nta786 Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 I figure we take our minds off the whole Koeman saga and watch the 3 Lions However, no Saints players out of the possible 4 starting Bertrand isn't even on the bench :/ England start with the 442 diamond, Rooney, Vardy and Kane forming that front 3. I'm going to go for a 1-1 prediction I'd love a Fonte goal ngl haha, when he comes on
Convict Colony Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 Hasn't Betrand got a slight calf strain or something ? Think this will be the game where someone gets a tournament endingin injury, thats what usually happens or we get smashed.
Verbal Kint Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 Rooney, Vardy, Kane and Alli. So three strikers and a number 10, or potentially 2 strikers and 2 number 10s. Either way it doesn't fit. Why is he so afraid to put team before individuals? I always thought it'd be good to have better players on the bench. That side just looks a mess. If he's playing a diamond then he's getting close to our best team IMO. We don't have any good wide players at all so I'd rather we play the diamond in midfield, Dier at the base, Alli at 10, Kane and Vardy as central strikers. Playing our best players in their best positions
iansums Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 Looks like the starting line-up to me although I am surprised at Milner, would have thought he would gave gone for Wilshire or even Henderson. Will be interesting to see if Rooney or Alli plays at the top of the diamond or whether they interchange.
Verbal Kint Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 A diamond that sacrifices the partnership Alli and Kane have excelled in all season? If Alli plays at the front of the diamond then i don't see how it's sacrificed
Batman Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 I hope rooney plays well he is turning into Gerrard circa world cup 2014
david in sweden Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 fairly predictable starting side. Any game at Wembley guarantees lots of players from London clubs........
Batman Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 so, rooney plodding along in the middle of the attack. Vardy and kane pushed further wide brilliant stuff
Batman Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 why is kane STILL taking the set pieces. I think Roy is a **** watching rooney kill this side is so annoying
SO16_Saint Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 If this is our starting team / formation then we are not getting out the groups.
angelman Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 Turned over. Found it all rather boring. Not really in the mood for football tonight.
St Lej Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 Hodgson is probably the most clueless manager we've had for a while. On a par with McLaren in my eyes, just no idea and clearly not a very strong personality so just does what he can to keep his "big" name stalwarts happy. Can you honestly see Rooney etc having any fear or respect of that old duffer when he's played under the likes of Sir Alex? He should have gone after the World Cup surrender. Honestly can't stand watching England with him in charge. A good Yes man for the FA though, which is the main thing.....
RedWillie Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 Alves in 'mistaking Kane's head for the ball' shocker. At lost we'll see Jose Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
SO16_Saint Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 JOSE FONTE BABY That tackle gets worse every time BTW
tpbury Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 Daft challenge but friendlies are about practice aren't they, so how do red cards benefit anyone? Always thought in this situation you should punish the player, automatic sub and ban but keep it 11 v 11. Nice idea, but could turn to carnage if there was a needle in the match. Which there isn't here. Well done to Kane, hardly needed to make a meal of what was a Golbern style challenge.
Saint Billy Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 One of the worst tackles I've ever seen, respect to Kane for trying to carry on.
Saint Billy Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 What exactly will we learn beating 10 man ronaldoless portugal? Confidence?
SO16_Saint Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 What exactly will we learn beating 10 man ronaldoless portugal? That we struggle against a 10 man ronaldoless Portugal
Batman Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 no journo will ask roy directly "why is rooney plodding around the pitch and why were the leagues top english strikers playing so fecking wide" Just wont happen. We will win 1-0 and old owl-face will just talk jibberish
S-Clarke Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 Just looks so disjointed, everyone shoe-horned into unnatural positions. He's somehow making Vardy and Kane totally ineffective. The game breaks down when the ball gets anywhere near Rooney.
Chris27687 Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 Red card in a friendly - amazing scenes. They really should allow Portugal to bring a player on for the second half - otherwise it's just going to be embarrassing when we can't score against 10 men.
Batman Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 Hodgson is such a ****. Unfit players in the squad, rooney shoe-horned in the side, form players push out of position Milner!!! same mistakes every single competition
Saint Billy Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 Hodgson is such a ****. Unfit players in the squad, rooney shoe-horned in the side, form players push out of position Milner!!! same mistakes every single competition Yep very true. I've also noticed that the closer we get to the tournament the more nervous we look.
Shroppie Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 Out shape is so bad and players so out of position it looks like Portugal have the extra man Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
S-Clarke Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 If it was actually possible, we're worse in this 2nd half so far.
Barry the Badger Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 This is making me quite angry. Is somebody paying off England managers to do mental things when tournament time comes around?
St Lej Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 This is making me quite angry. Is somebody paying off England managers to do mental things when tournament time comes around? No , this one is just simply way out of his depth. Not a clue
Katalinic Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 No other International manager would have kept his job after that debacle in Brazil - useless by Hodgson and the FA.
Saint Billy Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 Sack Hodgson now and take a chance on someone else for the tournament!. I have never seen so much disjointed talent in one team in my life......apart from Milner and Rooney btw.
LGTL Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 No other International manager would have kept his job after that debacle in Brazil - useless by Hodgson and the FA. He should have gone after the utter shambles v Italy in Euro 2012.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 (edited) What exactly will we learn beating 10 man ronaldoless portugal? first we have to beat them then pose the question! Drawing with a ten man Ronaldo less Portugal at home is even worse Edited 2 June, 2016 by Saint Without a Halo
doddisalegend Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 At least Fonte's playing well Yeah Jose is looking good.
Shroppie Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 At least Fonte's playing well Hodgson would have put him on the wing. Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
Katalinic Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 Hodgson would have put him on the wing. Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk Or told him to sign for Liverpool.
lickierambert Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 Yeah Jose is looking good. And now trying to get Rose injured to give Bertrand the starting spot. Legend
Chalkboy Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 Tournament starts next week and Roy still doesn't know his best team or formation.
doddisalegend Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 And now trying to get Rose injured to give Bertrand the starting spot. Legend Lol
Saint Without a Halo Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 As someone who has watched the national side since the 66 World Cup winning side I can say that Watching England these days has gone beyond the frustrating and is now just plain boring
Shroppie Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 Seeing Vardy and Kane sitting together now redefines p!ssed-off-fullness Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
Baird of the land Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 England finally starting to look a little bit more dangerous now they have proper wide players in, rather than trying to shoehorn 3 stikers and an attacking centre mid into the same formation.
Batman Posted 2 June, 2016 Posted 2 June, 2016 Oh god. Owl-face will be purring 1-0 Still an absolutely god awful performance and should be worried about this
