holepuncture Posted 24 May, 2016 Posted 24 May, 2016 On two different PCs, the shockwave plug in repeatedly crashes On the iPhone, I keep getting redirected to some Marvel comic advert or an ad 'you've won' competition spam site. Anyone else experiencing these issues? Or is this a cynical ploy to make me pay to look at the site? (which I object to on principle)
Pedro Posted 24 May, 2016 Posted 24 May, 2016 I've been having this problem for a while and assumed it was because I have not paid, actually having difficulty writing this reply. It's only this site, none other.
Georgie Posted 24 May, 2016 Posted 24 May, 2016 Yeah keep getting redirected to an ads review site and can't get back to forum. Doesn't appear to happen in the Lounge though!
Trader Posted 24 May, 2016 Posted 24 May, 2016 Yep - ads.loadreviews.com SWF is becoming virtually unusable for me, the only way round it on an ipad seems to be to use the private mode, you know, the porn veiwing mode.
Goatboy Posted 24 May, 2016 Posted 24 May, 2016 Fiver mountain has obviously been spent on Euro 2016 tickets.
Downthe36 Posted 24 May, 2016 Posted 24 May, 2016 Keep getting a redirect that tells me I have a virus on my phone or that I've won a billion pounds of vouchers.
OldNick Posted 24 May, 2016 Posted 24 May, 2016 my computer is slow, with a message about long running scripts. Mcafee keepsputting up warnings as well
Pedro Posted 24 May, 2016 Posted 24 May, 2016 DeBug script message and Plugin, almost impossible to use Forum.
holepuncture Posted 24 May, 2016 Author Posted 24 May, 2016 Glad it's not just me then. It coincides (for me), with the adverts appearing between the forum sub-groups, 'Southampton Football Club', 'Off Topic' etc. All I can see around the page now is Travelodge adverts. This site has a tremendous amount of users, and for all the google advertising, why do users have to be spammed as well? Is the only remedy paying up for this so called curry club? Is this the cost of being a top ten side? Disappointing anyway.
tpbury Posted 25 May, 2016 Posted 25 May, 2016 I asked about this on another forum (shockwave crashed, debug script etc) - thought it was a Shockwave problem, but I tend to have SWF open most of the time. Unistalled Shockwave, problem finished, just can't play videos on BBC, unless I install it, watch the vid and then uninstall it.
Trader Posted 6 June, 2016 Posted 6 June, 2016 Apparently I have now been selected for a free Apple app. Again and again and again. You're still not getting my fiver guys.
The9 Posted 6 June, 2016 Posted 6 June, 2016 Lol, Steve probably hasn't noticed, seem to recall we had a bit of a problem with hijacking redirects when the site first started. They've got my fiver already, hence no moaning here.
Horley CTFC Saint Posted 6 June, 2016 Posted 6 June, 2016 Only seems to happen for me when I log in using Apple kit. Samsung and laptop not a problem
SNSUN Posted 6 June, 2016 Posted 6 June, 2016 Apparently I have now been selected for a free Apple app. Again and again and again. You're still not getting my fiver guys. I don't particularly want to use a post on this, but it's happening to me too. The "free" Apple app page that automatically loads when I open a Saints Web post. It's very frustrating. It only happens when certain adverts appear but is very attacking. I've noticed now that when the page loads, to hover over the cross. Then, when the advert seems to be about to load, hit the cross quick as you can. It stops the advert, but still, we shouldn't have to put up with that. Maybe a word with the forum provider? BTW I only stopped being a full member after my PayPal account got hacked, nothing to do with not wanting to pay a measly fiver which I'd only be happy to do, especially in the times of managerial ingoings and outgoings.
warsash saint Posted 6 June, 2016 Posted 6 June, 2016 If wasn't for me logging in to find out news on RK, I think I would have given up with this site!! It's practically unusable in its current state. Mods...please sort it out?
so22saint Posted 6 June, 2016 Posted 6 June, 2016 I have just genuinely installed adblock for ios and it worked!

