I see there is a large gathering taking place in Dover.  A 14 hour drive-in party to celebrate Brexit.

I thought it was due to the annual French strikes...

Guess not

On another point, I am amazed so many can afford to go on holiday this time of year.  After 6 months of the Guardian and Soggy telling us that the cost of living crisis is killing us all.........This is quite surprising to see 🤔

Please sir. Can you please tell me what I should be doing on my holiday.

Quite the little Hitler aren't you? I bet that Adolf never bossed people about on their holiday. The next thing you will be doing is invading Poland.

I went to Cherbourg and Zeebrugge in September on holiday.  Absolutely breezed through passport control with a cheery wave showing my UK passport.

It didn't even cross my mind to post about it on a mong board, but I guess it really is important to you and others to do so.  Sad really.

So let me get this right Batman, myself and The Guardian are the only ones who talk about the cost of living crisis? Maybe if you spent less time trawling Twitter and watching GB News you might develop a grown up view of our economy and political situation and have something of value to add rather than you usual inane and pointless posts. You are now in your third life on this forum and your posts have been equally as pointless under all three user names. I guess all those years spent in a tin can under the waves have damaged your cognitive abilities. Anyway, thanks for the name check and for confirming yet again that you are completely clueless.

I have often wondered what you do for gainful employment now that you no longer feed our brave submariners. My guess is that you along with your fellow gang of followers are Government plants paid to troll internet forums and spend your days trying to discredit anyone who dares to criticise them and their policies. The thing is, you are making a poor fist of it and have probably blown any chance of promotion to Chief Exporter of Refugees to Rwanda, your dream job.

Shit loads on energy if you lived in France - but that's only because we let them charge us an absolute fortune which supplements their own country :mcinnes:

They will have to pay it back eventually, its only low atm as Macron capped it at 4 % rise c ( https://world-nuclear-news.org/Articles/EDF-sues-French-government-over-electricity-sales ) But EDF still want the money back and are trying.. But our own lack on energy generation is down to poor planning by successive goverments, going with cheap gas power stations, which are no longer cheap. I consider this self inflicted ( and because of the war ), rather than an effect of brexit.

Almost insulting that  Braverman claims the coach pile up was nothing to do with Brexit. Imagine actually not doing basic research and believing it? And then getting offended when called thick?

We are regularly suffering from the brexit queues on the roads in East Kent , currently every passport has to be inspected and stamped when travelling to France . Although suspended twice soon you will have to have to have fingerprints taken as well as face photo which will put the hand brake on !
we have had all this flying to USA , it has speeded up some what since the self service days !

It is worth noting that while all food products exporting to the EU go through extensive checks NO checks are done importing to the UK from the EU ! They have been postponed several times already . Portsmouth council was conned into building a £25m facility to carry out these checks but it is standing idle thanks to this govt.

French ferry crews on strike. As they are currently not on strike, what other things might be affecting cross channel journeys ?

Are you inferring that the Downing Street spokesperson was incorrect when he/she/(it ?) said that Brexit has been a factor recently ?

I had a work meeting on Wednesday with DEFRA inspectors at Dover. Apparently, there are no longer exports of live farm animals from the the UK to EU. It used to be huge trade of 1 million animals + per year.  The Government has dressed this up as an animal welfare win, but is a lie as imports are still allowed. In fact its due to the Governments inability to put in place facilities.

Meanwhile in my home town of Ashford, 100 million quid has been pissed up the wall developing a huge site with utter contempt for local opinion and planning regulations because Ministers believed their own bullshit and not the expert advice they were given. It will never be used.

We live 5 or 6 miles from Sevington and completely agree that, so far, the site has been a total waste of money. They would be better off parking lorries there during Operation Stack rather than clogging up the M20.

Mrs SOG’s niece works for Border Force and is assigned to Sevington. She is trying to get a transfer elsewhere as she is bored there.

The problem is the Tories are in complete denial over the damage they have done to the country with Brexit, and Labour are scared stiff of upsetting the knuckle-draggers in the red wall so avoid the subject like the plague.

Any negative impacts are just going to carry on getting ignored until it has stopped becoming a political hot potato, I guess after the next GE.

The only polite way to gauge proper public opinion after the election would be another referendum which would be just another clown show, so I'm not sure that's a great idea.

Also the national embarrassment of having to ask the EU if we could talk about a return would be too much humble pie for most people to stomach.

I think we just have to accept that it was an act of self-harm, mainly supported by people who didn't grasp the detail of the consequences or understand the ramifications.

Many of those people accept that now, but there is still a vocal minority who through stubbornness pretend they like the way the UK has become a laughing stock and is destined to become just a little island off Europe.

Saints bottom of the Prem, UK bottom of the G20 - great times.

At least we have the sunlit uplands of the Championship to look forward to, financially we'll be much better off there, taking back control of our own future without that nasty Sky money, it's a great move...

How the fuck are you lot still going on about Brexit... 😨🤣

Well, the Government are still trying to "Get Brexit Done", and failing because they still don't have a clear idea as to what it looks like: migration across the Channel, foreign workers for essential industries, cutting EU red tape, the NI Protocol, international trade deals, customs checks on imports from the EU...... all still 'work in progress', pending, or unresolved.

It appears that the deal Minister for Trade, Kemi Badenoch, has agreed with the 11 members of Asia-Pacific trade bloc (subject to Parliamentary Agreement, which the Tory majority will nod through) marks the point where Brexit cannot be reversed.
The differences in rules between the CPTPP and the EU makes it impossible for the UK to rejoin the EU, or even the EU's customs union, without first leaving the CPTPP.
The likes of Lord Snooty/David Frost etc etc will see this as the ultimate pay-off for the decision to leave the EU and 'write our own rules'.
Others will see that Britain will now be forced to accept imports even when there are real differences in standards such as those covering food, pesticides, antibiotics in livestock farming and hormone treated beef.
There is also a corporate court system at the heart of the CPTPP which will allow corporations to sue the British Govt for treating them unfairly.
There seems to be little benefit to improve market access to services which account for 43% of Britain's exports.
All this for a boost to UK GDP estimated at 0.08% over 10 years.
Seems one hell of a deal (or not!!)

The Brexit retards will rejoice at the falling standards in Britain, the failing businesses due to tariffs. They just want to see the world burn.
So sad for our children. The opportunities are now only abroad. I will be encouraging mine to leave when they get the chance.

The UK is now the isolationist sick man of the world. Only the knuckle draggers who suck The Farage cock seem content while the country burns around them.

Why?

You could quite easily pack up, fuck off and take them with you.  But then, if you really did like Northern Ireland as you claim, then you'd never have left ;)

Good advice, but sad that we have to give it.

At least we got our country back. Sadly though, sovereignty doesn’t put food on the table or pay the heating bills. Pathetic really that there are still people who think that the colour of the flag we stand under is far more important than the future of our children.

It’s all okay though. Apparently, according to our very rich Prime Minister, all we have to do to turn things around is get better at maths.
