shurlock Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 No? I was using Wikipedia already: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hapoel_Tel_Aviv_F.C. Anyway, time to brush up your Hebrew: http://www.htafc.co.il/ Hapoel is a generic term i.e. its the Hebrew for association. We're playing Hapoel Be'er Sheva, not Hapoel Tel Aviv.
Whitey Grandad Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Agree , I want there in '79 . Parts of Israel are lovely We paid a day visit from Haifa on a cruise and did a tour around the Sea of Galilee. It was not what you might expect at all, more like the south of France or Italy than a dusty Middle-Eastern country.
david in sweden Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 You're looking for Hapoel Tel Aviv. We're playing Hapoel Beer Sheva. Indeed it is. I seem to have paid more attention in my geography lessons....our opponents are based in Beersheba, which is some distance south of Jerusalem.
Unbelievable Jeff Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 When do the dates of the fixtures get announced?
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Of course it's in Israel, why wouldn't it be? Worryingly close to the Gaza strip! Big girls blouse alert
fish fingers Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 When do the dates of the fixtures get announced? Some time in the next hour or so i believe.
Whitey Grandad Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Hapoel is a generic term i.e. its the Hebrew for association. We're playing Hapoel Be'er Sheva, not Hapoel Tel Aviv. Yes, thanks. I've just done some more research. Does anybody fancy driving there? I once met two old ladies in Palmyra who had driven all the way from Italy in a Fiat 500.
Saint_clark Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Big girls blouse alert I was kidding mate. I'll definitely be going (if I can get tickets).
david in sweden Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Agree , I want there in '79 . Parts of Israel are lovely I visited in 1980.......and it was 25 deg C. ....in late November.
saints1988 Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 This is what its like to pompey This is what it's like to be poor Were playing inter your playing Newport away, Newport away
shurlock Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Indeed it is. I seem to have paid more attention in my geography lessons....our opponents are based in Beersheba, which is some distance south of Jerusalem. And Jerusalem's not to be confused with Tel Aviv
Unbelievable Jeff Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 How many tickets would we get for Inter? 4000 min I'd guess.
LGTL Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 How many tickets would we get for Inter? More then enough.
thefuriousb Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Capacity for Sparta Prague is not that good. May be 1000 away allocation ?? Milan first would be the ideal for most due to allocation, travel, accommodation.....
kelkel31 Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 hapoel beer sheva are the team celtic beat to reach the champions league group stage, as it hasnt been mentioned yet
Saint Garrett Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Capacity for Sparta Prague is not that good. May be 1000 away allocation ?? Milan first would be the ideal for most due to allocation, travel, accommodation..... Flights currently around £80 return (I just picked a random thursday morning returning friday)
Whitey Grandad Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 We will walk this group. I was thinking of driving.
CB Fry Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 How many tickets would we get for Inter? I'd guess it would be relatively easy to get tickets elsewhere in the ground, wouldn't it? Hardly a big game for Inter is it.
Viking Saint Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Standby for flights to Milan to rocket! Anyone know which Milan airport between Malpensa and Linate is best for the San Siro???
Heisenberg Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Did anyone risk going away to FC Midtjylland last season without a ticket? Tempted to go to all 3 of these with or without a ticket and hope to get one on the day (Home or away end)
david in sweden Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 This is what its like to pompey This is what it's like to be poor Were playing inter your playing Newport away, Newport away .....and I hope they realise that's the one in South Wales ....and their fans don't take the ferry to Ryde ....
Surman4no7shirt Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 (edited) Standby for flights to Milan to rocket! Anyone know which Milan airport between Malpensa and Linate is best for the San Siro??? Linate but Bergamo is not bad either and is a nice place to visit. Malpensa is a a bit like Gatwick or Heathrow (about 45 mins to an hour away from the city center, though there is a 30min fast train), Linate is the city airport. Tempted to go to all 3 of these with or without a ticket and hope to get one on the day (Home or away end) Agree, that's what I'm thinking of. Milan should be fine, but unsure on Sparta...
