Sheaf Saint Posted 15 May, 2016 Share Posted 15 May, 2016 On becoming the first Southampton manager since Dave Jones to complete two full seasons in charge... And also the small matter of securing our highest league finish since 1984. And getting us into Europe for a second year running. I have to confess I was starting to have my doubts when results weren't going our way mid-season, but I would be delighted if he was to agree a contract extension now. Lighthouse Posted 15 May, 2016 Share Posted 15 May, 2016 Wow that's quite a poor stat, I'd never thought of it like that. Obviously in terms of time he is a couple of months behind Adkins, Strachan and Whiskey George, when does he become our longest serving manager of say, the century? melmacian_saint Posted 15 May, 2016 Share Posted 15 May, 2016 Must say, after Midtjylland and a shaky period in the middle of the season, I thought things were going in exactly the opposite direction that they ended up going. So fair play and congratulations, Ronald Koeman. Your decisions and choices have been given a massive, European seal of approval!

Obviously in terms of time he is a couple of months behind Adkins, Strachan and Whiskey George, when does he become our longest serving manager of say, the century? Looking on Wikipedia, Strachan and Adkins both did about the same time - just under 2 yrs and 4 months. Ron was appointed in June 2014 so, assuming he is still here then, some time in October this year will see him surpass that.

Red Posted 16 May, 2016 Share Posted 16 May, 2016 Here here!!! The do Ron Ron, the do Ron Ron! Let's have a bit of stability - be great to have a settled manager, team and management structure for the next 4 to 5 years and build (particularly the academy), even if we finish mid table. Let's consolidate being a biggish PL club and then build from that.
Golden Balls Posted 16 May, 2016 Share Posted 16 May, 2016 .....and to win "something" next season . This. Potentially finishing 5th is great. But we really do need to win something.
Mr X Posted 16 May, 2016 Share Posted 16 May, 2016 "Ronald Koeman looks proud as punch as he walks around the St Mary's pitch with his players. But, with Everton said to be circling, will he still be there next season? If Europa League football, and a second half of the season only bettered by champions Leicester, won't tempt him then surely nothing will..."
