austsaint Posted 24 June, 2016 Posted 24 June, 2016 Just in case he gets the job can someone advise on pronunciation - is it Puel as in fuel or Puel as in poo-el?
Saint Matty 76 Posted 25 June, 2016 Posted 25 June, 2016 Going to be overwhelmingly disappointing if that's the only information you post.
Pamplemousse Posted 25 June, 2016 Posted 25 June, 2016 (edited) Just in case he gets the job can someone advise on pronunciation - is it Puel as in fuel or Puel as in poo-el? Slowly, yes poo-el but maybe a bit like pwel as well. If you say it quickly it sounds like pwel. It rhymes with the first part of Cruella Edited 25 June, 2016 by Pamplemousse
itchen_dan Posted 25 June, 2016 Posted 25 June, 2016 Puel as in fuel, mule, duel Thanks for the... Er.. Update.
Red Alert Posted 25 June, 2016 Posted 25 June, 2016 Puel as in fuel, mule, duel I guess that's confirmation he is our man right there. Thanks
Chris27687 Posted 25 June, 2016 Posted 25 June, 2016 Hiring Arsen Wengers protege when Arsen Wenger is retiring soon. What could possibly go wrong?!?
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 25 June, 2016 Posted 25 June, 2016 Hiring Arsen Wengers protege when Arsen Wenger is retiring soon. What could possibly go wrong?!? Go one tell us:rolleyes:
Manuel Posted 25 June, 2016 Posted 25 June, 2016 Like his staying power. Think his record is good albeit in France. Has European and Champions League experience. Has a history of youth development. From what I read seems to promote attacking football style. Does seem like a really good fit for us.
Chris27687 Posted 25 June, 2016 Posted 25 June, 2016 Go one tell us:rolleyes: It was a joke - any manager we hire gs a 3 year life span at best. Gone are the fergie days of loyalty.
Daft Kerplunk Posted 25 June, 2016 Posted 25 June, 2016 Bloody foreigners, coming over here, stealing our jobs. It's times like these when you need to ask: 'What would Nigel Cabage do?'
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 25 June, 2016 Posted 25 June, 2016 Best odds 4/9. Odds are so short surely bookies will suspend betting shortly? Sent from my SM-A300FU using Tapatalk
sfcuk fan Posted 25 June, 2016 Posted 25 June, 2016 I like this quote from the ' getfootballnews' link in the 2nd post .......... This season, Puel has once again proved why he is one of the best managers in French football, deploying a stunning high-pressing and lightening-quick counter-attacking game in defence and a technical and rapid possession based game in attack, making ball-playing OGC Nice the most aesthetically pleasing on the eye side in the French top flight.
Wes Tender Posted 25 June, 2016 Posted 25 June, 2016 Reading that article enthuses me that he would seem to be a good fit for us, encouraging the youngsters and playing exciting football. He sounds a bit like a Poch Mk 2.
wild-saint Posted 25 June, 2016 Posted 25 June, 2016 what, got the job? text i got from a friend late last night who works a saints but didnt see it till today. asked if 100% confirmed but not had answer yet. i guess thats what he was getting at. he confirmed black and grey away kit last weekend but obviously its not out yet.
Weston Saint Posted 25 June, 2016 Posted 25 June, 2016 Spoke to someone I know in the media today, Solent - He thinks Puel will be announced early next week. Reason for delay he thinks is to allow supporters to get used to name before announcement.
Pilchards Posted 25 June, 2016 Posted 25 June, 2016 Spoke to a mate earlier today and he said 'Make sure you get some fuel.' Then he winked at me. If that's not a sign then I dont know what is?
Kieran1uk Posted 25 June, 2016 Posted 25 June, 2016 Spoke to a mate of mine earlier and he said 'Fancy a Duel on Fifa 16.' Then air fived me. Totally a sign he's on his way
harvey Posted 25 June, 2016 Posted 25 June, 2016 Spoke to a mate of mine earlier and he said 'Fancy a Duel on Fifa 16.' Then air fived me. Totally a sign he's on his way Well you've conviced me!
benjii Posted 25 June, 2016 Posted 25 June, 2016 This is all a result of Chinese whispers. It's Paul Jewell.
LeBizzier69 Posted 25 June, 2016 Posted 25 June, 2016 Always admired Mike Newell from his Luton days. Sign him up.
GGalpin Posted 25 June, 2016 Posted 25 June, 2016 He'll be out of work by March. I bet you're a real hoot at a party.
whelk Posted 26 June, 2016 Posted 26 June, 2016 Spoke to a mate earlier today and he said 'Make sure you get some fuel.' Then he winked at me. If that's not a sign then I dont know what is? I visited my dad in prison today and he was saying he was getting quite used to the gruel. He then got really angry and stabbed me in the eye with a fork. If that is not a sign I don't know what is? We will laugh about it later
Pengi Posted 26 June, 2016 Posted 26 June, 2016 I visited my dad in prison today and he was saying he was getting quite used to the gruel. If that is not a sign I don't know what is?
brmbrm Posted 26 June, 2016 Posted 26 June, 2016 Jeez! Its a sign i tell you. Stigmata or what! A bit of constipation i had, it was a real effort, a bit painful. It was "poo-hell" God works in mysterious ways, but the message is clear
suewhistle Posted 26 June, 2016 Posted 26 June, 2016 I sometimes look at the posting times, but I can't work out whether with some of the last posts you lot are drunk or hungover.. ;-)

