From todays Southampton Echo "Saints would have to give Koeman permission to speak with Everton and no formal approach has yet been made.Reports coming out of Everton concur that Koeman has not spoken with the Toffees"

This non-acceptance of managers running down contracts is not viewed same in Europe as manager/coach is less influential overall. We are closer to most to having a similar set up which is why we don't need to panic as it not all built around RK's methods.

Fair enough. Everyone I knew was gutted when Adkins left. Turned out to be the right decision (at least that was on our terms) but with the emotion in football I don't understand that reaction.

Obviously its gutted in football terms, not life events etc.

Don't get me wrong, I can be as emotionally irrational as the next man (or lady) when it comes to supporting my football team. But that's more about what goes on on the pitch rather than in the boardroom. I support the club, not whoever happens to be the current manager. (That doesn't mean I don't 'support' the current manager when they are here in the narrower sense of the word, before you leap on that statement... ;) )

Yes, of course, who the manager is has an impact on what happens on the field, but managers (and players) will always be transient so I tend not to waste too much emotional energy if/when they leave. I much prefer to save my irrationality for match days :)

Why wouldn't they want him to 'run his contract down'? His 'value' is not like a player who enters his last year. The compensation for Koeman's services is being mentioned as c£2m. So that won't factor in the decision of the board. It will be more a question of whether they feel he will give his all to the club in the final year of his contract and whether any suitable candidates are available.

I don't disagree. I think it's commitment they want and to avoid the uncertainty they would have as his contract ended

Do you share this with your therapist? All seems under control [emoji3]. Most including me are far less rational

Right decision?? Really? I thought it a terrible decision, unless you are someone who only focuses on results rather than how you get there. What we did to NA was shoddy, but then I guess all of football is like that. People seem to excuse it because it is football which exists in it's own little bubble which I for one sincerely hopes will burst sooner rather than later.

Wouldn't his agent do all the talking?

How can our ITKs know anything?

We KNOW from the video interview that we have offered RK a new contract and its with agents and lawyers to thrash out details

We THINK Everton have offered him £6-7m / year for no idea how long which will probably be success related

It's possible The board have said Extend or go to RK

The only person who knows what's going to happen is RK and perhaps he hasn't decided yet

The compensation should be one year of the new salary, not the previous. I make that £7m.

Yes, but they only let me out to see my therapist on Tuesdays which, quite frankly, is far too little for my needs.

There isn't a media storm though? Media largely quiet on it which is why people aren't sure if its true.

True. Even Sky can't find a "source" to confirm anything. They quote the claim that Ron is on his way for talks, but that's now been dismissed by both clubs as rubbish. The story is that Everton have made such a massive offer he'll obviously take it. So if they say it will be a done deal, it effectively is. So there.

They managed to get that sage Peter Reid to comment on potential appointment. RK's done a terrific job at Southampton apparently.

On a serious note I wish football didn't fck with my life so much. If I had a therapist I might be able to channel my rage towards Hodgson when we limp out of the Euros. My rational self could understand It is unhelpful and it is not solely his fault. I should picture myself on the beach imagining the gentle sound of waves.

I agree the rumors seem a little unfounded when all this is based off a pretty unreliable source.

But the lack of response from RK or Saints is pretty telling. RK is normally pretty active on Twitter himself. Wouldn't kill them to just come out with a "contract talks still progressing well" etc type comment if this was all nonsense, i know ultimately it is meaningless, but they would look pretty bad if they said it and then he left 2 hours later.

They are well aware the media/saints fans are getting themselves worked up over it.

Presumably if he decided he doesnt want to extend his contract here the club will give that permission rather than let him run his contract down, have all the uncertainty and unrest next season then go through all this next summer ?

A beautiful summary of the last few pages.

Anything else, is at this stage, the product of peoples minds. Along with any feelings of annoyance, anger etc.

Just thinking how funny it would be if he signed a new Saints contract later today.

I would spend the whole weekend reading the Everton forum. Conversely, if he doesn't, I'm going nowhere near the arrogant gloating ****s.

Is there a 'like' function on here?

Haha, don't mind that at all. Wouldn't expect anything less!

No, it's the response from a childish knob. I saw nothing to resemble gloating in your post and if RK does take the Everton role, you will have got a first rate manager. I just hope he remains at Saints. But if he goes, nobody died.

Koeman has always said he will see out his contract. If he wants a big job it's in his interest to do a good job with us in his last season. We could just make him stay ( assuming his contract has no get out clause) and plan a smooth transition to a new manager next season.

Don't think that will happen. If we were determined to keep him for the year at all costs there would have been a firmer rebuttal of Everton's interest.

Christ, seems as people have been up all night getting in a lather over nothing more than a rumour :scared:

And of course St Charlie of doom is loving it...he is weird

No doubt you were hoping to chuckle at some biscuit puns. My how we laughed

I agree, but maybe some here have taken all Evertonians as being the same, as there have been a huge number of bell ends appearing with unfounded arrogance since the new owner came about with his deep pockets. Unfortunately it is rather indicative of the modern day football supporter. Everton won the league 30 years ago and anyone who remembers that glorious time for them probably appreciates football how it used to be and hopefully wouldn't be one of those coming out with all the arrogant tosh

I hate Everton with a passion but their fans are no more deluded than any others. All clubs have them.

Amazed people put up quotes from other forums (POL excepted) as if representative. Colossal co cks lurk everywhere on internet.

Saints Eye Giggs as their Next Manager.

We need to start this as a rumour. Really. It has everything needed to get traction and possibly cause various meltdowns in various corners of the internet.

Really hope he doesn't leave, but i'm more then confident we'll have a replacement lined up. We have Europe to offer and arguably our best ever squad - Onwards and upwards SFC.

Everyone is a keyboard warrior in the safety of their own house. I sometimes make myself giggle about some of the..... 'Gentle disagreements' on here and wonder if the same things would be said, face to face, in a pub.

In other news, I have no biscuits. However I am close to a shop.

Well I stuck £10 on Emery at 6/1 (at Everton). WTF is there to lose, apart from £10.

Apparently not interested in moving to PL at the moment.

Seville to Liverpool would be one culture shock.
