SO16_Saint Posted 3 June, 2016 Share Posted 3 June, 2016 Going to the big time, Ron. Take it easy.... [h=3]Everton sign Coventry youngster[/h]Football Posted at09:40 Everton have signed Coventry City striker Bassala Sambou on a three-year deal. The 18-year-old, who made one FA Cup appearance for the Sky Blues, moves for an undisclosed compensation fee. City technical director Mark Venus said: “The club understands that the opportunity presented to Bassala would have been hard to turn down and respect his decision to move on. "We have worked hard alongside Everton FC to agree terms that give Sambou's footballing career the best chance of developing successfully." Everton under-21 boss David Unsworth said: "We're pleased to be able to take him here as I believe he'll be a Premier League player in the future." Yorkshire Saint Posted 3 June, 2016 Share Posted 3 June, 2016 We march on ! Come on lads, less we forget the recent journey and the failure those who have left have suffered. We can only hope the next manager again is another step up because the players are going to need to see a bigger stature than RK otherwise we really will have a problem. Only a World Cup winner in my eyes will do that as RK stature in the game is huge.

If, after all he has done in VERY difficult circumstances the past two season, and given the huge increase in the club's revenue due to the new tv deal, all Les has offered him is a 500k pay rise then he's justified in feeling ****ed off and feel that his ambition isn't being matched by the board? Pilchards Posted 3 June, 2016 Share Posted 3 June, 2016 Perversely...I'm quite excited by the thought of us having a new manager hunt. It goes against the sane and rational decision to keep Koeman that I know I should be thinking. But then I'm the sort of person who will move my house furniture around every 6 months just to have a room feel and look different. A new manager means a new managers favourite player buddies, and the rise and fall of other dressing room characters. Players have to push themselves to earn their place with the new boss. There's also the chance of more exciting attacking football. I appreciate Ron's defensive tactical nous (especially looking at Woy's complete lack of it) but I preferred Pochettinos more attacking edged play from a spectator point of view. I totally disagree with you I'm afraid. We have too many 'Koeman players' in our squad and the fear of them wanting out too. Just for once it would be nice to have a settled summer where we bring in players to improve us. IMHO Koeman could of got us a CL place next season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I passed that stage long ago, so when a manager/player goes, then I look it at pragmatically. It's much the best way to be, as that way you aren't so disappointed by the behaviour that goes on. If this does all work out the way it looks it is going, then the saddest thing in all this is that RK seemed to have more integrity than most others, except maybe Wenger, but that faith in his integrity seems misplaced. Now I don't blame him at all for going for £7m a year or whatever, but it goes against what he said just a few weeks ago. Unimpressed with contract talks. Well that could mean anything from not wanting to match Everton's wage offer, to not spending hundreds of millions. Without wanting to be revisionist about things, the one thing that I have missed over the past 2 seasons are academy players coming through. With MP, having up to 7 on the pitch at once was special. RK took a different approach - the one that I feel sorriest for is possibly Harry Reed who I though could have come through. Funny old world though. The most loyal manager that we have had in a long time gets unceremoniously sacked by us to be replaced by a manager who buggers off as soon as possible to be replaced by another who does the same thing. SaintLondon Posted 3 June, 2016 Share Posted 3 June, 2016 It is difficult to see us constantly pillaged by other Premier League clubs - I wouldn't mind if he was off to La Liga or Serie A but it just seems that we always do the hard work and due diligence just for some other Prem club to take them away. I don't have an issue with Everton being a bigger club than us, they are sure, they have the history but at the moment they need a lot of work and I do think it is a sideways step when feasibly he could end up at Arsenal or Barca in a year or two. Also does history really count for that much? If so are Preston a 'massive' heritage club? I mean, they're two time league winners, six time league runners up and two time FA cup winners.. Daft Kerplunk Posted 3 June, 2016 Share Posted 3 June, 2016 So if (and when) RK goes: He was offered a better deal by Everton, which no one could deny him taking if we weren't matching his ambitions for the football side of things He can see we can't offer him the things he wants on the pitch. No point in blaming or hating him. He's done very good things whilst here just like Poch did. No point in blaming the club either as: They can't offer more money and they can't afford to keep or attract new players to add to the squad whilst keeping those already here. We have a rich owner as people keep banging on about (on Twitter at least) but she's not throwing money at the club so that's a non-argument. In fact it is irrelevant or we'd be investing in a stadium expansion at very least so we could compete better. The most disappointing thing about it is that it happens too regularly to us and despite a certain arrogance and largesse that we will be fine, if not better off, that cannot easily continue. It is constantly destabilising and that's not helpful when trying to build a team. Unless of course, this is what Les has wanted all along and there is another plan, which could be plausible. Mallagroth Posted 3 June, 2016 Share Posted 3 June, 2016 Some fans prefer signings over goals I swear. However, if Koeman isn't going to sign a new contract, it is best he leaves. I wonder who Les has in mind as a replacement. I do in the summer I won't lie, and Koeman didn't actually score us a single goal hinself in the last two seasons. We don't have to let players leave. We have had two great managers in last 4 years. We will get a new great manager. That excites me more than throwing the kitchen sink at someone who wouldn't want to commit for more than 1 extra year. Our bad patch mid season points to there being something wrong behind the scenes at the club and some sort of conflict, players have admitted they struggle with Ron's style (although they should get on with it and stop whinging). I'd rather not take the risk and get a new face in but since when have we ever had that luxury. They keep screwing us and we keep getting better. We also have the added benefit of our managers tactics and style being an unknown quantity again. It has worked well for us year on year.
