Ron Koeman

Ive read it twice and it indicates nothing of the sort.....you love a negative slant dont you? but in this case you have made it up....why do you do that?

Well, you may need to read it again because he hasn't made it up:

It is far from certain, though, that Pellegrini will be chosen to oversee the project Moshiri has in mind for Everton and a number of other candidates will be met this week.

They include the bookmakers’ favourite, Southampton’s Ronald Koeman, and Frank De Boer, who has just left his position at Ajax. Both men share the same agent, Guido Albers.

There is scope to consider whether this implies Koeman will be meeting this week or other unattached candidates but it's fair to say that the article "implies" as meeting.

This is the Daily Mail were are talking about. They often "imply" a lot. I will leave it at that.

I read it once and it does say that, pretty clearly.

You don't have to believe it, I don't, but it is there.

Thought RK was on holiday, no doubt at his Villa in Portugal. So Everton fly out to meet him? Sure Mrs Koeman will be happy with that. Sounds like crap to me.

LvG is apparently heading to his Villa (next door to Ron). Interesting conversation, perhaps? :)

that would be in the privacy of every press conference he has given for the past few months where he has stated time and time and time again he will be manager of Southampton next season then :mcinnes:

I guess by privately it insinuates that Koeman's camp have spoken to Everton specifically to tell them that.

Assuming the article is correct of course, which is a big assumption, especially for the Mirror.

Koeman holds all the aces, in terms of negotiating, but whilst I would love him to extend his contract, I can't see it happening.

The player sales of the last couple of years have helped claw back most (From my fag packet maths) of the money that Cortese borrowed, plus the expensive failures in Osvaldo & Ramierz.. Ralph has spoken a number of times that the club will need to be financially self sufficient, so I just can't see a huge war chest being offered up by Katrina. The significant investment to date (That we should be very grateful for) has taken this club to 6th in the Premier league and the value of the club will have risen massively. Additional investment now, would simply be a roll of the dice, that Leicester and even ourselves to a point, have proved isn't necessary and comes with no guarantee of success - See Man Utd & Chelsea.

Koeman has been / is very good for Saints, but we should also remember that Saints have been very goof for Koeman. His stock is high and he is probably right on the verge now of getting a "Big" club and almost certainly a shoe in, when the National job becomes available.

I hope I am wrong, but my money is on this being his last season (As in the season coming up), the board may even force his hand if fails to commit.

Could that last bit not work to our advantage, at least in the short to medium term? i.e. what "big club" would want to take a punt on a manager who is likely to be lured away to manage the national team within a relatively short period of time?

That said, if the Netherlands start the world cup qualifiers well, and indeed go on to qualify for the world cup, then it would be at least 2 years before the 'shoe in' would occur.

I think it all points towards Koeman signing 1 year rolling extensions at Saints until such time the Dutch job comes calling. Unless, of course, after being snubbed by the Dutch FA a couple of years ago, Koeman's priorities have changed whereby he would now turn down the chance to manage the national team in preference for managing a 'big club' for the foreseeable future.

#Koeman's new representatives at @WassNetherlands will be meeting #SaintsFC Exec Director Les Reed later this week to discuss contract.

Do we know who represents Clasie, VvD Martina and Stekelenburg?

I believe in one of the #TheMarch episodes earlier this season Les Reed said the Stekelenburg deal was very easy as he had worked with the agent before - so just looking to see if he (or any of our other Dutch contingent) are represented by the same people that Koeman has moved to.

@TonyHusbandBBC: Ronald Koeman's new agent has confirmed he'll meet #saintsfc executive Les Reed later this week for talks over a contract extension.

Encouraging.

So he might put own to paper on a new deal, then?

Funnily enough, I watched that this morning. Is it the guy at the top?

I think we could actually make this work in our favour. We let him manage Holland as well as us. Not ideal but none of the big clubs would allow him to do this.

The Everton link looks more and more like speculation. For the manager of the 6th-placed club with European football guaranteed, to move to the 11th-placed club wouldn't seem very likely unless something very exceptional was on offer, which doesn't appear to have been the case, especially as several other names are being mentioned. If the information about a contract extension is right that would be great for the club, not only because of Koeman's performance in the job but also because it would imply that his terms for the club to demonstrate ambition had been met. He might be tempted to see out this last year and have these conversations this time next year when other opportunities might be open to him so getting him signed up now would be a good job well done by Les Reed.

Confirmed: #Koeman last week switched agents from @playersunited to @WassNetherlands. He'd been with the former for 5 years. #saintsfc

Why change agent after 5 years?

And why do so now?

Probably nothing to it, but the timing is interesting.

Maybe he only had a 5 year contract with the agency and wasn't happy with them? Or wasn't happy with how they were dealing with things (too much agent talk in the papers); who knows?

Do they mean a two year extension to his existing deal (so another 3 years to go in total) or a new 2 year deal to supersede his existing contract?

We'll have to wait for the detail to come out, but I suspect its a new two year deal.

2 years seems a compromise, means this situation again next summer, but means we can get on with recruitment this summer at least.

4 seasons of one manager would be quite something in the modern climate really, which is sad in itself. But when we do replace Koeman, please remember Saints...we only go to Celtic for players, not managers.

Would be no surprise if it ends by mutual agreement next summer; RK fulfills his three years initially agreed, we have 12 months to plan our replacement.

These were the old agents http://www.playersunited.nl/players-united-management-coaches.php

If you look at the Players they also look after Pelle.

There have been rumours since the BEFORE the last Transfer Windows about a "cut price" deals linking him elsewhere i.e £5m etc back to Italy etc.

I wonder if Les and the Agent fell out over the Agents actions over Pelle ?

Certainly RonK told Adam Blackmore a couple of weeks he WASNT interested in the Everton position but somebody has been keeping that rumour alive.

How about this theory - RK agrees another year on his existing contract taking him to 2018. That means he will then be available after the 2018 season ends and after the world cup to take the Netherlands managers job if it's available opening him up to one of his career goals as a manager.

When the Star says something positive re Saints it's lapped up and yet when the boot is on the other foot it is described as a rag

A bit like when the Daily Mail transmogrifies into the bastion of truth when it reports a story about a Prime Minister and a pig? ;)