The Cat Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Did anyone risk going away to FC Midtjylland last season without a ticket? Tempted to go to all 3 of these with or without a ticket and hope to get one on the day (Home or away end) There were a few without tickets. I know a couple that got one out there.
david in sweden Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 And Jerusalem's not to be confused with Tel Aviv the main airport is at Tel Aviv, so it'll be a dusty bus ride down to Beersheba ....for an hour or so .... However, Israel seems surprisingly small .....if you don't look at the map too closely.
niceandfriendly Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Everyone that wants a ticket for Milan will get one. Really? Can't see it getting past ST holders with a certain number of aways, but very much hope I'm wrong. But anyone who doesn't mind sitting in the home end will definitely get a ticket.
Saint_clark Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Flights to Tel Aviv are ranging from 120-200ish...some direct flights as well for around £160. The bus from Tel Aviv to Beer Sheva is a fiver. Accommodation is free if you swear at a copper after the game.
van Hanegem Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Milan and Prague, nice trips for the fans! Great teams to play against also, it won't be easy but when the Saints get back in form they should make it to the next stage.

However, Israel seems surprisingly small .....if you don't look at the map too closely. No matter how big the country is it always seems to fit on the page.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 WHEN ARE THE FIXTURES GOING TO BE ANNOUNCED?!
Gemmel Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 WHEN ARE THE FIXTURES GOING TO BE ANNOUNCED?! Half an hour
Whitey Grandad Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Did anyone risk going away to FC Midtjylland last season without a ticket? Tempted to go to all 3 of these with or without a ticket and hope to get one on the day (Home or away end) There were quite a few of us in the home section next to the Saints. I got some tickets in advance from a nice friendly Danish Saints fan.
GarrettIvo Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Knew I should have arranged a European trip this year. Stupid family.
Surman4no7shirt Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Really? Can't see it getting past ST holders with a certain number of aways, but very much hope I'm wrong. But anyone who doesn't mind sitting in the home end will definitely get a ticket. San Siro is 80k. The minimum is 4k (5%) for Europa League away allocation. I can't really imagine 74000 Inter fans turning up for us, so we should be able to get a bigger allocation from them.
Heisenberg Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Agree, that's what I'm thinking of. Milan should be fine, but unsure on Sparta... Has to be worth the gamble - worse case you have a night or two in Prague
shurlock Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 "Oh James Ward Prowse, he scored a f**king great goal in the San Siro".
Heisenberg Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 There were quite a few of us in the home section next to the Saints. I got some tickets in advance from a nice friendly Danish Saints fan. ha - how did you swing that?
Unbelievable Jeff Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Has to be worth the gamble - worse case you have a night or two in Prague Yeah, definitely.
GarrettIvo Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Has to be worth the gamble - worse case you have a night or two in Prague Not the worst city to be stuck in by any measure.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Knew I should have arranged a European trip this year. Stupid family. You should probably disown them.
niceandfriendly Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 San Siro is 80k. The minimum is 4k (5%) for Europa League away allocation. I can't really imagine 74000 Inter fans turning up for us, so we should be able to get a bigger allocation from them. Yes! Didn't even consider they might give us more tickets. Sing a happy happy happy happy happy song.
Nexstar Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Last time they were in the EL, Inter's biggest group game was against St. Etienne, attendance at the San Siro was 33,000. So just the 47,000 empty seats
OttawaSaint Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Sort of poetic that we get the blue half of Milan after the blue few played the red half.
adrian lord Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Fantastic draw. Really couldn't be better. The San Siro is a cathedral of football
Whitey Grandad Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 ha - how did you swing that? Email beforehand. During the discussions on here our friend in denmark got involved. I had tried logging into the Midtjylland website and got as far as selecting my seats but they wanted a Danish credit card for payment and at that point I was thinking about contacting my old Danish contacts. Does anybody on here know any Saints fans that live in Italy, Czech Republic, Israel even?
Saint_clark Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 San Siro is 80k. The minimum is 4k (5%) for Europa League away allocation. I can't really imagine 74000 Inter fans turning up for us, so we should be able to get a bigger allocation from them. Reckon we could sell 8000 for that.
Matthew Le God Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 Sort of poetic that we get the blue half of Milan after the blue few played the red half. If we beat Inter at St Mary's and/or San Siro, will Pompey fans shut up about the 3-3 draw with AC Milan using players they never fully paid for? Probably not.