Suhari Posted 26 June, 2016 Posted 26 June, 2016 Bumped into Mr T today. He said he pity da fool. Looks nailed now.
SNSUN Posted 26 June, 2016 Posted 26 June, 2016 These jokes are terrible. Some of you need to go back to school...
Wade Garrett Posted 26 June, 2016 Posted 26 June, 2016 I visited my dad in prison today and he was saying he was getting quite used to the gruel. Saint IQ Posted 26 June, 2016 Posted 26 June, 2016 Bumped into Mr T today. He said he pity da fool. Looks nailed now. I pity the fool who underestimates Puel You might say they have to go back to school He'll unearth some jewels and some work horse mules and in 2 years time sell them to Liverpool
Pamplemousse Posted 26 June, 2016 Posted 26 June, 2016 Some of these jokes about Puel are rather cruel
Wade Garrett Posted 26 June, 2016 Posted 26 June, 2016 In Dubai at the moment. Some Arab bloke accused me of siphoning petrol from his Merc. It was really hot and he was very aggressive and sweating like Ronald Koeman in a cake shop. He suggested we sort it out man to man in the morning because it's cooler. He challenged me to a duel in the cool over fuel. I saw this as a sign. I'm here all week.
Badger Posted 26 June, 2016 Posted 26 June, 2016 Reading up about Puel on the internet and found this tucked away: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/nice-manager-claude-puel-has-5701007
Batman Posted 26 June, 2016 Posted 26 June, 2016 so, what sort of style of football is he known for? windows??
Saint-Armstrong Posted 26 June, 2016 Posted 26 June, 2016 Telegraph update: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/06/26/southampton-ready-to-appoint-frenchman-claude-puel-as-new-manage/ - Saints plan to appoint Puel in the coming days - Held talks with Puel, Pellegrini, Garcia and Pereira - Positive talks with Puel for the past week or so - Puel has outlined a desire to stay for the long-term, but will be given an initial three-year deal - Puel wants to play attacking, pressing football and give opportunities to academy players - Saints seriously looked into appointing Pellegrini, but felt he wasn't enough of a 'coach' and that he didn't fit the club's structure and ideas
david in sweden Posted 26 June, 2016 Posted 26 June, 2016 so, what sort of style of football is he known for? windows?? ......just as long as it's not playing 24 passes before we get to the final third....we've had that already.
Nordic Saint Posted 26 June, 2016 Posted 26 June, 2016 Puell had one good season as a manager, with Monaco in 1999/2000, but hasn't won anything for 16 years. His win percentage in the last 4 years at Nice is just 39%. He looks very much like an average manager in decline. Nobody else wants him so he'll be cheap and prepared to take orders from Reed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013%E2%80%9314_Ligue_1

Nice aren't a big club expected to ride high in the French league so 39% seems decent.

hypochondriac Posted 26 June, 2016 Posted 26 June, 2016 What do we say when he is rubbish? Claude poo hell?
SNSUN Posted 26 June, 2016 Posted 26 June, 2016 "Je m'appelle Claude" "Je te Flouppe Fli." #joeybantz
Shance Posted 26 June, 2016 Posted 26 June, 2016 Nice. Cheers for the free money. Was really starting to doubt my friend seeing as though h'd told me that Koeman was going to sign an extension and then that Puel was a serious contender before his name went to the back of the cue it seemed.
david in sweden Posted 27 June, 2016 Posted 27 June, 2016 If it is to be Puel (?)...then expect him to bring one of ....Kuziello, Mendy or J-M Seri with him (from Nice). Every manager likes to have one or two of his " own " players with him when moving to a new club. Pardew, Adkins, Pochettino (ouch!) ...and Koeman all did.
