25 years ago I would have agreed with you about ID cards, now it’s a non issue. We can all be tracked by mobiles, card use, electoral register etc. We have to produce ID when applying for a job, mortgage or buying anything on credit. The police can hold anybody until they’ve proved their identity. The privacy issue is over anyway so you might as well have a handy fit in the wallet ID. My Dutch gf never uses her passport when she visits, just turns up with her ID card. There is no real downside and it would things like dealing with illegal immigrants, health tourists etc much easier.

If it's a non-issue, why hasn't any UK government simply introduced them and thereby bypassed half of the immigration problem in this country at a stroke? The primary reason most immigrants give when asked why they head to the UK as quickly as possible once inside Europe is that we don't have id cards. Whatever the actual effect on the public of having compulsory id cards were to be, the main parties know full well that they'd never have a prayer of getting it through, and that any futile attempt to do so would cripple them electorally.

F*cking load of whiney undemocratic cry babies .

You could always f*ck off and get an EU passport from somewhere over there if you think it’s so great.

Cue the vitriol from the usual suspects.

Would be nice, but you voted to strip us of the right to do so. You are stuck with us for good you utter bell end .

Bull****, you're the like the rest of the Brexiteers, a liar and a fool. Don't try and call 'sarcasm' just because you've been made to look like an idiot.

Subjective, I don’t share your opinion.

Ask anyone who knows me, I’m a very honest person.

I’m quite educated as well, honestly.

I see the Boris spin machine is already preparing the ground for his failure to deliver, again.

We have warnings that a No Deal will cost money that may have to be diverted away from all of those promises he made to the members last week.

The inevitable No Deal that his and Rees-Mogg's investments rely upon will be sold to the easily-led as the fault of 'traitor' Corbyn/Hammond etc and nasty foreigners.

This is The Thick of It in action - but with less laughs.

But which will we lose, the promises, or the no deal Brexit. It can't be the promises, as he'll lose the inevitable upcoming election if he did.

Oops.

Keyboard warrior and a hard man.

Is that seriously what qualifies for 'hard man' these days snowflake? Also 'keyboard warrior' from the guy who just told me and half the populace to **** off out of the country......

Besides all of my post was factually correct.

In retrospect I shouldn't be taking the bait

Don't worry about Wadey - he's the type who struggles to tie his shoelaces and then proceeds to have an argument with them.

Sterling is in complete and utter free-fall, will very likely see parity with the Euro soon, and the Dollar won't be far off.

What a dopey country we really are. Not that many Brexit voters will care, as you can still use the Pound on holiday in Blackpool.

I've never been to Blackpool. Is it as grim as it looks?

Some bits are grim, but it is one of the most economically deprived towns in the country, so that's not really surprising. It really depends on where you are, what you're looking for, and whether the sun is shining. I've lived up here since 1980, and it has gone downhill, but I think many city and town centres have gone the same way.

The seaward side of the promenade has been completely overhauled, and provides a great amenity, but the shops, cafes, etc on the other side of the road suffer from a lack of investment. It still gets crowded on sunny days, particularly bank holidays. The illuminations are not as great as they used to be, but I have seen them nearly every year since my eldest was 1, so the 'magic' may have worn off.

I've got my Stag do in Miami in November - those pool parties are getting more and more expensive...

Ouch, though at least its in November when there should a bit more clarity and there's a small-medium chance that no deal will have been defeated. I pity anyone travelling in the meantime.

Not half the country, just a handful of whingers on this thread actually.

No, more than half the country.

Just make sure that once it all goes tîts up you’ll be walking around with T-shirt saying “Blame me, I voted for this shît”

The country is going to be so badly split once we actually leave, as the Remainers will look at Brexiteers as people that have cost them and their children money and opportunity, rather than the other way round, where Brexiteers would look at Remainers as someone that means they'll miss out on...straight bananas?

I’ve never said otherwise.

Thank you for that, Private Frazer. I think you have no idea how a weak pound will enhance the value of UK stocks when the gamblers quit the scene and the long term value of UK plc is recognised. In the coming years the UK will be also recognised as the country that jumped into a lifeboat, not went down with the ship. I give Deutsche Bank about another 6 months before it all goes t!ts up and wipes the smirk off Frau Merkels face and bankrupts the banks in Spain, Italy, Portugal and Greece, while our banks watch in amusement. The fear lot really got to you, didn't they? The only thing to fear is fear itself....

Looks like we are in for a real winter of discontent.

Crashing pound, high prices, exports grinding to a halt, businesses going bust, unemployment rising, farmers and fishermen stuck with unmovable product... Not even worth contemplating what is going to happen in Ireland.

You'd need to be a brain dead fool to be positive in this Brexit car crash.

This point makes no sense at all?

I didn’t think it would.

Normal people are allowed normal problems, whether people are starving or not. Life isn’t a race to the bottom, as much as Brexiteers wish it was.

Yeah pound falling is fck all to do with having lunatics in charge. Money is smart and doesn’t pay attention to Daily Mail leaders in dismissing experts.

It would be interesting to see peoples views on this video
People voting to leave the European Union because they think it will bring about the glorious socialist utopia are probably the most pathetic leave wing of the lot. Useful idiots in the Farage project.

And he repeats the "EU blocks nationalisation" myth. Meanwhile the French/Dutch/German states own our water/electricity/trains/etc. Absolutely laughable.

Loads of them north of Birmingham too, especially former mining areas who claim to hate Thatcher for the 1980s and have brought people into ministerial posts who have busts and pictures of her on their desks, having displaced one nation Tories. Without programmes like Interreg they will get eff all investment for regeneration now. Corbyn didn’t help any of them during the referendum campaign but then he is too interested in various far off disputes in Palestine to help his own domestic voters.

Still, that bit belongs on another thread.

Yeah, Corbyn has tweeted about 3 times about Palestine in the last 12 months, obsessed with them he is.
