Yeah I agree, trouble is as soon as we do well our key personnel are taken from us, I could handle it being big clubs but everton for ****s sake, another has been club with ideas above their station, they're like that little kid at school who hangs with the cool kids hoping it will reflect on them.

But that shows we're doing well and arguably punching above our weight. If our players and managers aren't sought after then we are probably having a **** season.

Hi lads, Everton fan here. I was actually on here a few weeks ago saying how I wanted Koeman the most out of the targets realistically available.

Without getting into an argument, I said at the time that Everton are the bigger club (we are, based on everything that is deemed to make a club 'bigger' than another), I believe that Southampton, over the past few seasons, have been better - and that's proven by your league finishes. So, I can see why many people would objectively see this as a sideways move - and I said that a few weeks back.

However, it seems we have now got our man. From what we Evertonians know (and it's very little, as the club has been extremely quiet in all this), RK was Moshiri's no.1 target from the start, but supposedly RK overplayed his hand slightly last week, and we made extensive contact with Emery from Sevilla. He was offered the job but until today it was not clear whether he would take it.

In the meantime, RK came back into the reckoning. So I suppose there was a bit of bluffing and double bluffing from all parties involved.

If it goes through, and by very reliable sources on our side, it has been done, then I'm delighted. I think the majority of our fanbase will be. Many seemed to have jumped on the Emery bandwagon, but for me Koeman's PL experience was possibly the factor that made us offer that bit much more to RK than Emery. We can't be sure on that. I'd have been delighted with either.

Interesting to see where you go next. You have the Europa to at least attract a big name (as if the Prem alone wasn't enough to do that). I imagine that De Boer will now shoot way up in the reckoning, or do you perhaps even see yourselves going for Pellegrini?

My posts per-day are still limited on here, so I tried to fit as much as possible into one response!

Why come on here gloating **** off...

Yeah, bit of a double edged sword really, we all want success, or relative success but as soon as we get it we lose key personnel. As I said earlier it's a shame our owner hasn't got more of an ego

Note that these articles say that Everton want Koeman, not that he wants to go there.

He wants to come to Everton mate. Reliably informed it was RK's agent that made the move in the last day or so which put him back in the frame alongside Emery.

From what we've been told, it's done. Though I suppose there's always a chance of another twist in the tale...

Hasn't dawned on any Everton fans that having to almost triple the wages of the manager of the 6th best team in the Premier League just to get him suggests they aren't as 'big' as they think they are...

Its probably dawning on them that their new investor has serious cash. I am sure they are happy to have stolen an excellent Manager from a club that finished considerably higher than them last season.

Bit of a w4nk response to the Evertonian who politely asked about Koeman. Seems we have as many morons on this forum as they do there's.

What exactly was his question? That post was just coming on here to gloat..there was no question he wanted an answer to?

The new less fashionable and late to the party Man City... Even they struggled to get top 4 for a few years and the league is stronger now than it was then.

We're not punching above our weight. We've done well in the league because the last couple of managers have been really good and we have good players. But things change quickly in football. Especially if it's fairly easy for a club like Everton to come in and turn our managers head, same with spurs. These are teams we are supposed to be competing directly against in the league.

Every club in the Premier League has serious cash. Thankfully we invest it in the right areas. If they want to spunk it all and end up like Villa or QPR then that's their choice.

The football food chain:

This is how I saw the chain roughly, all up for different opinions though.

WTF is Koeman doing to his career  If he wanted money by all means go to Everton, but surely with a bit more ambition he'd have spent a year more before moving onto bigger and better things, he must have a release clause in that Everton contract or something at least.

Traditional PL Top 6>Saints, WHU, Everton, Leicester> Stoke, Palace, Swansea>Watford, Sunderland, Bournemouth

I don't remember you being particularly sure we would finish sixth back in August. If our weight is transfer funds spent and wage bill we're not sixth in either.

Cheers for coming on here with a decent post - Not all have ben the same.

Personally speaking you are welcome on here and always good to get the other side.

From a Saints perspective, this one rankles harder than any that have gone before, which is probably why you have had some of the response's you have.

No one on here would argue who is the bigger club - we get that, but that's not the bit that is upsetting everyone.

Word of caution though, a 49% shareholder coming in like he has ....... history suggests wont last long.

Absolutely gutted if this all turns out to be true, but appreciate you posting.

To be honest I thought the response was rather subdued considering his only aim was to wind up!.

Wonder whether Les, Gaz and Ralph will re-think having that meeting now? Possibly they'll consider a (tentative) threat of legal action against Everton for tapping up.

Oh well, at least our nicey nice board had a lovely little article written about them.

Ron reveals his true colours. Money talks. Deserves more abuse than Poch. All his positive words at the end of the season - hollow bullsh*t.

I can't stand bullsh*tters.

Anyone else think that DeBoer leaving Ajax with no job offer slightly strange? All at the same time that Martinez left, with the same agent as Ron? Has this process been planned all along? Am I seeing conspiracies where there are none? Probably.

What a sh*t day.

Of course if all of this is untrue and he stays - what a lovely genuine bloke :smug::rolleyes::mcinnes:

Bloody Twitter freelancers playing story lottery.

Worth an effort, if he's right it might get him some work.

Well this escalated quickly... A potential U-turn of Fabian Delph proportions in the offing, not to mention a seriously eggy faced telegraph journalist

For my part I've learned over the last couple of years that these sorts of stories get blown out of proportion so quickly nowadays. Spend half an hour reading a forum or Twitter and a story quickly becomes a saga. Every post becomes a possibility, every tweet a potential insight.

Fact is we'll find out either way when a decision is made, but til then I'm taking a break from social media.

Never really trusted Pochettino so wasn't fussed he left. Koeman will be up there with Lallana for me as a false-promising rat. If he's even strongly considering going there then I don't want him here any more.

You can't have it both ways. Either net spend is important and directly linked to success or it isn't. You can't say it doesn't matter (Newcastle) but then use it to talk up our ability to "punch above our weight". The fact that we have/had players worth 20M- 35M consistently over 3 seasons only shows that we have very good players and deserve to be where we are, if not more.

So, what has happened in the last 4 hours to make us think this is any more true than this morning?

The Mirror have gone big and Everton forum ITKs apparently. Some Dutch Twitter journos.

The offer is true no doubt but not sure it is as sealed as some think yet. But resigned and ready. Our next manager will be brilliant too.

What, someone WhatsApped someone? Blimey, didn't realise football was so unprofessional nowadays.

It is unfortunately. Even Saints sometimes believe their own hype.

There is a growing confidence at Southampton that the old order so rudely shaken up by Leicester City is changing for them too. For instance, Everton’s interest in appointing Ronald Koeman was considered so unlikely to tempt the Southampton manager that key figures at the club cannot recall there even being a meeting about it. The polite answer being that they would not expect to lose a player to Everton, and certainly not their manager.

Get a new man in and put Koeman on gardening leave for a year. At times in life you need to stand by your principles and we don't, hence we are an easy touch and this cycle will continue until we eventually collapse... So far we have been fortunate in our weakness, however luck will run out .....

We must stand our ground on contracts at some point ... Or why bloody bother with them...?
