So, the daily fail are reporting that Chelsea are about to sign a new kit deal with Nike worth..... £65m a year.

On top of that, here are the other current kit deals in the prem:

1) Manchester United - adidas (£75m-a-year)

2) *Chelsea - Nike (£60m-a-year)

3) Arsenal - Puma (£30m-a-year)

4) Chelsea - adidas (£30m-a-year)

5) Liverpool - New Balance (£25m-a-year)

6) Manchester City - Nike (£12m-a-year)

It really puts our deal into perspective (United can buy the Leicester team each year purely on one kit deal...) and shows how much we need to step up commercially even now.

Don't know what rock I have been living under, but I honestly did not realise we were so far behind the big clubs on this. :scared:

Also, how on earth are city that far behind!!!!

Man city probably don't care.

Even Man Utd's kit deal is chump change to them.

£75M a year isn't gonna make any difference to City one jot.

Have you read up on Sheikh Mansour?..

The guy is RIDICULOUSLY rich it's insane.

His personal net worth (yup NET WORTH) is upwards of £20BN.

The Family is apparently worth a reported 1 Trillion.

Because fewer people want to buy a Man City shirt. Whether they like to admit it or not, they've only been big time for about 5 years, not long enough to acquire the depth in fan base of the other clubs above them.

We don't, "need to step up," commercially, that's just where we are as a club. We don't have tens of millions of fans wanting to buy our shirt in China and South East Asia, hence nobody is going to pay us £30m for the right to sell them.

It's simple, win things and lots of plastics around the world will attach themselves and start buying club tat left, right and centre.

Exactly. Leicester's fan base has gone through the roof.

Apparently everything in their club shop got sold, and we can't even sell out our kit which has been reduced from £50 to £15. Plus, Leicester, if they didn't already, have basically got Thailand supporting them now, apparently their stuff sold out in Thailand and Singapore.

Leicester now have 725k followers on Twitter and 800k on Instagram, whereas we have 556k on Twitter and 189k on Instagram, though social media is not of course the only measure when deciding the size of a fan base.

Would love to know what these figures were back in July 2015.

I recall seeing a news segment documenting *insert big name club* 'fans' who had recently switched to being Leicester 'fans'. Whatever though, it's their buck.

apparently a lot of southeast asian fans are now 'dual-supporters' of leicester and a big name club like arsenal or Man U.

Gotta love being a fly on the wall on the two games a season those clubs play each other

This one did have a bit about a dad bringing his kids to matches after switching allegiance from Liverpool, although that seems to have disappeared from the article now.

They do care. Kit deal money is money that can be spent under the Financial Fair Play rules. Sheikh Mansour's personal wealth is, for the most part, not money that can be spent under Financial Fair Play rules.

Since when has that ever stopped Man City?..

They've been flouting that for yonks.

But good point about FFP RE: Kit money though.

They did get put on probation and paid a fine for flouting it. Last I heard, the ridiculous sponsorship deal was being devalue to put it at fair market value. Of course, they are trying some tricks with the non-English Clubs they own.
