wild-saint Posted 14 June, 2016 Posted 14 June, 2016 We do not need a bit of a risk at this stage of proceedings. Esp if that risk has 5 mins of managerial career under his belt. Happy with his analysis on sky but it stops there to be fair any appointment that we are likely to make is going to be a risk, no? the records of the poch and roko werent the greatest prior to thier appointment at saints.
doughnutman Posted 14 June, 2016 Posted 14 June, 2016 Are we just mentioning any old manager? How about Miodrag Božović? Not necessarily a manager I'd want but his name came to me whilst watching the Euros this evening. I seem to recall him being highly rated before moving to Celtic
Saint Fan CaM Posted 14 June, 2016 Posted 14 June, 2016 Whatever one thinks of Koeman's ethics (the snake), I can't help but feel as though the club has been stiffed again and all the ST holders who have shelled out have been stiffed again too. What other entertainment industry sells it's product as one thing, then changes the design of product substantially after you've paid? It's like buying a pair of black footie boots in Toomers - you hand over your money, they get wrapped up and when you get home you find out they've given you pink ones, so you go back to complain and they say "what's the problem, they fit the same and do the same job right?". Perhaps I'm getting too old for this lark...
Raging Bull Posted 14 June, 2016 Posted 14 June, 2016 With absolutely no grounding in fact or reason I am going to stump for Yogi Loew. I mentioned him earlier and if nothing else it'll be worth it for what will Loew scratch and sniff next?
Turkish Posted 14 June, 2016 Posted 14 June, 2016 I do hope Uncle Les is about to pull a rabbit out of his hat, because I am not too impressed by the quality and quantity of names being bandied about... I'm surprised, I thought you'd be expecting a Steve Wigley level manager like you did last time.

Perhaps I'm getting too old for this lark... The inference being that you purchased the ticket to watch Ronald Koeman and that had you known we would have another manager, you wouldn't have renewed? It's more like buying a pair of said footie boots and complaining when they don't enable you to play well.
St Jim Posted 15 June, 2016 Posted 15 June, 2016 I'm surprised, I thought you'd be expecting a Steve Wigley level manager like you did last time. Just to see the meltdown on here, particularly from certain posters, I'd like a Steve Wigley type appointment

whelk Posted 15 June, 2016 Posted 15 June, 2016 I renewed because I support Southampton. Silly me. I renewed as I heard Koeman wrote you a thank you email if you did. Lovely touch boys
Saint_clark Posted 15 June, 2016 Posted 15 June, 2016 Just to see the meltdown on here, particularly from certain posters, I'd like a Steve Wigley type appointment That would be Dave Watson being named manager I guess, which I don't think would be too bad. Not for us right now maybe but he'll make a good manager if his input into set pieces and team talks is true.
CB Fry Posted 15 June, 2016 Posted 15 June, 2016 I struggle to think of a worse analogy. Toomers never stocked pink football boots for a start. Somebody will be along with a variant of the "if this was a supermarket/restaurant/the theatre" routine in a minute.
trousers Posted 15 June, 2016 Posted 15 June, 2016 Its a bit like.... buying tickets for a pantomime because you want to see Bobby Davro in the lead role, only to find he's been replaced by Les Dennis. I'd be gutted, that's for sure.
Plastic Posted 15 June, 2016 Posted 15 June, 2016 Somebody will be along with a variant of the "if this was a supermarket/restaurant/the theatre" routine in a minute. Clearly the car analogy is most appropriate here. It's like ordering a Ford Focus with 1.8t zetec petrol engine and getting all excited, but when it turns up its a 1.8 diesel. You say hang on a minute I wanted the petrol engine because of its performance characteristics, but they respond by saying the diesel provides better fuel economy and is the smarter choice overall. You stare at them blankly for a while before losing interest and wandering over to a Manchester garage to admire the Ferraris and Porches.

DT Posted 15 June, 2016 Posted 15 June, 2016 De Boer today? Would be suitable rubbing of Everton noses in it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'd be gutted, that's for sure. Les is nothing more than a bumbling figure of fun. Every time I see him on screen I question how he has got away with that act for so long. A total joke and I'm not laughing. I quite like Les Dennis though.
ART Posted 15 June, 2016 Posted 15 June, 2016 How many times has Les Reed told us that the club havte in place replacements lined up for every eventuality. Well if that were the case how is it taking so long to announce Koeman's replacement when Reed's know for nearly a month now Koeman was off to Everton. Reed is all twaddle and bull ****e.

Wade Garrett Posted 15 June, 2016 Posted 15 June, 2016 Anyone else changed their minds on our new manager after a few weeks? My first choice is Pellegrini, although I accept this is unlikely. Second choice De Boer, wanting to build something, he could be a good long term appointment. The one I have changed my mind on is Moyes. I have read some very compelling arguments online, and would now think him a decent appointment. Top 10 league placing, would be loyal, and likes to bring youngsters through. Surprising really, a week or so ago I had a completely different opinion.

Never mind that he left a small club a few years ago to manage the biggest club in your country. That strikes me as ambitious.

Pamplemousse Posted 15 June, 2016 Posted 15 June, 2016 I know ART is supposed to be mad but has anyone really considered that he's just a troll?

Lol - just because we have a list of potentials doesn't mean that they are available at the drop of a hat. I'm not expecting anything concrete for a couple of weeks.

sadoldgit Posted 15 June, 2016 Posted 15 June, 2016 Dennis for me everytime.#extras That's what Amanda Holden used to say!
Coldridge Posted 15 June, 2016 Posted 15 June, 2016 Who will take us higher? Who will take us higher? Who will take us higher... SOUTHAMPTON IN EUROPA

Ashtonian Posted 15 June, 2016 Posted 15 June, 2016 Hi Guys I know you won't agree LOL but Moyes really could be great for you guys I think
Saint IQ Posted 15 June, 2016 Posted 15 June, 2016 edit....just realised Favre signed for Nice on may 2016

tajjuk Posted 15 June, 2016 Posted 15 June, 2016 There is no rush really, not many transfer will happen until after the Euros has finished, and the players aren't due back for another two weeks or so.

Saint IQ Posted 15 June, 2016 Posted 15 June, 2016 Yakin's Basel team were great in Europe. Beat Chelsea home and a away in the CL
The Fat Controller Posted 15 June, 2016 Posted 15 June, 2016 Ryan Giggs @ 25/1 Originally I said no but now just had a tenner on him

GGalpin Posted 15 June, 2016 Posted 15 June, 2016 Ryan Giggs @ 25/1 Originally I said no but now just had a tenner on him So putting a tenner on at 25/1 will give you a rough profit of around £0.00

Show me the mané Posted 15 June, 2016 Posted 15 June, 2016 Odds on vitor pereira have dropped to 6-1. I think he would be a good appointment. Emery would have been my first choice but looks as if he's off to PSG. Failing both of these I would take de boer. Failing that I would take Pellegrini. Howe might be one for the future but won't be able to attract the signings we need or have the credibility to prevent the players being unsettled and wanting to leave