Baj Posted 7 June, 2016 Posted 7 June, 2016 Firstly, my apologies, this shouldn't be happening We've been trying out a few different advertising sources and I was told via twitter that some mobile users were being redirect. Our advertising policy is to never have redirects so I'm sorry this is happening. On May 31st, I applied a block to all mobile devices for the advertising network I assumed was causing the issues. I assume from the above that you are all still getting redirected. I'll take a look and, if it's not resolved, we will simply switch off the advertising network in question. Please feel free to continue posting your issues on this tread.
Baj Posted 7 June, 2016 Posted 7 June, 2016 I have now completely switched off the ad network I think is to blame. Please post straight in here if you continue to see redirection ads. (the change will take about 20 minutes to kick in)
mdearlove Posted 7 June, 2016 Posted 7 June, 2016 This still happens on iOS devices, both Chrome and Safari for me. Doesn't seem to be an issue in Chrome on Mac
Baj Posted 7 June, 2016 Posted 7 June, 2016 Ok, let me know if it is still happening, since the changes wouldn't have taken affect when you last posted.
tpbury Posted 12 June, 2016 Posted 12 June, 2016 Got any views about shockwave (on windowss pc) , Baj? Is that a different issue to the re-direct thing?
Baj Posted 13 June, 2016 Posted 13 June, 2016 Yes, the shockwave thing is completely separate. I'm going to turn back on one of the networks that I believe should be safe. Please post in here immediately if you see redirection adverts. I need to do this to narrow down the culprit, so apologies in advance if it does cause issues.
OldNick Posted 13 June, 2016 Posted 13 June, 2016 I didn't log in and found that the running script wouldn't let me scroll down. When I logged it was fine
holepuncture Posted 14 June, 2016 Author Posted 14 June, 2016 Still getting it on the iPhone, as of this morning... My top two hits as per my screen print above. Shockwave crashing regularly, taking down bbc radio 2 at the same time.

warsash saint Posted 22 June, 2016 Posted 22 June, 2016 Using Windows Edge or IE on this site is slower than Neil Shipperley! Dial up was quicker then this
buctootim Posted 22 June, 2016 Posted 22 June, 2016 Not just me then. I switched from chrome to Firefox but only marginal improvement.
Pancake Posted 22 June, 2016 Posted 22 June, 2016 Whatever in the back end is doin this also seems to be knocking on with tapatalk too. It's dog slow.
Chalkboy Posted 22 June, 2016 Posted 22 June, 2016 Whatever in the back end is doin this also seems to be knocking on with tapatalk too. It's dog slow. Same with me. Takes an age to load. Just trying to reply now I was presented with a "trying to connect to server message". All other Tapatalk forums seem fine.
Toadhall Saint Posted 22 June, 2016 Posted 22 June, 2016 Same with me. Takes an age to load. Just trying to reply now I was presented with a "trying to connect to server message". All other Tapatalk forums seem fine. Fookin slow - doing my head in
OldNick Posted 23 June, 2016 Posted 23 June, 2016 it only works well if you log in. It must be the ads that make the difference
warsash saint Posted 23 June, 2016 Posted 23 June, 2016 it only works well if you log in. It must be the ads that make the difference Mods ploy to bump up the coffers??
OldNick Posted 23 June, 2016 Posted 23 June, 2016 Mods ploy to bump up the coffers??I expect that they earn more from the ads. Perhaps that is why they have not been adjusted. I suspect people are moving across to Sotonians as it really is frustrating if you are not logged on
tpbury Posted 7 July, 2016 Posted 7 July, 2016 I'm getting ad redirects now on my android browser, when I didn't before.
Griptenstien Posted 7 July, 2016 Posted 7 July, 2016 I'm getting ad redirects now on my android browser, when I didn't before. Same here - redirects to the google app store for me.
tpbury Posted 7 July, 2016 Posted 7 July, 2016 Now getting loads of invisible pop ups for wack investment schemes etc- can't see a window, but get the audio. No wonder my laptop is behaving like a dog. This is the kind of stuff you get on film sites. If I wanted that kind of content, I'd put up with the ropey ads. Baj - are you addressing this, or is it just the way things are on Saintsweb?

explorer saint Posted 9 July, 2016 Posted 9 July, 2016 Ladbrooks keep knocking me out don't even have an account with them
tpbury Posted 9 July, 2016 Posted 9 July, 2016 Every time on click on this thread, I get redirected on my laptop now. I think Baj is doing it on purpose to take the pis5!
tpbury Posted 12 July, 2016 Posted 12 July, 2016 Well I've got a bee in my bonnet about this, so I draw your attention to http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?56564-Saintsweb-crashing#.V4StpTVfxJo m'lud. I don't have a problem with paying 5 quid, my problem is that things have changed! Never used to get these pop ups - if I were streaming a footie match I could handle it but to read a forum?

(which I object to on principle) I have this exact problem with Chrome, all add in's lugs ins are up to date. It is to do with the websites coding i think. Alot of advert's embedded etc.
do i not like fizzy pop Posted 13 July, 2016 Posted 13 July, 2016 Keep getting multiple redirects to Play Store for Russian Bride, Game of War apps when viewing the forum home page and the main board page while using android.
