Oh do tell!

Technology ?

Norway/Sweden model ? (Norway is in a customs union and has free movement of people)

Trusted trader ?

Technically Norway is outside the EU’s customs union but is part of the EEA and so is aligned in regulatory terms (and regulatory differences or nontariff barriers are a larger source of trade frictions than customs)

Very few are rerunning the referendum Les - they're questioning you on how negotiations since the referendum could have gone differently - how this mythical deal you were promised and swallowed hook, line and sinker could have been delivered in practice.

Anyway run away if you must pal

is that the 3rd of the 4th time he's flounced off this year? At least GM fronts up, and doesn't run away like a coward.

Suit yourself if you believe that May was a brilliant negotiator and that nobody could have handled it much better. She negotiated like the remain voting vicar's daughter she is.

I don't think anything. I simply don't know how her negotiating was, or what she could have got, or how good or bad Boris was or what he could have got if he'd been better. I just wondered how you know. Or are you just guessing?

I know you and OldNick think trade deals with a more powerful party are like running a carboot sale but the walk-away threat was never credible.

.

Before you throw insults at me about trading, I would wipe the floor with you in a deal. You have the arrogance of thinking you are an academic but Ive been doing deals for 43 yearswhich would mount up to tens of millions of pounds whereas I suspect you may at one time negotiated whether your conker was a one'r or a two'er.

As you dont seem to get the basics of doing a deal No.1 is not to take anything off the table without getting something back. Whether you think they were not worried about a no deal what ever they said, they would have been.

You still don't understand how negotiations with the EU fundamentally differ from the deals you have in mind. As for millions, I'll raise you billions. But the less said about me the better. I prefer to listen to trade experts who've lived and breathed this stuff for decades and say the same thing. Walking away is and was always an empty threat.

I am pretty sure shurlock is none other than Gavyn Davies, or he thinks he is. Either way, being a multimillionaire socialist economist who gave advice to Jim Callaghan and Gordon Brown must be a p!$$ stain on anyone's CV, however much he made out of the Goldman Sachs flotation. If I'm right, an even bigger p!$$ stain is coming on a football forum and acting like an arrogant tool.

Anyway, I'm convinced he's that famous old Tauntonian and he is no longer Herbert to me, but Gavyn, a walking demonstration of why socialists make sh!t economists....

But Gavin is a multi multi millionaire. He is richer than even you. I thought that being a multi millionaire excused everything in your eyes ... even flunking your A levels and going to Pompey Poly.

Meanwhile, here:

A clutch of global banks and investment houses are preparing for a British economic boomlet and a potentially explosive rise in sterling, betting that elections will finally break the eternal deadlock over Brexit. The pound has risen 6pc from bargain-basement lows to a six-month high near $1.30 since Boris Johnson clinched a deal with the EU, but currency experts think it remains massively undervalued and could vault much higher with the right catalysts. “Sterling is off to the races if we get a Withdrawal Agreement and a government with a working majority at last. It could move a long way to $1.45,” said David Bloom, HSBC’s veteran currency strategist. “A lot of investment has been mothballed because of uncertainty but we could see those mothballs wither away quickly once there is clarity. It could be radical.” HSBC estimates that fair value for sterling ranges from $1.45 to $1.60 under any plausible measurement.

Just a propaganda piece from the Torygraph.

Ifs, buts, and maybes, gambling on the outcome of the GE. "If there is clarity", but that depends on just one potential GE result. ( Unless, of course, they know something about the result that is being kept from the wider public ).

Well if he is Gavyn Davies it would account for his knowledge regarding the EU and its workings. In that case he would have dealt in Billions but there is a fundamental difference he was using somebody else's money, not quite so difficult.

  1. Get rid of the traitors in the party - done
  2. Replace sheep in wolves clothing with loyal Conservatives - done
  3. Unify the party - done
  4. Go to the EU with a freedom charter - done
  5. Taunt a divided Marxist dominated Labour, joke of a party during the run up - done
  6. Call an election -done
  7. Message: The People vs Parliament - done
  8. Arrange a deal with Nigel - DENIED
  9. Win a substantial majority - odds-on
  10. Watch Corbyn, Labour and the EU project sink without a trace - odds on

Like I said, playing a blinder.

Boris, continuing to play a blin...oh.

Now that's a bit awkward, isn't it? Wonder where the majority of Brexit voters will vote now, as we all know they were voting for "No Deal", because they knew what they were voting for.

Nice pic Jeff. What happened, did everyone leave as soon as you walked in as they knew you would bore them to tears with reasons to remain?

I'm surprised you're not calling it racist, considering you don't seem to understand what racism is.

Either way, that's not me, it's a random. I would never post a picture of me on the internet if I was that small and weedy.

I thought you were about 5ft 5ins so I was told

Don't worry Nick, despite his protestations we all know that really is Jeff having bored everyone else to go home!

You got us that police incident number yet buddy? We're still waiting for you to prove that you're not a coward and a racist.

Jesus, this is becoming just another thread of the same people sniping and making cheap digs at each other. This is a political discussion, why do you need to start making it so personal and nasty?

The thread is about a potential free trade deal with the US....

People just seem to like sniping on here unfortunately - all I did was put up a light-hearted Halloween picture and people start throwing insults. It's the Brexiteer way.

It was about 3 years ago, but I think it was when you had your former user name.

Come on mate, there's only one person being"small" here. Give it a rest.
you can go away. UJ has said some pretty revolting things to some posters on here, making pretty disgusting comments aimed at posters whose wives are seriously ill, and never showed any remorse for doing so ( not in my case thankfully) SO wind your neck in.

Well, I don't think that was me, especially if that person was 5ft 5in - only 3 people on this forum know me so can't believe we have an acquaintance in common.

Woah, calm down there Nick, no I didn't. I made an off the cuff comment and that person revealed that his wife had been ill. Don't make it sound like I knew the situation beforehand.
