davayy Posted 18 June, 2016 Posted 18 June, 2016 Excellent news. Very happy with Davis, always plays his part and is a vital member to the team and squad as a whole.
SuperSAINT Posted 18 June, 2016 Posted 18 June, 2016 Good news. Jack Schitt is indeed added to the ITK list.
Bad Wolf Posted 18 June, 2016 Posted 18 June, 2016 I reckon he must have some idea who the new manager is. I doubt he'd sign a new contract if he had no idea who was coming in.
Gruffalo Posted 18 June, 2016 Posted 18 June, 2016 So valuable to the team - really pleased he's signed up.
shurlock Posted 18 June, 2016 Posted 18 June, 2016 (edited) Good news. Jack Schitt is indeed added to the ITK list. Or he's just recycling the recent Mirror story that we were planning extensions for two players i.e. Mané and Long. Anyway very good news. Edited 18 June, 2016 by shurlock
beatlesaint Posted 18 June, 2016 Posted 18 June, 2016 Who signed an extended deal a few months ago when Fonte did then ? I could have sworn it was Davis ! Excellent news anyway
Pamplemousse Posted 18 June, 2016 Posted 18 June, 2016 Good news. Jack Schitt is indeed added to the ITK list. Les Reed said in his video that we were planning contract extensions. None of the info that Jack Schitt has come out with is anything new or that we didn't know already.
Over land and sea Posted 18 June, 2016 Posted 18 June, 2016 Great news. It's only a year extension and we all know how contracts count for nothing at times but this sends an important message just when it's needed (announcement perhaps brought forward as timing during Euro 2016 is odd?). He's been a very important player for us since his arrival - and I'm sure that extends beyond his contribution on the pitch (which alone has been consistently impressive). You can see how influential he has been for Northern Ireland as well. A long term deal for Shane Long would be my next request, Les. Then Sadio.

Norm Posted 18 June, 2016 Posted 18 June, 2016 Delighted. Not Messi but what I call a real solid team man. Who the fook is Jack Schitt?

bazza Posted 18 June, 2016 Posted 18 June, 2016 Good lad Davo, a couple of goals on Tuesday to celebrate please!
shurlock Posted 18 June, 2016 Posted 18 June, 2016 Having coached Steven myself both at club and international level, I know only too well how important he is to whichever team he is playing for.

Sheaf Saint Posted 18 June, 2016 Posted 18 June, 2016 Saints most underrated asset Can we put this myth to bed please? I don't know of a single Saints fan who 'underrates' him. The recognition of his value to the team is pretty much unanimous.
CB Fry Posted 18 June, 2016 Posted 18 June, 2016 His under-ratedness is the most overrated thing about him.
Saint-Armstrong Posted 18 June, 2016 Author Posted 18 June, 2016 @StevenDavis8: Delighted to commit my future to @SouthamptonFC and hoping to build on the success we've already had!!
Leslie Charteris Posted 18 June, 2016 Posted 18 June, 2016 Shrewd purchase, great asset - glad he is going to be around for awhile.
sammysaint Posted 18 June, 2016 Posted 18 June, 2016 Great news, we have a core of players on new deals. Now to get a new manager in.
trousers Posted 18 June, 2016 Posted 18 June, 2016 Who the fook is Jack Schitt? I have a theory.... But not sure Pap and/or Saintbletch would agree...
davefizzy14 Posted 18 June, 2016 Posted 18 June, 2016 Brilliant news, Davo is a top player & top bloke. So good that we are getting the core of the squad signed up long term.
Toomer Posted 19 June, 2016 Posted 19 June, 2016 IMO he is always one of the first name's on the team sheet, let's hope a few more follow suit.

I wouldn't get your hopes up the fact that the club has put a £40 million pound price tag on him says to me they are willing to sell at the right price other wise they'd just say he is not for sale....
East Kent Saint Posted 19 June, 2016 Posted 19 June, 2016 The main complaint was that he didn't score goals , otherwise one of the industrious players who are not usually in the limelight . It's good he is staying but where would he go ??

It's good he is staying but where would he go ?? Exactly. Always said he was a decent option for his industry, but with his goals and assists record, I doubt we were fending off a host of rivals for his signature.
Secret Site Agent Posted 19 June, 2016 Posted 19 June, 2016 Colour me happy. Good to see one of the backbone of the team sign post Koeman. A good fathers day present to us all.

How do you know it is "a fact"? It remains media speculation in the tabloids.
Manuel Posted 19 June, 2016 Posted 19 June, 2016 Have always been impressed with him and thought he's improved with us but there were a few games in a row mid/late season where he was passing sideways or more often backwards nearly always. Perhaps a confidence issue. If the new manager can get his approach more attack-minded, using his skill and speed, I think he can be even more of an asset for us than we give him credit for.

At 31 years old, and with a grand total of 14 goals in his 248 Premier League appearances to date (about 1 every 18 games), I think it's unlikely he's going to suddenly find a rich vein of attacking form.

Agreed, I like him and he is a stalwart of the side but he received a lot of flak on here mid season for his poor performances and finishing. Glad he has signed but there are a few ahead of him that I am more anxious to sign extensions.
