eelpie Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 I'm beginning to wonder if Brexit will affect our employing a European manager and players?

Window Cleaner Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 I'm beginning to wonder if Brexit will affect our employing a European manager and players? There'll be a long transition period anyway, doubt if anything will change overnight.
CB Fry Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 I think we need to create a new poll to capture the new viable additions the field like Rudi Garcia and Gerry Francis.
Plastic Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 Garcia looks worth a bet at 11/1 for the 5.00 at Ascot today. As for being Saints next Manager? I don't know. Not even on Paddy Power's shortlist this morning, now at evens.
thorpie the sinner Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 I think we need to create a new poll to capture the new viable additions the field like Rudi Garcia and Gerry Francis. Good ol Gerry, definitely worth his place on any viable manager list
tisspahars Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 Someone has just asked for Oscar Garcia to be added to the Betfair market - our mystery man?
SuperSAINT Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 Someone has just asked for Oscar Garcia to be added to the Betfair market - our mystery man? Now that would be a strange world where we don't fancy FdB, but we want Oscar Garcia?
SuperSAINT Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/06/16/eddie-howe-dropped-from-southamptons-managerial-shortlist/?
tisspahars Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 They only quite the best price available and as he has only just been added to the market nobody is offering realistic prices yet...
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/06/16/eddie-howe-dropped-from-southamptons-managerial-shortlist/? Mystery manager is foreign according to JW. Seems to be a 3 man shortlist - Garcia, FDB and Mystery manager. Redmond deal for £8m on the cards.
Nolan Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 I'm beginning to wonder if Brexit will affect our employing a European manager and players? Pellegrini is chilean, pochettino is argie Why would it?
thorpie the sinner Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/06/16/eddie-howe-dropped-from-southamptons-managerial-shortlist/? Interesting that Jeremy Wilson still has De Boer on list, out of all journos, he is normally rational and clued up re Saints!
thorpie the sinner Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/06/16/eddie-howe-dropped-from-southamptons-managerial-shortlist/? FDB was my first choice and still think he could do a great job! Also interested that JW also mentioned the third foreign coach but no name, getting more intriguing by the second
VectisSaint Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 Mystery manager is foreign according to JW. Seems to be a 3 man shortlist - Garcia, FDB and Mystery manager. Redmond deal for £8m on the cards. Maybe it is Joachim Low, although his contract runs to 2018, contracts mean nothing these days. Has a good ball playing philosophy.
Goatboy Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 Maybe it is Joachim Low, although his contract runs to 2018, contracts mean nothing these days. Has a good ball sniffing philosophy. edited for you.
SuperSAINT Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 FDB was my first choice and still think he could do a great job! Also interested that JW also mentioned the third foreign coach but no name, getting more intriguing by the second & if K.Billy is saying he hasn't been mentioned on here then he must be a particularly left-field choice.
Window Cleaner Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 & if K.Billy is saying he hasn't been mentioned on here then he must be a particularly left-field choice. Wow must be about a 5000-1 shot then.
buctootim Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 Pellegrini is chilean, pochettino is argie Why would it? Because Pellegrini has an Italian passport and Pochettino a Spanish one?
parkiben Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 Maybe KBSS is JW? There's a thought. Not new manager related obviously
Saint-Armstrong Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 Nice, a Jeremy Wilson piece. So we're down to the final three: Garcia, De Boer + mystery man. Fitness testing is in 12 days so Saints want someone in place soon. Looking forward to the next development...
Lord Duckhunter Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 (edited) The article states we're wary of anyone using us as a stepping stone . If that's the criteria they're using to rule people out ,we'll end up with Nigel again . Won't leave a lot to choose from Edited 16 June, 2016 by Lord Duckhunter

We haven't had a Saints related this mysterious since the Magnificent Seven wanted to buy the club.
K,Billy's supersound Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 Cheers for update. Are you able to say what country or continent the 'mystery man' comes from? Also French
SuperSAINT Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 Also French Deschamps? If it's Remi Garde we are in trouble
SuperSAINT Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 Blanc Thing is, how would Blanc or Deschamps not be "stepping stones". I don't mind a "stepping stone" coach if it means they have had great success here.
Bewildered Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 Also French Christophe Galtier? Patrice Garande? Stephané Moulin?
Saint-Armstrong Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 (edited) Philippe Montanier Edited 16 June, 2016 by Saint-Armstrong
Nolan Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 Deschamps? If it's Remi Garde we are in trouble Probably is Remi Garde, I remember him flying high in the betting last before we got Koeman. I don't think you can count him out based on his 23 matches at Villa, I don't think even Alex Ferguson could have helped villa last year.
Pengi Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 Can't be Deschamps or Blanc or Garde as KBSS said he did not know much about Mystery man. KBSS is such a tease:p
sydenhamssocks Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 Eduardo Berizzo at Celta Vigo? Another Bielsa disciple. Vincenzo Montella? Former Fiorentina manager. Only sacked because he fell out with the owner. Montella would be a good shout. Currently at Sampdoria. I've followed Fiorentinas fortunes for a few years and he was doing a great job until, as you say, a disagreement with owners. Something to do with 'lack of respect'. Italian owners hire and fire at will though 3x 4th place finishes in Serie A (Europa qualification) 1x Runner up Coppa Italia 2014 Semi final of Europa league 14/15.(lost to Seville) Worth a look ?!?!
Pilchards Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 You would think the person we are interested in is not under contract elsewhere.

Pass the Dutchie Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 I don't fully understand the resistance against 'stepping stone' coaches. Two years is a decent spell for any coach nowadays, especially if they're bringing success.
angelman Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 Jocelyn Gourvennec. Remember the name Appointed as Bordeaux manager 2½ weeks ago
themasoon Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 Appointed as Bordeaux manager 2½ weeks ago Haha scrub that then. Sorry read somewhere how he was a young and well respected manager in France which could've been a good fit for us.
Ultimatt Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 (edited) Fairly unknown French Manager? Hubert Fournier? Lyon have a famous youth academy and he played a ton of kids. Finished 2nd in Ligue 1. Edited 16 June, 2016 by Ultimatt looked it up, 442
Lord Duckhunter Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 Why the mystery? I can only think of 3 reasons He's in a job, so we're basically tapping him up. He's not in a job , but don't want to alert other clubs that he's available. If this is the case , he must have a pretty poor agent , or is so bad that none of the clubs looking for managers thought of him . I can't believe at his unveiling other clubs are going to be like " oh shiete why didn't we think of him" . He doesn't exist
thefuriousb Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 Fairly unknown French Manager? Hubert Fournier? Lyon have a famous youth academy and he played a ton of kids. Finished 2nd in Ligue 1. Pretty sure they played 4-3-3 with Lacazette the frontman. He was replaced by Bruno Genesio around the turn of the year. Don't now if that means we would be looking at the current or previous manager of Lyon. Neither of which mean much to me

If that's the criteria they're using to rule people out ,we'll end up with Nigel again . Won't leave a lot to choose fromI want people to use us as a stepping stone. If Garcia becomes the next Arsenal manager in 2018 then he would have done brilliantly for us. What's the problem?
DT Posted 16 June, 2016 Posted 16 June, 2016 The only clubs which are not stepping stones are Barca and Real Madrid
