisely my point - he's been injured twice since he signed, three times last season at QPR...add that to J-Rod's history, and that's why I want us to sign another striker as back up.

Going into the season with these two as our main hope alongside Schlong is just madness. There's a reason why he only cost us £4M.

Thanks for that. It have me at chance to vote on 8 he would stay at QPR and be eight for a change.

It is unfortunate that players do get injured but your example is from one data range. from that we could also assume QPR were not training him correctly or they were relying on him too much causing him to take silly risks or he was targeted by opposition defenders . FF was injured last season and so was Mane and Pelle and we suffered slightly. Pelle injury gave Shlong an opportunity to shine so no issue and showed we didn't really miss him too much.

What it does show is a scoring rate of 10 in 16 which is a pretty good return.

Much of this was the same nagging injury. He came back to quick because they needed him, and then when he came here he still wasn't over it. Last year was a situation of a nagging injury that just didn't get time to heal. Look at his previous years, he played all the time.

The sooner this season starts the better then all this speculation will end as we will be able to see

what is actually happening.

I am not getting at anyone and I confess that even after all my years following Saints I am always a

bit aprehensive before the season gets going ( Not as much as Dalek though :D)
