Ron Koeman

i did actually have a brief fantasy wher we appointed Erwin as our next manager, and it turned out that he was actually the true mastermind all along. I love to dream

I posted in the Koeman thread when he arrived that is been drinking in a Dutch bar in Alberfuria the summer Ron arrived . The general opinion from the owners & a couple of Dutch locals ( the entertainment was also a Dutch guitarist ) was that Koeman was ok , but Pelle had basically rescued his career . Also claimed that Erwin was a fantastic coach , and we'd struck lucky getting him with Ron . They seemed surprised that he was willing to take a back seat to Ron

Its just you that`s dull, still you will be out of posts for the day soon ....

Wow you must be running out of insults and belittling comments . Not surprising considering how many posters you have picked on these past few days .

This one is really pathetic though. Thought you would do so much better .

I don't need more than 3 posts anyway.

Unlike saddo's like you I have better things to do than sit behind my computer , poised to strike down any poster who holds an actual opinion .

Your ****e eating smug persona is slipping

Apparently he is in his fifties as well haha (or at least the 'character' is).

Fair play to the man behind the fictional persona, its a good one and a bit different to the other 'characters' on here.

Has definitely got braver of late too.

Interesting how so many now claim that Korman is average and will fail at Everton even with better financial backing .

I got shouted down for not rating him during his time with us ...

His perceived lack of loyalty ( its just a job ) has certainly enabled many posters to try and rewrite history .

So which is it ? Is he now an average manager or is he amazing ?

Personally I'm quite intrigued who we may end up with even though I have little faith in the board . Am interested what this new direction is though as I think we have gone as far as our funding can allow .

Never a dull moment with Saints

I think he is an excellent manager and has done a very good job (as is and did poch) he will do a good job at Everton. I do however think they both acted like ****s in the way the have engineered their moves showing the club **** all respect for giving them a shot in English football so if they both ultimately fail I shall laugh.

Can someone please explain to me what the fudge is going on? Only thing I can find in the media is that we have allowed Everton to talk to Koeman, I can't find anything else at all.

He'll likely be announced as Everton manager later today/this evening.

The talking is just the formalities of confirming the deal agreed by agents already.

It's quite simple....Koeman and Everton have agreed terms, Saints and Everton are negotiating compensation. By all accounts koeman will be the Everton manager very soon.

This article reads well. To me, it sounds like it's saying the club is bigger than the individual & that approach is supported by Les Reed. Also suggests we should continue to modernise our approach as a club (and as fans?) by not expecting such loyalty as in the past, mainly due to money and business now being the greater influence (despite attempted FFP guidelines).

the Grandoldteam is an odd place

Discussing Isco or Mata. which will they sign.

this £100m is going to make them world beaters....more so because they won some trophies 30 years ago. Isco likes that

They seem to think they're set to become the new Man City, not entirely sure why.

Spending 100 million this summer won't be much different to what most of the big boys spend. They'll need to do it consistently for 4 or 5 years before they get close IMO

They're displaying all the hallmarks of a younger brother who has been belittled and bullied all their lives. Remind you of anyone?

Thing is, I have absolutely no issue in saying Everton are a bigger club than us. They are. They have a proud history etc

So have Leeds. So have Forest.

what happened 30 years ago is of little relevance other than for point scoring on a message board

at the end of the day ££££ talks. I wonder if Koeman would be leaving if we offered him £10m per year. He is not going there because of the beatles, Howard Kendall or Neville Southall ffs

They really expect champions league football in the next couple of years..and of course, winning a major trophy in that time too.

Good luck to them. will be keeping an eye out to see if they wobble

I remember beginning of last season going on other teams forum's to see their thoughts for the coming campaign. The Villa forum was awash with posts about how well they had done in the transfer season, how they were going to take the league by surprise and potentially get a top 4 place. There are some seriously deluded fans out there. EFC very much have that Scouser mentality of "we are such a great team" without anything to back it up.

The Dippers spunked loads of money buying Saints players and we finish 2 places above them in the league. Same will happen to the Bluenoses...just wait and see.

Koeman doesn't really want to go.....but he is now being forced.

Bridges are burnt.

His agent has played a game and bluff has been called.

There's loads to this.

Beside the money.

Koeman should've never shown interest in Everton...well it was the agent actually.....tits up spring to mind.

He will toe the line.

No no. Koeman is a big boy and he knows what he's doing. He wants the money and has made his choice. It's ridiculous how often people blame agents in attempt to blame anyone but the manager/player themself

I have quoted this a couple of times. The story I heard a couple of months ago was we were going to hold talks with RK about his contract. If he wasnt prepared to extend it we were going to give him the heave ho. Firstly it shows lack of commitment and would not fit in with our long term plans. The package we were going to offer would have included a considerable pay rise and a reduction of our sell big, buy cheap policy.

Dont forget we have already given players really good new contracts. I have also heard Pelle doesnt want leave, Mane and Wanyama are open to good deals to stay.

I never claim to be ITK but this is a very good source.

This is v similar to what I heard from an impeccable source (not a player) and the club have known for more than a fortnight he was not going to extend. Why Reed released that interview I have no idea. Many of the players don't rate Koeman. He is aloof and interacts little at training. His brother is more highly rated and liked. At half time in the away game at Leicester he nastily and publicly castigated and belittled Targett in a manner many present thought unacceptable.

Although he has done well for us and the fact his departure will rock the boat for a while, I am none to sad he is going and as I said before and not too many of the players will be particularly bothered either. Howe would get my vote as he is not likely to want to move too far and we need managerial continuity if we want to maintain our recent growth.

I've always thought that there was more to this than RK wanting to go, this is part the club decision as well.

I remember Guan, or k,billy, mentioned that if he wouldn't sign an extension they wouldn't be against 'moving him' on this summer. I think in some respects this is what has happened. He was probably more than happy enough to stay for the last year and wouldn't have forced an exit. This is why I think people are being a bit too quick to jump in the 'Koeman is a c**t who has no loyalty' bandwagon.

This would be very, very funny if true.

I doubt we would ever find out for certain though.

So perhaps (if he goes) the club have played a blinder......? Compensation, no blame, and bring in a preferred manager?

Koeman is a ****. Plain and simple. He could have just signed. But no.

Who knows, but I don't think there was ever a scenario in whereby the club let him sit out his final year without extending.
